Personality

Lu Feng is eager to secure a promising future through service to a capable superior. After sharing Chu He’s Trial Peak, he personally delivers his supplies and explains the political connections of other recruits. He is delighted when Chu He later selects him for his squad 2 7.

His loyalty does not eliminate his caution. He questions discrepancies in the Moon Ancient Village mission briefing, fears entering a village that swallowed an earlier squad, and worries about the consequences of Chu He offending influential people 8 19 23.

Despite these anxieties, he follows orders promptly and increasingly adopts Chu He’s confrontational methods. At Nine Nether Town, he threatens the patrol captain who blocks their entry. His admiration also rests on Chu He’s generosity: after his superior’s apparent death, Lu Feng recalls how Chu He divided most of their seized treasures among his men 32 48.

Abilities & Skills

Saber Combat

• Fights with a Demon-Suppressing Saber and joins the battle against Moon Ancient Village’s Undying Corpses 10.
• Initially bisects a corpse, then retreats and splits it vertically when its upper half continues attacking. Chu He subsequently identifies the head as the creatures’ weak point 10.

History

Recruitment and Assignment

Lu Feng undergoes the Bureau’s trial on the same Trial Peak as Chu He. Afterward, he delivers Chu He’s squad leader uniform, saber, and token, then accompanies him to the Technique Repository. There, he quietly explains Sun Feng’s relationship to Hundred Household Commander Sun and the latter’s rivalry with Zhang Wei 2.

After reaching First Grade and passing his prison assessment, Lu Feng is selected alongside Zhao Guang, Tai Shan, Bai Tianyu, and Fang Zhou to serve under Chu He. Their first outside assignment is the investigation of Moon Ancient Village 7.

Moon Ancient Village

Lu Feng notices that the briefing omits the disappearance of an entire Demon Suppression Guard squad. Although frightened, he proceeds after Chu He rebukes the squad’s hesitation and promises to request recognition for their contributions 8.

Inside the village, Chu He stops him from drinking the suspicious tea by kicking him away, then signals the guards to conceal and discard it. That night, Lu Feng fights the Undying Corpses and helps block the green-robed Divine Sword Sect disciple’s escape before Chu He kills her with his copper coin 9 10 11.

Following the confrontation, Chu He orders the squad to report that the sect disciples had defected to the White Lotus Cult and plotted rebellion. Lu Feng and his companions leave deeply impressed by their superior’s ruthlessness and confidence 11 12.

Green Mountain Commandery and Return

Lu Feng accompanies Chu He home and receives lodging in the Chu residence. He subsequently participates in the investigation of drained corpses and rejoins Chu He at the Mountain God Temple, where he helps retrieve the Blood-Devouring Spirit Ghost’s body 12 14 17.

Back at headquarters, he supplies the legal justification Chu He requests before killing a Divine Sword Sect challenger at the entrance. He then obeys the order to clean up the scene. After Chu He’s promotion to Company Commander, Lu Feng and the other four are instructed to spend their forthcoming merit on cultivation resources so they can keep pace with him 23 24.

Nine Nether Town and the Memorial

During the journey involving Nine Nether Town, Lu Feng verbally confronts Zhao Yizhi and later threatens the patrol captain who attempts to stop Chu He at the town gate 28 32.

After Chu He’s apparent death, Lu Feng participates in the search and reports that even draining the river has failed to uncover a body. He prepares for the cenotaph burial and holds the tray bearing Chu He’s posthumously awarded crimson robe during the memorial. When Chu He returns alive, Lu Feng rejoices and subsequently hands him the robe 47 48 49.

Relationships
