"Shouldn't that wish of yours be pretty easy to fulfill?"
Chen Xia asked in puzzlement.
It was just losing his virginity. Plenty of people wished to lose their virginity before eighteen, or even twenty-five.
Of course, there was no need to discuss anyone over twenty-five. If someone still hadn't lost his virginity by twenty-five, Chen Xia suggested he preserve his virgin body.
Because that was honestly really cool, okay?
Of course, he didn't count.
Captain Gorilla nodded, rubbing his chin. "But do you think I should do it with a gorilla, or with a human?"
That really was a difficult question.
Because Captain Gorilla was simply too huge.
He was huge in every respect.
So Chen Xia wasn't quite sure what to say either.
Looking deeply troubled, Captain Gorilla muttered,
"If I do it with a gorilla, I can't get past the psychological barrier. If I do it with a human, I can't get past the physical barrier."
"That really is a difficult problem," Chen Xia agreed.
The two offered their own views on the issue. Chen Xia thought that if Captain Gorilla could get past the psychological barrier, he could consider starting a harem in the forest.
Captain Gorilla nodded. "Sounds good. If I ever get my freedom, I'll head to the forest."
"Good, good, good." Chen Xia nodded.
"Actually, dying wouldn't be so bad either, would it? I heard you can reincarnate into another world," Captain Gorilla suddenly said.
"Where do you want to reincarnate?" Chen Xia asked.
A look of longing appeared on Captain Gorilla's face. "The anime world, of course. I heard there are gorilla girls there."
Chen Xia fell silent, unwilling to comment.
"I heard you're an orphan, right? And you live under an overpass?" Captain Gorilla suddenly asked with concern.
"Yeah." Chen Xia leaned against the railing, turning his head to look downstairs.
He smelled something unusual in the wind.
Captain Gorilla smiled guilelessly. "Come stay at my place once this mission is over. I've still got two empty rooms."
Chen Xia didn't answer.
Because the wind had picked up.
Bang!
A deafening noise suddenly erupted from a floor inside. Flames spread, and shards of glass scattered.
Captain Gorilla moved instantly. Without a second thought, he charged inside toward that floor, shouting to Chen Xia,
"Wait here! If there's danger, run first! Don't worry about me!"
Without waiting for Chen Xia's reply, he had already rushed into the building.
Chen Xia got up and headed outside. He didn't want to get involved. As for Captain Gorilla, he should be able to protect himself, right?
Thinking this, Chen Xia reached the building's entrance. He planned to wait a little longer before making a run for it. That way, the world's will wouldn't reject him either.
Through his tests over the past two days, Chen Xia had already discovered the rules behind the world's will's rejection. As long as he didn't step out of line, its influence on him was minimal.
For instance, as a Night Hawk who had aspired since childhood to become an ally of justice, he certainly couldn't do bad things that went against his character. Of course, simply running away wouldn't do either. That would show far too little sense of justice.
So Chen Xia planned to stay a little longer before running. That way, the new government's people wouldn't suspect him of anything either.
After all, he was only an E-rank Night Hawk. What else could he do but run?
He pulled out the same banana-flavored cigarettes Captain Gorilla smoked, planning to smoke two before leaving.
But just as he lit the first one, someone arrived at the entrance, wearing a pale mask, his burly body carrying a chainsaw as tall as a person.
He might as well have written "I'm here to kill" on his face.
Chen Xia's expression remained unchanged. He only needed to treat this person like an ordinary person, and that wouldn't trigger the world's will's rejection either.
So he opened the door and politely addressed the chainsaw man.
"Welcome."
A savage laugh came from behind the burly chainsaw man's pale mask. "You little vermin. I'm going to cut you limb from limb and hang you over the entrance."
Chen Xia lowered his head, pretending not to hear, and continued, "Please head to the thirteenth floor for the academic symposium."
He had picked a floor at random.
"I'm going to kill you! Hahaha!" The chainsaw's roar sounded like a summons to death as it rapidly approached Chen Xia.
Motherfucker.
A little irritated, Chen Xia raised his head, kicked through the iron railing beside him, and picked up an iron rod. He tossed away the cigarette in his mouth and casually stamped it out.
If they really pissed him off, the next thing to visit this world wouldn't be a mere wisp of his divine sense.
He'd flip the table outright. Nobody would get to play anymore!
The chainsaw sounded very close now, its buzzing pouring into his ears.
Chen Xia looked up, gripped the iron rod with both hands, and swung hard. It tore a howl through the air that even drowned out the chainsaw!
The sounds of snapping bones rang out one after another!
One swing was all it took.
It knocked the burly chainsaw man straight to his knees, smashing apart half his shoulder and arm.
Chen Xia tossed aside the bent iron rod, lit a cigarette, and asked, "Have you always been this brave?"
There was no answer.
Because the chainsaw man was already half-dead, making unintelligible whimpers.
He probably hadn't imagined that a casual urge to kill would provoke a terrifying existence from beyond this world like Chen Xia.
It was like happily going fishing in your own pond, only to reel in your line and discover a fucking megalodon.
How the fuck am I supposed to fight that?
The chainsaw man probably breathed his last with that sort of feeling.
Chen Xia exhaled a mouthful of smoke, held a bent finger in front of the chainsaw man, and suddenly flicked it, putting a final end to his half-dead life.
He looked back at the building, considering whether he should go help Captain Gorilla.
There shouldn't be any need, right?
He frowned in thought.
Besides, reincarnating into the anime world really was one of the gorilla's dreams. It wouldn't be right for him to interfere.
That was what he thought, but things often didn't turn out quite so perfectly.
Explosions began ripping through the building floor by floor. All the windows shattered, and flames filled the sky.
Chen Xia raised a hand in front of himself, deflecting the glass fragments. His eyes narrowed slightly. He saw a figure plummeting at tremendous speed.
The wind grew louder, howling deafeningly.
Flames danced.
The figure fell wreathed in burning flames and slammed into the ground with a bang.
Chen Xia tilted his head to look.
It was Captain Gorilla.
His face was filled with terror as he shouted to Chen Xia,
"Run!"
"No need," Chen Xia replied calmly. With a flick of his leather shoe's toe, he sent the bent iron rod on the ground into his hand, then brushed the dust off his suit's shoulder.
A pitch-black figure had already appeared before him, standing right outside the entrance. His gaze was utterly cold, like bitter winter, as he stared straight at Chen Xia.
"If possible, please rein in that rude gaze. It'll make your eventual death a little more comfortable."
Chen Xia offered him this advice.
The pitch-black figure said nothing, moving lightly as slender arms emerged from his robes. In a voice so indifferent it held no emotion, he stated,
"When Coffin operates, no Night Hawks can be left at the scene. That's our rule."
"I've always been very good at following rules."
The pitch-black figure's speech remained unhurried throughout, his hands slowly emerging from his loose sleeves.
Around them were falling glass fragments and dancing flames.
A pale color began to spread.
All of them suddenly stopped moving.
Holding the bent iron rod, Chen Xia had already flashed in front of the pitch-black figure, a transparent color filling his eyes!
Time Stop!
A deafening clang rang out.
The iron rod snapped.
The flames resumed their dance.
The pitch-black figure slammed through the entrance, smashing through the wall.
Chen Xia drew a cigarette from the pack, lit it with a dancing flame nearby, and put it in his mouth, saying indignantly,
"You've hogged almost all the fucking showing off. What's left for me?"
