Tom settled into Hogwarts, cultivated Professor Herbert’s support, and pursued independent magical research while Mo Fei studied Grindelwald’s stronghold, challenged his Acolytes, and sought Nicolas Flamel in France. The stretch left Mo Fei preparing to cook for the Flamel couple after learning that their flawed Philosopher’s Stone could not prevent their souls from eventually decaying.
Mo Fei enlisted Nicolas Flamel and Grindelwald in planning a wizard-only world while preparing to open a shop in Hogsmeade. At Hogwarts, Tom won the Slytherin banquet duel, explored dangerous magic, and became entangled in an attack on Peeves as Dippet’s investigation led Dumbledore to Aberforth and a suspicious Hill family house.
Dumbledore uncovered the Hill family’s connection to Grindelwald’s followers while Tom faced the rejection of his Gaunt relatives and began studying magic under Grindelwald. Mo Fei transformed the orphanage into a hidden magical refuge, and Dumbledore visited as he and Tom discussed the nature of Transfiguration.
