Inside the metal block, Mo Ling carefully stared at the recorder's electronic screen, memorizing the content displayed on it.
"Relic, that must be referring to that strange weapon. Now they're recognizing me as a relic too."
But what is the Abyss?
Mo Ling decided to observe further before gathering more information.
The people in the camp were busy, each wearing an identical metal tag around their neck with their name on it.
Most of the people present were "Level One Hunters," and the few "Level Two Hunters" had an additional title on their tags.
They were using various advanced devices Mo Ling had never seen before, scavenging back and forth in the camp.
One team member threw out a metal ball with a mesh pattern. After falling to the ground, it expanded, extending mechanical arms to pack up the surrounding supplies.
Disk-shaped devices resembling robotic vacuum cleaners crawled on the ground, collecting the corpses of the small black figures one by one.
Another team member climbed onto the previous city wall, took out a capsule from their waist, and wrapped the broom-like relic used by the small figure wizard inside.
The big shield strongman returned, a flatbed cart following beside him.
"This is a flatbed cart for transporting supplies. You made a great contribution this time, so you can use this one first."
He took off the wristband from his hand and handed it to Li Luo: "Wristband operation."
Li Luo did not take the wristband, merely examining the flatbed cart.
The recorder watched this awkward scene from the side and joked, "Captain Du, you're really taking care of your former superior's daughter. Isn't that using public office for private gain?"
Du Kang turned and kicked the recorder, "Stop slacking off here, that broom on the city wall hasn't been registered yet!"
"Yes, yes, yes." The recorder twisted his body to dodge and scurried away.
The atmosphere was tense, and Li Luo finally took the wristband.
"Thank you."
Du Kang also breathed a sigh of relief, the tall strongman looking a bit embarrassed.
"No need to thank me. Pack up quickly and let's go. We've already wasted too much time."
Li Luo stood up and clicked a few times on the wristband. The flatbed cart automatically moved to the front of the original wooden pushcart, extended supporting devices to lift the metal block, and then slowly drove underneath.
Several fixing points rose from the flatbed cart, firmly securing the metal block. With a series of operations, the loading was complete.
Li Luo walked towards other areas, and the flatbed cart slowly moved, automatically following her.
Mo Ling was inside, curiously studying these advanced machines.
"This thing is good."
Mo Ling really wanted to try teleporting that wristband in and operating it himself. Wouldn't he be able to go wherever he wanted then?
But the wristband was already on Li Luo's hand. If he teleported now, it wouldn't just be the wristband that came in.
Everyone gathered. After a headcount, they passed through the camp and proceeded in another direction.
Along the way, Mo Ling sat in the flatbed cart, watching various rare birds and strange beasts rush out of the surrounding jungle, only to be quickly dealt with by the group.
Soon, the team arrived at a peculiar building.
The building's exterior was made of smooth white tiles, forming a semi-circular dome on the ground, with a tall tower extending from the top.
It looked like a lollipop stuck upside down in the ground.
As the team approached, an entrance slowly rose from the white tiles, and guards emerged from within, beginning identity verification.
These guards were particularly cautious about the metal block, each one stopping for a long time in front of the cart.
Finally, the team successfully entered the white building.
Inside was a vast plaza-like space, with spiral staircases extending towards the high tower and underground, revealing a hidden world.
Looking out from within, the originally white tiles had become transparent glass, allowing a clear view of the jungle outside the building.
People came and went in the plaza, and when they saw the team that had just entered the building, they merely glanced at them.
Like Mo Ling, most of the people in the team also widened their eyes, looking around the interior of the building with anticipation.
"Welcome, everyone, to the Seventh Monitoring Station."
A kind middle-aged scholar wearing a white coat, glasses, and neatly combed hair walked up to the crowd, opening his arms in welcome.
Seeing this, Du Kang stepped forward to greet him: "Station Chief Liang, it's been a while."
Mo Ling also looked at the nameplate hanging on the scholar.
"Level Three Hunter, Sage of the Forest Liang Zhi."
A Level Three Hunter? It was Mo Ling's first time seeing one. Comparing their identities, it seemed the higher the level, the more powerful they were.
Station Chief Liang walked up to Du Kang, patted his shoulder, and then looked at the people behind him with shining eyes.
"This year's newcomers look very promising!"
"They are indeed. We just cleared a Totem Spirit Camp on the way, located between the Great Elevator and the monitoring station. We don't know when it was established."
Hearing this, Station Chief Liang looked puzzled, pushed up his glasses, and said, "It's only been half a year since our last patrol. How could it be so fast?"
Du Kang shook his head: "It might be related to the recent riots. We brought back the bodies, and the monitoring station needs to study them further."
Upon hearing the word "riots," Station Chief Liang's expression immediately became serious, losing his previous relaxed demeanor.
After the two finished talking, they settled the people behind them in a large warehouse. The researchers within the monitoring station began to take over the various supplies.
However, no one came to Li Luo to inquire about the metal block. Mo Ling sat on the cart, following Li Luo around for the handover.
Where are they taking me?
Although a bit confused, Mo Ling was also worried about not being able to properly understand the monitoring station, so following Li Luo around was a good opportunity.
After the handover was complete, everyone was led by Station Chief Liang to a conference room.
But at the entrance to the conference room, Li Luo was stopped.
Station Chief Liang looked at Li Luo, murmuring, "You look so much like your father."
Upon hearing this, Li Luo just stood there silently, looking at Station Chief Liang with a blank expression.
"Their personalities are quite similar too, both acting like they're the most important people in the world."
What kind of grudges and entanglements could there be?
Mo Ling pricked up his ears gossiping from behind, although he didn't need ears to hear anymore.
Station Chief Liang walked back to the metal block and sighed, "His luck is just as good."
After speaking, he waved at Li Luo, "It's fine, you can go in. If you need anything in the Abyss in the future, you can come find me."
Li Luo didn't stand on ceremony either and turned to leave.
"She didn't even take the opportunity to build connections, she really has quite a personality." Mo Ling also felt that this young girl was too distinctive.
In the conference room, people arrived one after another. After Station Chief Liang welcomed everyone in, he walked to the head seat, pulled out the chair, but did not sit down.
He first bowed deeply to everyone.
"First of all, I want to thank everyone for their contributions to clearing the Totem Spirit Camp."
"The Seventh Monitoring Station is the furthest monitoring station from the Great Elevator, and the path to get here is the most difficult. Clearing one more obstacle means fewer people will lose their lives later on."
"As the Station Chief of the Seventh Monitoring Station, failing to discover the situation in time was my dereliction of duty. I apologize to everyone here."
Station Chief Liang bowed again before slowly sitting down.
