Background / History

Sasuke entered the Ninja Academy as a proud Uchiha student admired by many of the girls in his class. He liked dango, disliked “idiots,” and initially wanted to become a ninja as excellent as his older brother, Itachi. 3

When Sasuke was seven, Itachi massacred the Uchiha clan and left Sasuke alive. The event left him sleepless, traumatized, and consumed by the desire for revenge; afterward, he abandoned his former interests and made vengeance his sole purpose. 18

His early rivalry with Xia Mu repeatedly exposed the gap between them. Xia Mu defeated Sasuke through tactics, speed, and genjutsu, leading Sasuke to question why Xia Mu was so strong. 19 25 43 Rather than distancing himself, Sasuke later sought Xia Mu’s training advice and accepted his assessment that unstable emotions and low chakra reserves were his two major weaknesses. 65 66

Seeking sufficient power to confront Itachi, Sasuke located the Three-Tails and asked Xia Mu to help him become its Jinchuriki. He successfully sealed the beast, using its chakra to bolster his Water, Fire, and Lightning Release while working to suppress its negative emotions. 110 114

Sasuke eventually confronted Itachi at the Naka Shrine, where his Three-Tails transformation and swordsmanship broke through Susanoo’s defenses. Itachi removed Orochimaru’s Curse Mark, sealed Orochimaru with the Totsuka Blade, and died after leaving Sasuke his ocular power. 132 133 Xia Mu subsequently revealed that Itachi had acted under orders from Konoha’s higher-ups while demanding Sasuke’s survival, prompting Sasuke’s Mangekyo Sharingan awakening. 134
