Background / History

Ancient records describe the Sea of Chaos as arising from the collision and interweaving of Chaos Qi, which gave birth to stars and innumerable universes. The Chaos Judgment Sword was forged from its first wisp of Chaos Qi and is said to possess the authority to judge all laws 249.

By the time of the Dark Star crisis, powerful beings within the Sea of Chaos were already stirring. A dark-gold giant armed with a destructive axe emerged from its depths, followed by a colossal Lord of Chaos wielding a Chaos Scepter; their presence threw the laws of the Myriad Realms into disorder 177 180 181.

During the conflict with the Source of Entropy Silence, the Sea became the battlefield for a struggle over its laws and universes. Anomalous Cosmic Eggs released ancient powers that formed a Law Storm, while the Source of Entropy Silence distorted the Sea itself by drawing energy from its depths 246 247. Following the enemy's defeat, the Sea began to heal, though corrupted remnants continued to reorganize and threaten a new Entropy Silence matrix 247 248.

Chu Mo's search for the three fragments of the Chaos Judgment Sword destabilized a chained sleeping existence in the Sea's depths. Retrieving the fragment in the Abyss of Time broke three of its chains; repairing the sword in the Rift of Space left nine chains broken and identified the sleeper as the First Generation Chaos Judgment Holder 250 252.

Later conflicts cracked both the Gate of Eternity and the Sea's origin. The resulting dark-purple fissures leaked corrosive disordered energy that blackened and rotted Cosmic Eggs, making repair of the Sea an immediate priority 260.
