Background / History
Transmigration and Tribal Leadership
Big Pineapple was a successful Earth livestreamer who had received nineteen years of education and had no desire to leave his comfortable life. Opening My Civilization (Closed Beta) during a broadcast unexpectedly sent him into Su Mo's little universe. He awoke with four arms and discovered that livestream comments appeared directly before his eyes 22 23 25.
After fleeing giant creatures and being swept underwater, he recovered among the four-armed inhabitants. He taught them fire-making, cooking, bows, arrows, and spears, becoming their leader within a month. His settlement grew from just over fifty people to more than three hundred as neighboring tribes joined 23 25.
He named the people the Asura Clan because “Asura” was the only word they could shout; otherwise, they communicated through gestures. With advice from Chinese viewers, he united additional tribes and gained recognition as a sage 27.
The Tablets and the Previous Civilization
Tablets brought by a joining tribe included inscriptions in simplified Chinese. Big Pineapple resumed broadcasting to investigate them, attracting the attention of Liu Dajun, a previous transmigrator who claimed to have written them 24 25.
Liu Dajun explained that eight civilizations had already risen and fallen on the planet, making Big Pineapple's civilization the ninth. He warned of a god who periodically destroyed civilizations and advised Big Pineapple to recover the Ultra Empire's weapons and seek its foremost laboratory as a possible route home. The Great Xia military also promised to care for his parents regardless of whether he agreed to assist the country 26.
Awakening and the Ant Queen's Escape
Food shortages drove Big Pineapple to lead more than a thousand people west toward ancient ruins. Near a vast lake, he experienced overwhelming pain, guilt, sorrow, and suicidal thoughts. The ordeal proved to be a supernatural trial, after which he acquired telekinesis and pain-inducing powers 27 31 32.
His first public display disabled more than fifty giant mosquitoes, but the cost of using his abilities left him screaming in agony. Embarrassed, he stopped streaming for over half a year and concentrated on excavating an underground city 32 33.
Within the ruins, he mistook a giant egg for an “Ultra Egg.” After viewers explained that Ultraman was a manufactured robot, he tried to have the egg prepared as food instead. The attempt hatched a nearly two-hundred-meter flying ant. Warned that it might establish a colony, he pursued it, but it awakened fire-based supernatural powers and escaped their battle 34 35 36 37 38.
Building the Yanhuang Tribe
Over the following decade, Big Pineapple taught farming, animal husbandry, breeding, and forging. He also discovered how to awaken supernatural abilities in Asuras using lake water and his pain power. The fortress was repaired, Mandarin spread, and the Yanhuang Tribe reached three hundred thousand people 38.
During this period, he continued searching both for the escaped ant and for the Ultra Empire's laboratory. With Liu Dajun's guidance, he eventually entered the laboratory, only to learn that its failing backup systems could support a return to his original time for just seven more days 39.
The deadline forced him to weigh his parents on Earth against Yu Ji, their unborn child, and the civilization that revered him. He recorded technology and plans extending three hundred years into the Asuras' future, but remained unable to choose 39 40.
Permanent Exile and the Mosquito War
The giant Black Armored Beast and Dark Tiga destroyed the laboratory before Big Pineapple resolved his dilemma. With his route home severed, he felt relief from the burden of choosing and committed himself to the Asura civilization. This change allowed him to become a first-order Transcendent 42.
He evacuated his people to an underground refuge while Glitter Tiga delayed their pursuers. The subsequent mosquito plague devastated the surface, and starvation killed 120,000 Asuras. After his son Zhang Aimin was born, Big Pineapple briefly broadcast a message to his parents before leading thirty thousand warriors into a three-year campaign to secure food 42.
Fewer than ten thousand of those warriors survived, but mosquito corpses sustained the underground population. By the fifth year, mosquito numbers had fallen and the Asura population had recovered to 150,000—only for giant ants to begin appearing aboveground 42.
Final Campaign and Death
Big Pineapple blamed himself for the disasters that had struck his people, including the escape of the ant queen he had hatched. He taught his son that kingship required study and civilization-building, not merely fighting, while treating his own campaigns as attempts to make amends 43.
An expedition of five thousand Asuras killed the two-thousand-meter Black Armored Beast by attacking it from within. An ant army attacked afterward, costing a thousand lives and leaving Big Pineapple badly wounded. Over the next twenty years, the population recovered to three hundred thousand, but the expanding ant empire remained an existential threat 43.
As his strength declined, he returned to his viewers for help. Following their advice, he spent more than half a year preparing ant-shell disguises, gunpowder, and oil. He entrusted Yu Ji and the clan's future to Zhang Aimin before departing with fifty warriors 43 44.
