Shauntal delivered Fang Yan’s reform plans to Unova’s Officer Jennys, while Diantha learned that Hoopa’s seal was weakening and gathered help to reinforce it. As snow fell at Fang Yan’s Pokémon Day Care, Cynthia told him she was heading to Dahara City, and he decided to join her.

• Shauntal brought Fang Yan’s internship and reform documents to the head Officer Jenny, who agreed to advance reforms and prepare an Officer Jenny skills competition.
• Drasna told Diantha that the People of the Vale Clan had requested help because Hoopa’s seal was weakening after the incident in Lumiose City.
• Diantha asked Cynthia and Lance to help reinforce Hoopa’s seal, and both agreed.
• Snow began falling at Fang Yan’s Pokémon Day Care, where Fang Yan and the Fujinos harvested tea leaves and found the second batch tasted better than the first.
• Cynthia called Fang Yan from the road to Dahara City, and he told her he would join her after she arrived and rested.

Fang Yan traveled to Dahara City after receiving aid requests from the Unova and Sinnoh Leagues, preparing for the possibility that Hoopa’s weakening seal could lead to a major battle. He joined Cynthia at the city’s meeting place, where the People of the Vale learned that the strongest Champion had arrived.

• Fang Yan told Grimsley and Lucian to put their League’s Elite Four on standby and left League affairs in Lucian’s hands.
• Fang Yan prepared his Pokémon, asked Mrs. Fujino to bring Shauna and Zhishi home from school, and opened a Distortion Passage to Dahara City.
• Fang Yan recalled Hoopa Unbound’s power and considered which Legendary Pokémon he might summon if the seal failed.
• Fang Yan arrived at Dahara City, saw Dahara Tower, and messaged Cynthia that he had reached the city.
• Cynthia told the People of the Vale representative that Fang Yan had arrived, and Fang Yan entered the restaurant where they were meeting.

Fang Yan joined Cynthia, Lance, and Diantha in Dahara City to investigate the damaged Prison Bottle and divide the work of containing Hoopa. He arranged for Celebi to take him and the others to the People of the Vale Clan's ancestors to learn how to make a replacement, but left through a Distortion Passage to collect medicine first.

• Fang Yan met the other Champions and learned that Baraz had brought the damaged Prison Bottle out after rage leaking from it affected Hoopa.
• Fang Yan reunited with Ash, Serena, Bonnie, Clemont, and Hoopa, and Gengar frightened Hoopa when it tried to startle Fang Yan.
• Baraz explained that the People of the Vale Clan had forgotten how to make the Prison Bottle, so Fang Yan proposed splitting into teams to reinforce the seal and seek instructions from their ancestors.
• Fang Yan revealed that he was an Arceus Messenger and summoned two Celebi to find the ancestors' time and place.
• After Mrs. Fujino called about herbal medicine, Fang Yan entered a Distortion Passage, leaving the People of the Vale Clan astonished.

Fang Yan and his companions traveled through time to Dahara Town, where Hoopa Unbound was rampaging, and joined Ghris in preparing to seal it. When Hoopa Unbound summoned a powerful Rayquaza, Fang Yan called forth Mega Rayquaza, which arrived and struck the summoned Pokémon into the water.

• Celebi opened a time portal, and Fang Yan, Ash, Baraz, Cynthia, and their Pokémon arrived in the desert near Dahara Town, where Ash and Baraz had to be pulled from the sand.
• Fang Yan recognized Hoopa Unbound rampaging over Dahara Town and led the group toward it; Ash's Pikachu struck it with Thunderbolt and knocked it into the river.
• Fang Yan introduced himself and his companions to Ghris as messengers of Arceus, and Ghris asked them to hold off Hoopa Unbound while he made the Prison Bottle.
• Fang Yan and Cynthia Mega Evolved Latias and Garchomp to fight Hoopa Unbound, which summoned Lugia and then Rayquaza through its rings.
• Hoopa could not send the summoned Rayquaza back, so Fang Yan called out to Rayquaza, and Mega Rayquaza arrived through Hoopa's ring and attacked it.

Fang Yan and Mega Rayquaza fought Hoopa Unbound while Ash, Baraz, and Ghris made the Prison Bottle, and Xerneas’s blessing restored Fang Yan’s stamina. Mega Rayquaza gained power from the Giant Rainbow Rock and drove Hoopa Unbound back as Baraz arrived with the completed Prison Bottle.

• Mega Rayquaza answered Fang Yan’s call and attacked Hoopa Unbound, while Mega Garchomp and Latias fought the Rayquaza Hoopa had summoned.
• Hoopa Unbound stole the Giant Rainbow Rock from Mega Rayquaza, but Hoopa Confined retrieved it and handed it back to Rayquaza.
• Ghris discovered Baraz was his descendant from the future and taught him and Ash how to make the Prison Bottle.
• Fang Yan nearly collapsed from the stamina drain, but Xerneas’s blessing began transferring the cost of commanding Legendary Pokémon to Xerneas.
• Mega Rayquaza used the Giant Rainbow Rock and Fang Yan’s energy to overwhelm Hoopa Unbound, while its redirected Dragon Breath struck Ultra Necrozma in space.
• Baraz emerged from Dahara Tower with the completed Prison Bottle as Mega Rayquaza blocked Hoopa Unbound’s escape.
