Lu Chen faced the King of Persia’s renewed threat, helped stop the Masked Man’s capture of Ho-Oh, and traveled to Cameran Palace with Cynthia, Aaron, and Blue. There, a rampaging Lucario and Mew’s journey to the Tree of Beginning led the group toward secrets from Lu Chen’s past, while Lapras reached the Divine Realm.

• After the King of Persia’s soul dissipated, Lu Chen warned that the real King might still be alive and revealed his ancient origins to Steven and the others, who agreed to keep them secret.
• Lu Chen returned to his farm, where he discovered Ditto disguised as fossil Pokémon, helped Cynthia with Garchomp’s training, and advised Reggie to improve his team’s coordination.
• Lu Chen tracked Blue after she stole his wallet, then fought alongside Cynthia against the Masked Man, who used a weakened, controlled Ho-Oh before escaping.
• Lu Chen brought Blue back to Pallet Town, gave Cynthia’s Garchomp an ancient medicine, and agreed to visit Cameran Palace after Aaron reported a world-changing power hidden there.
• At Cameran Palace, Queen Ilene connected Lu Chen to the ancient Chief Warrior, while Ash won the festival tournament and accidentally released a berserk Lucario from the queen’s scepter.
• Lucario accused Sir Aaron of sealing it away and abandoning it, while Mew took Pikachu and Lapras to the Tree of Beginning, where Lapras ate a Fruit of Life and became a Third-Tier God.
• Lu Chen, Ash, Aaron, and the others set out for the Tree of Beginning with Lucario, and a Time Flower showed Sir Aaron climbing the mountain before revealing Rin asking the young Lu Chen to help save her country.