The group infiltrated the nest, but their explosives failed to kill the queen. Big Pineapple abandoned retreat and unleashed a thousand-meter telekinetic saber. The resulting fire burned for more than three days and killed countless ants, yet the queen survived with her body half-severed. Big Pineapple never returned 45.
Earthbound Spirit and Breakdown
After death, Big Pineapple remained trapped in the ruined nest as an earthbound spirit. His livestream continued, and viewers provided his only companionship through ten years underground 45 46 47.
Yu Ji eventually reached the site but could neither see nor hear him. Finding his saber, she took her own life in the belief that she could join him. Big Pineapple could only watch: his hands passed through her, and his pleas went unheard 47.
He later watched Zhang Aimin wage repeated campaigns against the ants without ever being able to speak to him. His son died at 109, still believing he had failed to fulfill his promise to his parents. Big Pineapple's grief and resentment deepened until Su Mo identified him as a Resentful Soul with level-four potential 47 48.
After attaining second-tier strength, he could finally influence the outside world, but still could not escape. Zhang Baoguo, his granddaughter and the third Asura monarch, approached the black mist surrounding his prison. He initially dismissed her claim to kingship as a lie; she then declared that her father was Zhang Aimin 49.
Appearance
- Asura body: Four arms, with two on each side. He is described as hideous, although other Asuras consider his build scrawny 23 24 25.
- Early clothing: Tree bark, later animal hides and wild grass 24 32.
- Awakening signs: Brief black mist in his eyes and the faint phantom of a third eye between his brows 31.
- Later life: Develops a beard, a weathered face, and an authoritative bearing that viewers notice when he returns to streaming 44.
- Spirit form: Initially an illusory floating figure; later becomes pitch-black, with crimson eyes and dense black Qi 45 48 49.
Personality
Initially theatrical, foul-mouthed, and eager for attention, Big Pineapple treats his new abilities as an opportunity to impress his viewers. He frequently threatens to end broadcasts when comments obscure his vision or embarrass him. His disastrous first power demonstration leaves him too ashamed to stream for over half a year 23 24 32 33.
His early fear of pain also affects practical decisions. He avoids using his powers whenever possible and seeks ancient weapons partly to spare himself their side effects. This reluctance prevents his advancement for a decade 34 42.
Years of leadership make him more restrained and responsible. He prioritizes preserving his people over defending buildings, refuses to send every willing Asura into battle, and insists that his son study rather than imitate his fighting. His sense of responsibility is inseparable from guilt over the calamities he believes he caused 39 42 43.
After Yu Ji's death, he stops responding to his audience. Unable to comfort his family or escape his prison, he becomes consumed by resentment toward the ants and the world itself. Even the restoration of his ability to affect matter brings anger rather than relief because it comes too late to save or speak to those he loved 48 49.
Abilities & Skills
Telekinesis
Manipulates objects and his own body through mental force 32 33.
- Flight: Lifts and propels himself through the air 31 32.
- Constructed blades: Forms tangible sabers, including forty-meter and twenty-meter blades against the awakened ant, and a thousand-meter saber in his final battle 38 45.
- Mental and physical attacks: Alternates intangible attacks on the queen's mind with tangible strikes against her body 45.
- Cost: Causes severe pain proportional to the duration and intensity of use. Early overexertion makes him lose control and fall from the air 32 33.
Feel Pain / Great Pain Technique
Forces enemies to experience intense suffering. Big Pineapple himself is uncertain whether this and telekinesis count as one ability or two 33 37 38.
- Incapacitates more than fifty giant mosquitoes in one engagement 32 33.
- Knocks the flying ant out of the sky 37.
- Does not guarantee a kill: the mosquitoes require finishing blows, and the ant survives 33 38.
Supernatural Awakening
Develops a method for granting Asuras powers by combining water from the Lake of Despair with his ability to stir pain within their bodies 38 48.
- Recipients awaken differing abilities; flight is not universal 39.
- Their powers carry painful side effects like his own 39.
- Su Mo assesses this borrowed-power path as limited to the peak of level two, unlike Big Pineapple's independently developed Resentful Soul potential 48.
Resentful Soul Powers
Retains consciousness after bodily death and develops new powers through resentment 46 48.
- Mental perception: Perceives his surroundings without relying on his eyes 48.
- Destructive black Qi: Withers nearby plants, shatters rocks, and destroys a mosquito through a furious roar 49.
- Physical influence: Regains the ability to affect the material world at second-tier strength 49.
- Confinement: Remains bound to his death site by an invisible barrier despite repeatedly attacking it 46 49.
