Background / History

Ace began as a highly methodical magical researcher concerned that his early spell repertoire lacked close-combat, defensive, mobility, and finishing options. He sought to compensate through rune research, improved spell models, experimentation, and eventually martial techniques. 28 60

He adopted alternate identities to separate his research and public actions from his true name. As Sharp, he experienced the freedom of role-playing another life; as Iron Masked Fire Fist, he hunted demonic beasts, gained recognition among caravans and demon hunters, and acquired experimental materials. 47 111

After reaching the Northern Territory, Ace developed a network of contracted wizard apprentices. He used magical contracts, magic books, suggestion-like spells, and a radiating mental network to organize survivors fleeing persecution by the city-states. He planned and led their migration into the Lar Mountains, where he intended to establish a wizard academy, a magic town, and eventually a lasting magical society. 127 140 150 171 179

As the High Tower developed, Ace increasingly combined research with governance. He promoted apprentices, founded academic institutions, directed magical production and education, formed alliances, and expanded the influence of wizard civilization. 261 291 393 558

His later advancement centered on dream, manifestation, fate, divine authority, and the magic net. He established a dream-based divine foundation, created Authority Treasure Tools for major realms, united deities under the Salia Alliance, and ultimately became a Ten Rings Wizard. 445 516 559 586 600

Appearance

Ace is commonly depicted in dark wizardly attire, though he frequently alters his form, appearance, and identity through transformation magic.

  • Silver hair visible when unmasked. 391
  • Often wears a black cloak or pure black magic robe. 143 391
  • Wears a hooded black robe while acting as Iron Masked Fire Fist. 47
  • Uses a white cat mask during his Fate stage-play activities. 518
  • Possesses an ahoge associated with the Book Spirit; it can be removed or act independently. 118 531
  • Manifests a vertical third eye when using the Spindle of Fate. 516
  • Can assume forms including a night raven, golden eagle, shadow form, dream form, and elemental bodies. 111 140 339

Personality

Ace is driven above all by the pursuit of knowledge. He treats magical phenomena, artifacts, living beings, and even deities as subjects worthy of study, while remaining conscious that certain research carries severe risks. 53 347

He is strategic, patient, and highly pragmatic. Ace routinely uses disguises, contracts, charms, magical suggestion, memory alteration, and carefully constructed public displays to protect his organization and shape outcomes. He explicitly places greater trust in spells and systems than in human goodwill. 140 144 347 409

Despite his utilitarian methods, Ace maintains a personal bottom line and repeatedly takes responsibility for those who follow him. He spared hostile shamans, resolved Ansesta and Arno's meditation problems, protected apprentices during crises, and prioritized the High Tower’s safety when his own presence would endanger it. 90 197 268

His deepest desires are identified as greed for knowledge and arrogance in research; he consciously uses both as fuel for his Heart Flame and advancement. 315

Abilities & Skills

Rune and Spell Research

Ace is an exceptional rune researcher capable of deciphering, reverse-engineering, modifying, and constructing spell models across multiple magical systems.

  • Deciphered more than a dozen soul runes from royal marvels despite the limits of his perception. 50
  • Reverse-engineered water-element soul runes to improve recovery magic. 118 120

Soul, Dream, and Mindscape Magic

Ace’s primary foundation is dream-based magic, centered on his Soul Secret Treasury Space, True Spirit, subconscious sea, and Mindscape.

  • Created a dream clone to oversee the nascent subconscious sea rather than merging with it. 235
  • Can control multiple bodies through his True Spirit, though doing so causes severe fatigue. 261
  • Created the Limited Time Mirror Technique, producing a temporary clone with one-twentieth of his strength. 261
  • Can manifest mental imagery over reality for a short time. 330
  • Remolded Alesha’s memories and implanted subconscious loyalty through repeated dream lives. 347
  • Built and later dominated a magic net connected to the dreamscape. 586

Transformation and Infiltration

Ace uses transformation and concealment as core tools for reconnaissance, experimentation, and covert intervention.

  • Assumes identities such as Sharp, Iron Masked Fire Fist, barbarian chieftains, O’Neil Danes, and ordinary workers. 47 192 409
  • Transforms into birds for travel and reconnaissance, including a night raven and golden eagle. 111 140
  • Achieved elementalization into earth, fire, wind, or water forms. 339
  • Uses stealth, shadow form, formless magic, and a rule-like obscuring ability to evade detection. 339

Elemental Magic

Ace employs destructive elemental spells and ring-based area magic.

  • Used a golden-orange flame ring to destroy Demon Fist Rats and a carriage. 47
  • Specialized in Pressure Track Flame Burst, capable of threatening Heroes through repeated casts. 90
  • Developed a six-element ring capable of freezing a battlefield and forming a devastating elemental sphere with death as its core. 387
  • Stabilized the Golden Elemental Ring and gained Elemental Annihilation Sphere. 408

Fate and Divination Magic

Ace can observe and manipulate fate through the Spindle of Fate and related predictive techniques.

  • Created the Starry Prediction Technique through a rational clone. 261
  • Refined astrological divination with calculus-based calculations. 316
  • Uses the Spindle of Fate as a third eye that sees Power of Fate and Threads of Fate rather than ordinary sight. 516
  • Weaves Fate stage plays to harvest fate power, though failure can cause severe backlash. 518

Heart Flame and Warrior Research

Ace researches the interaction of willpower, Heart Power, virtue runes, and martial cultivation.

  • Created the dangerous Courage Rune, which can strengthen mortals but harmed or killed unsuitable apprentice-level subjects. 197
  • Determined that mimicked Courage Runes and mimicked Heart Power both strongly resist mental control. 197
  • Used his research to restore Ansesta and Arno’s ability to meditate. 197
  • Ignited his Heart Flame through the Willfire Seed and used it to refine heterogeneous magic power. 315
  • Passed the perfected Blood Energy and Heart Flame path to Luna. 568

Mental Influence and Control

Ace possesses numerous methods for influencing perception, emotion, memory, and loyalty.

  • Uses charm spells to control individuals and gather intelligence. 111
  • Creates suggestion-like effects by simulating induction, sympathy, and will runes; these amplify emotions already present rather than directly replacing them. 140
  • Conducts loyalty checks through illusion and charm effects. 140
