The Approaching Flames

Li Luo stopped abruptly as she walked, gazing into the distance.

Something seemed wrong over there.

A strange target had appeared on the Night Vision Device's display, swaying amid the densely packed Pyramid Swarm.

That thing seemed hotter than its surroundings, creating a distorted patch in the Night Vision Device's view. The already low-quality device could no longer make out what it was.

Staring at the blurry image, Li Luo had no choice but to take off the Night Vision Device for the moment.

When she looked ahead again, the sight before her left her stunned.

At the center of the Pyramid Swarm was a brightly lit area, and at its center burned a ball of fire.

The flames illuminated the surroundings with an unnatural brilliance. Having grown somewhat accustomed to the darkness, Li Luo was dazzled by the light and instinctively raised an arm to shield her eyes. Once she gradually adjusted to it and looked again, she discovered that the flames had moved closer.

The warped fireball seemed to be burning along an invisible fuse, drawing nearer and nearer to her.
