Background / History
Early Life
Li Changsheng arrived in the world without parents and was adopted by Rousi, the chief of Soul King Village. After Rousi’s death, he lived alone, taking commissions to fund Luo Sanpao’s diet of Soul Beast meat. Upon reaching rank thirty-five at eighteen, he qualified as an official teacher at Nuoding Academy 1.
His knowledge of the original story influenced his decisions before his system appeared. Anticipating Tang San’s enrollment, he waited near the academy gates and intercepted the boy’s Martial Soul certificate when Old Jack brought him to register 1.
Teaching at Nuoding Academy
Li Changsheng won Tang San’s respect by arguing that ambition mattered more than whether a Martial Soul was considered worthless. Tang San requested discipleship, activating Li Changsheng’s system, and became his first student. Li Changsheng then provided bedding, toiletries, food, money, theoretical instruction, and guidance through his first Soul Ring hunt 2 3 4 6 10.
Yu Xiaogang repeatedly attempted to recruit Tang San, bringing the two teachers into open conflict. When Yu Xiaogang proposed wagering Tang San’s discipleship on a duel, Li Changsheng refused to treat his student as something to trade and offered his theories instead 7 8.
Xiao Wu became his second disciple. Over the following years, he supervised both students’ cultivation and body tempering, supplied refined whale rubber, and developed individualized Self-Created Soul Skill plans 14 16 18.
Joining Shrek Academy
Li Changsheng initially distrusted Shrek Academy’s poor conditions and its philosophy of encouraging students to cause trouble. He reconsidered after receiving a Shrek area template conversion reward and unlocking a system-mediated connection with Flender, giving him an opportunity to reform the academy 15 19.
At Shrek, he donated twenty Gold Soul Coins, became the theory and practical combat teacher, and conducted an entrance assessment against Tang San, Xiao Wu, Zhu Zhuqing, and Ning Rongrong. He later supplied the academy’s operating permit and renovation certificate and urged the assembled Shrek Seven Devils to build trust rather than cling to personal airs 22 24 28.
Ah Yin and Specialized Training
Li Changsheng revealed that Tang San’s mother was Ah Yin, a Hundred-Thousand-Year Blue Silver Emperor who had sacrificed herself for Tang Hao. He took Tang San to meet her, recovered her hidden right leg bone for him, and later transplanted her into a flowerpot so they could take her away 34 37 38 39.
Back at Shrek, Flender and Zhao Wuji entrusted him with the students’ education and training. His specialized program emphasized precise Soul Power control, individual weaknesses, teamwork, medicinal baths, and the development of Self-Created Soul Skills 41 43.
Appearance
- Hair: Medium-length, pale white hair worn loose over his shoulders 1.
- Face: Handsome features, prominent brow bones, and long, narrow eyes with a melancholy, experienced look 1.
- Clothing: A dark blue, high-collared robe with a broad, light-colored scarf; Xiao Wu later describes a blue-gray standing-collar coat and light blue scarf 1 12.
- Bearing: Resembles a learned bard and physically resembles the manga version of Yu Xiaogang 1 2.
- Apparent age at Shrek: Ning Rongrong judges him to look no older than twenty-five despite his rank-fifty-five cultivation 24.
Personality
Li Changsheng combines practical generosity with strong protectiveness toward his students. He buys Tang San high-quality necessities without begrudging the expense, encourages him to use gifted money for his own needs, and promises both disciples protection from mistreatment. He explicitly rejects treating Tang San’s future as a wager 3 8 10 14.
As a teacher, he values aspiration, comprehension, and independent judgment over innate talent alone. He recognizes Tang San’s emotional attachments as a strength, credits the boy’s achievements to his own understanding, and refuses to force students into mechanically attempting Self-Created Soul Skills without first thinking through their principles 2 11 18 36.
His gentle manner does not prevent him from being stern. During Shrek’s special training, he directly identifies wasteful habits and demands persistence. He also maintains a courteous public manner because he considers himself a representative of Nuoding Academy outside its grounds 15 43.
Privately, he is more irreverent and calculating. He mocks Yu Xiaogang’s claims, considers how plot developments can generate system rewards, and keeps a powerful emergency card ready when Tang Hao visits unexpectedly 7 17 34.

- Character templates: Rewards include manga versions of Tang San, Zhu Zhuqing, and Ning Rongrong 6 22.
- Relationship control: Template-linked connections depend on his intentions rather than being automatically imposed 4.
