Fang Yan inherited his great-aunt’s property and reopened her Pokémon Day Care, building a home with Gengar, the Machamp, and the Pokémon who came to stay. After helping Shauna begin bonding with a Chingling Egg, he accepted another Egg from Ninetales, who left to travel in fulfillment of Fang Moli’s wish.
Fang Yan’s Day Care welcomed new Pokémon and Cynthia while Shauna grew closer to its residents. When Hunter J set the forest ablaze to draw out Ninetales, Fang Yan fought to protect the Pokémon, but she escaped before the authorities could catch her.
Fang Yan helped save a forest, welcomed rescued Pokémon into his Day Care, and gave Celebi a fond farewell. As the Day Care grew into a refuge for Pokémon and people, Gary joined Fang Yan and a tournament began taking shape.
Fang Yan reopened the Pokémon Day Care with the Gengar Cup and a town festival, while Shauna, Gary, and the Pokémon shared in the celebrations and farewells. After meeting Lugia and welcoming recovering Pokémon, Fang Yan expanded the Day Care and arranged improvements to the surrounding road and land.
Fang Yan helped rebuild Day Care Road, welcomed new Pokémon and visitors, and supported Shauna as she befriended and helped a Shiny Ponyta evolve. As Cynthia and Gary visited, Fang Yan settled the Zangoose and Seviper conflict and prepared to continue life at the Day Care while Gary set out for Sinnoh.
Fang Yan helped Twinleaf Town survive a contagious fever outbreak, then celebrated its recovery and expanded the Pokémon Day Care. After learning that Team Galactic was targeting the Lake Guardians, he joined the response in Eterna City and vowed to stop Cyrus’s plans.
Fang Yan expanded the Pokémon Day Care, opened Mime Jr.’s canteen, and helped the Pokémon around him grow while building closer ties with Cynthia and Lance. When Team Galactic’s attempt to control the Lake Guardians and Legendary Birds turned into a battle, Fang Yan stopped the birds from fighting and invited them to wait at his Day Care.
Fang Yan opened a dessert and herbal remedy shop, helped Pokémon and Trainers through personal troubles, and welcomed old and new residents at the Day Care. After resolving harbor dangers and deepening bonds with his Pokémon, he ended the stretch celebrating with them at a forest hot spring.
Fang Yan helped Charizard and Geodude overcome their troubles while his Pokémon Day Care welcomed old friends, new guests, and a growing community. After Cynthia and the others departed, the Zangoose and Seviper rivalry drew Trainers to the area, and Fang Yan began expanding the grounds for battles as Ash arrived.
Fang Yan’s snowy days at the Pokémon Day Care were interrupted when Team Galactic captured the Lake Guardians, and he helped stop Cyrus’s plan before making peace with the Legendary Birds. Back home, he resumed his forest duties, settled a dispute over a cave, and learned more about Steelix’s history with Grandaunt.
Fang Yan and the Pokémon Day Care began delivering food, welcomed visitors, and celebrated Shauna’s growing friendships and interest in battling. The arc ended with Latias arriving at the Day Care and accepting Fang Yan’s welcome gift.
Fang Yan helped Gary’s Shieldon evolve, earned the Canalave Gym Badge, and stopped Kodai’s plot in Crown City before bringing Zoroark and Zorua to the Day Care. As he prepared for upcoming visits and celebrations, Steven arrived with an unidentified Mega Stone that Shauna connected to a Pokémon she had seen.
Fang Yan helped save Alamos Town from Palkia and Dialga, then traveled with Cynthia to Hisui to care for Celebi and confront the Three Clouds. After Enamorus helped reunite the two Celebi, Fang Yan and Cynthia returned to their own time.
Fang Yan celebrated Christmas with his friends, then helped contain Regigigas and continued caring for the Pokémon and people around the Day Care. After Xiang'an earned Riolu’s approval, Fang Yan traveled to Galar with Lugia and the Sinnoh Legendary Birds, where they encountered Galar’s Legendary Birds.
Fang Yan settled Galar’s Legendary Birds’ conflict, helped stop Giratina’s rampage, and returned to the Day Care to train Pokémon and assist nearby towns. The stretch ended with the Day Care expanding, rescued Eggs arriving, and Fang Yan celebrating the New Year with Cynthia, Shauna, and his Pokémon.
Fang Yan helped resolve the Arceus crisis, returned to life at the Pokémon Day Care, and then traveled with Shauna and Zhishi to watch the Lily of the Valley Conference. As the tournament advanced to the semifinals, Tobias defeated A Lan, and Fang Yan prepared to face him alongside Latias.
Fang Yan defeated Cynthia and began a relationship with her, then expanded the Pokémon Day Care and took in several new Pokémon. After investigating a cave where Trainers had vanished, he rescued Larvitar and brought its family to the Day Care.
Fang Yan cared for the Pokémon Day Care, defeated Diantha in battle, and drew attention with Gengar’s popular cartoon. After learning that Unova faced growing danger, he agreed to help, then discovered the wider stakes of his role and received Arceus’s blessing.
Fang Yan won a martial arts tournament, earned recognition as a Pokémon Professor, and continued assessing Gym Leaders. When Pokémon at Striaton Academy fell ill amid a brewing storm, he discovered Zekrom nearby and flew to Abundant Shrine, where Shauntal and Ash were facing the Forces of Nature.
Fang Yan helped N and Ash stop Team Plasma, then took on temporary Champion duties while continuing life at the Pokémon Day Care. After pirates targeted Manaphy's Egg near Twinleaf Town, Shauna hatched Manaphy and the group visited its underwater palace before Fang Yan helped the Muzhis travel to Grandma’s childhood friend.
