Appearance

• Dragon form: A blue-scaled dragon, initially much smaller than Senegos or Krasus. She later develops the body of a mature blue dragon 90 91 642 827.
• Humanoid form: A female High Elf with shoulder-length blue hair, blue eyes, and a blue robe, resembling an ordinary elven mage 90 292.
• Magical presence: Her arrival through a portal can lower the surrounding temperature even before she fully emerges 642.
• Resemblance to Sindragosa: Becomes increasingly pronounced after receiving her power. Senegos briefly mistakes Stellagosa for Sindragosa when she returns home 440 827.

Personality

Stellagosa begins as friendly, curious, and sheltered. Having previously encountered only Nightfallen and Night Elves, she initially asks whether Aaron is a new kind of elf. She habitually addresses him as “friend” until he asks her to use his name, and she is excited to undertake her first long journey 90 102.

Her inexperience does not prevent her from accepting responsibility. She insists on accompanying Aaron and Vereesa back to the Nightfallen because the ley-line dispute concerns her own flight. She also favors negotiation, even offering to speak with the Infinite dragons attacking the Dreadwake 93 274.

Despite her strength, Stellagosa is emotionally sensitive. Seeing a dragon’s corpse for the first time unsettles her, and Sylvanas’s intimidating manner leaves her uncomfortable even when Stellagosa is substantially stronger. When directly threatened, however, she can respond with lethal fury, as demonstrated against the succubus and demons at the demon gate 120 657 662.

Background / History

Azurewing Whelplands and the Nightfallen

Stellagosa grew up under Senegos’s protection in Azurewing Whelplands. The habitat could sustain a blue dragon community but did not support normal development: whelps struggled to become young dragons, and young dragons struggled to reach adulthood. Stellagosa nevertheless became the settlement’s strongest available aerial scout 90 91.

Concerned that mana extraction at the Zarkhenar Ley Line Ruins was weakening her grandfather, she investigated and attempted to negotiate. The Nightfallen attacked instead. After Aaron and Vereesa helped her, she invited them home so Senegos could thank them, then returned with them to attempt negotiations again 90 92 93.

The confrontation escalated after Stellagosa inadvertently revealed Senegos’s weakened condition to Farondis. During the resulting invasion, she freed her companions from magical restraints, directed the young dragons against the Withered, and pursued the giant arcane construct threatening her grandfather. Senegos later assured her that she could not have anticipated Farondis’s actions 99 101.

First Journey with Aaron

Senegos sent Stellagosa with Aaron to search for Truthguard, recognizing that continued isolation would not prepare her for future responsibilities. He wanted her to develop independence and learn to work with other intelligent races 101 102.

She accompanied Aaron and Vereesa through Stormheim, fought Helya’s projection, and entered Ygrim’s chamber during Aaron’s search for the shield. In Suramar, she helped investigate the protected seed in the Temple of the Moon and identified its surrounding pillars as power conduits. Farodin interrupted her attempted transformation before Aaron revealed his identity 113 114 124 133 134.

After returning to Azsuna, Stellagosa resumed training under Senegos. She also began helping Farodin study the Seed of Arcan’dor, remaining away from home long enough for her grandfather to complain about her absence 137 268.

Northrend and Sindragosa’s Gift

When Aaron sought the Dragonflights’ help against the threats in Northrend, Senegos assigned Stellagosa to accompany him to Wyrmrest Temple. During the voyage, she developed an unexplained sadness and sensed a call that intensified as they traveled north. Kalecgos reported a similar sensation originating near Icecrown Glacier 268 291 292 293.

Stellagosa joined the expedition investigating Sindragosa’s remains. The resurrected queen’s presence caused both her and Kalecgos to tremble uncontrollably. Once Sindragosa regained her lucidity, Stellagosa explained her upbringing and Senegos’s departure from Coldarra; Sindragosa then bestowed her final gift upon her 296 299 303.

The gift accelerated Stellagosa’s delayed maturation. She entered a prolonged sleep and later returned as an adult, joining the fighting against the Naga and subsequently the aerial campaign against the Scourge 304 356 357 369.

Return to Coldarra and Aid to Mortals

Stellagosa accompanied Aaron, Sapphiron, and Krasus to invite Senegos’s community back to Coldarra. When her grandfather asked her opinion, she supported the move for the sake of her younger brothers and sisters, whose development had suffered in Azurewing Whelplands. Senegos agreed to relocate 440 441.

She later arrived among the dragons reinforcing Dalaran and identified herself to Sylvanas as a blue dragon ordered to support mortals against the Scourge. At Quel’Danas, she led the blue dragons repairing the Sunwell’s tangled ley lines. She subsequently created a temporary ice crossing that helped the Alliance expedition reach its evacuation portal 642 656 695 699.

Ascension as Guardian of Arcane

When a new leader and Guardian of Arcane had to be chosen, Stellagosa was among the strongest surviving blue dragons. Malygos selected her over Arygos and Kalecgos, taking into account her strength, Arygos’s instability, his debt to Senegos, and her growing resemblance to Sindragosa 827.

Her coronation took place at the Nexus. Malygos supplied the arcane energy, while Odyn exercised the authorization needed to grant her the Guardian’s authority. Stellagosa endured the lengthy ritual with Senegos encouraging her from below; Deathwing attacked as it approached completion 827.

By the operation outside Ny’alotha, she had become the new Guardian of Arcane. Using the Tidestone and Scepter of Tides, she parted the sea to expose the seabed without disturbing the nearby fleet 831.

Arcane Magic and Ley-Line Perception

• Exceptional sensitivity: Detects arcane activity more clearly than Kael’thas during the Naga assault and recognizes that multiple spellcasters are working together 272.
• Direct ley-line sight: Possesses the rare ability to see ley lines directly, a talent uncommon even among blue dragons 695.

Dragon Breath and Frost Magic

• Freezing attacks: Immobilizes Helya’s projection, freezes aggressive Nerubian hatchlings, and shatters demons into ice fragments 113 114 363 662.
