Mo Ling had already flown into the air in front of Little Lamb.
With a thought, Mo Ling stripped away its chainsaw horns and limbs.
But unexpectedly, the lamb's healing speed accelerated again, and a short arm grew directly from each severed limb.
The fluid matter within its body flowed as a chain shot toward the metal block in the sky.
But the moment the chain touched the Cube, it was knocked away by the hard metal wall, failing even to move the metal block an inch.
It tried to continue attacking, but Mo Ling directly stripped away its head, and its body immediately fell into stasis.
However, the body did not remain still for long before the headless body began moving again.
At first, it merely twitched unconsciously. Later, it began trying to evade the humanoid creatures' arrows.
Though it failed to dodge any of them and ended up covered in arrows, its movements grew increasingly adept.
Mo Ling no longer dared to attack.
"It's adapting to being injured!"
Its learning ability was far too strong.
Mo Ling could only slowly change his method of attack, beginning to strip away random parts of Little Lamb's body.
This method of attack caught Little Lamb completely off guard.
A long arrow flew over. Just as Little Lamb tried to leap away, Mo Ling stripped away its knee. Its entire lower leg fell to the ground, and it could only stagger before collapsing.
The long arrow pierced straight into Little Lamb's back, and the following rain of arrows turned it into a porcupine.
Yet soon afterward, its taut muscles squeezed the arrows embedded in its body back out, causing them to fall to the ground.
It planted both hands on the ground, intending to crawl, but Mo Ling targeted the roots of its arms again and severed them cleanly.
But at that moment, the flesh on its feet slowly extended again, fully restoring its cloven hooves. With a kick of both legs, it dodged the incoming arrow rain once more.
Mo Ling's expression turned grave. This could not go on.
The nature of the Red String Worm meant that Little Lamb could not possibly be killed.
No matter how effective his attacks were, they merely trained Little Lamb's body and could only restrict it temporarily.
Moreover, that restrictive effect would continue weakening until Little Lamb evolved to become completely immune.
Fortunately, Captain Su and the others arrived at the battlefield then.
From afar, they saw the Cube attacking Little Lamb.
During their earlier journey, Captain Su had already explained Little Lamb's abilities to everyone. Yet upon witnessing its powerful healing ability, the soldiers still revealed looks of shock.
Before long, Little Lamb's entire body had healed again. It kicked off with both legs and leaped into the air, intending to attack the Cube.
Seeing this, Mo Ling directly teleported a rock into the air, blocking its ascent.
Little Lamb slammed headfirst into the rock and fell to the ground, bleeding from its head.
But the instant it landed, it got back up. The wound on its head had already healed.
It seemed Little Lamb's ability to heal external wounds had reached an utterly terrifying level.
After Captain Su and the others arrived, they also employed all manner of restraining methods.
The soldiers threw out weaving capsules, layering several crisscrossed sheets of Metal Mesh in the air and wrapping up the Little Lamb that had just landed and had no time to escape.
Yet black light flashed across Little Lamb's body, and a pair of rotating chainsaws actually grew from the outer sides of its arms.
It braced itself with both hands, and the overlapping Metal Mesh was sliced directly into fragments.
One of the soldiers cursed angrily at the sight.
They switched to another method of attack, throwing over a dozen metal spears together and planting them around Little Lamb.
Then one soldier pressed a button. The metal spears instantly flickered with white electric light, blue-white currents jumping between them.
As the currents rebounded, they grew thicker and thicker. Violent arcs of electricity formed a thunderstorm-like electric net between the spears, trapping Little Lamb within.
The spears' electrical output continued to increase, and the storm grew fiercer. In an instant, countless arcs of varying thickness struck Little Lamb's body.
A burst of high-frequency flashing white light passed over it. Little Lamb's blood-stained gray wool had been scorched black, and black smoke rose from its entire body.
The scent of roasted lamb drifted through the air. The spears glowing with brilliant white light gradually dimmed and, after releasing several more bursts of electricity, returned to their original metallic appearance.
The charred object at the center of the spears toppled straight down. Parts of it even shattered, leaving only several indistinct black chunks on the ground.
Seeing that it had worked, the soldiers who launched the attack finally let out long breaths.
"Quick! Collect the fragments!" Captain Su shouted urgently.
Only then did the soldiers snap awake. They rushed forward, preparing to pack up the black chunks of flesh on the ground.
But Mo Ling in the sky noticed something different.
The flesh within those black fragments slowly regained activity and began to writhe and heal continuously.
There was danger!
But Mo Ling had no way to warn the soldiers in time. He could only lower himself slightly and block the path of one advancing soldier.
The soldier looked at the Cube in confusion.
But the other soldiers had already reached the fragments. Cautiously, they took out capsules that transformed into gel-like seals, packing the fragments away one by one.
However, the largest black fragment suddenly trembled and began expanding within its seal.
The gelatinous seal was stretched enormous. The soldiers hurriedly took out several more capsules and wrapped it in several additional layers.
The gel began contracting, but its contraction was slower than the expansion. The soldiers finally realized something was wrong and began backing away from the fragments.
But unfortunately, it was already too late. A slit suddenly split open along the edge of the black fragment, and a long chain burst out, cleaving both the gel and the soldier before it apart.
Afterward, countless chains shot out from the fragment. Black light slashed through the air, smoothly cutting apart the surrounding soldiers and plants.
Only the soldier shielded by the Cube survived.
When Mo Ling slowly moved the Cube away, the soldier saw the horrific scene before him. The confusion in his eyes had long turned into deep terror.
Though he no longer wished to use his ability to enhance Little Lamb's healing, Mo Ling was still forced to act to cover the soldiers' retreat.
The black fragment expanded slowly against Mo Ling's stripping, as violently as a chemical reaction.
Gray fur burst through the charred shell. Its twin chainsaw horns began spinning again, its expressionless sheep face slowly lifted, and its thick cloven hooves stood upon the earth once more.
Terrifyingly huge bloody holes continuously appeared across its body, but it ignored them, for they healed in the blink of an eye.
Once Mo Ling gave up on continuing his attacks, everyone could only watch as Little Lamb rapidly returned to its complete state.
Perhaps sensing that its strength was still insufficient, Little Lamb's swollen muscles stretched again. Its body straightened and transformed into a humanoid shape, growing taller and taller until, excluding its horns, it was already as tall as a person.
When the expansion finally ended, this "Little Lamb" had grown into the form of a Ram-Headed Man. Apart from its head, hooves, and wool covering its entire body, there was no sign that it had been a lamb born only recently.
The Ram-Headed Man stood still and raised its head. Its rectangular pupils gazed at the Cube in the air. Its face remained expressionless, yet its eyes revealed a human-like curiosity.
At that moment, Mo Ling felt as though that gaze had pierced into the Cube.
It was utterly chilling.
