When Peter left X-Men, he was in a much better mood than when he went in. He and Qin·Grey stayed for a while, chatting, laughing and having fun, and the heart that had been pressed before leaving felt much relieved. Back home, Uncle Ben and Aunt May could tell at a glance that he was in much better spirits. They smiled at him, and he smiled back. Their father was rarely at home these days and had been busy helping S.H.I.E.L.D. track and locate Hydra's base.
The school has gone on Christmas vacation. Peter spends all his time in Baxter Building's own laboratory. Charles·Xavier is right, he doesn't necessarily have to continue to be Spider-Man, but... he can always do something useful, right?
A week passed quickly, and he spent most of his time working on a special project in the bombed-out laboratory. He seriously thought about the superhero training camp mentioned by Xavier several times, and felt that it was indeed a good idea. If this world was really like the main universe of Marvel, there would be a bunch of people with superpowers popping up in the future, and most of them would need a way to hide their identities.
So he decided to make something to specifically solve this problem.
That thing is called "Nexus Helmet". He referred to several emails from Tony·Stark, as well as some of the very high-level suggestions. The helmet can be folded into a tablet, which is convenient for everyone to carry. The appearance is similar to his previous Spider-Man mask, with smooth lines and It has good ventilation. The internal systems use the latest technology, from the heads-up display to the phone interface. The cost is not expensive like the fancy and scary display technology of Tony, but it is definitely not cheap, almost fifty thousand US dollars, not counting labor. So he only has this finished product. If he wants to use this to create an industry that distributes free equipment, he must first have funds.
Tony also made a small suggestion, a very small adjustment - he insisted on installing an AI in the helmet to assist the wearer. Peter refused, but Tony bypassed his security settings, hacked into the system, and forced an AI into it.
Needless to say, Peter was furious.
At the moment, he is alone in the laboratory, testing the helmet he made and the AI that Tony forced into it.
"Testing AI performance, Experiment No. 5." He finished speaking to the recording pen, put down the pen, and tapped his helmet, "Hey, can you hear me?"
"Yes, sir. How can I help you?" The voice was polite and soft.
Peter pouted. Female voice. Tony installed a female AI on him. Really good.
"Help me search the Internet for any reports of illegal activities taking place," he said.
"Of course, Mr. Parker." The AI replied, "Currently, three cases have been reported: a robbery, a carjacking near Fifth Avenue, and a man preparing to jump off a building a few buildings away. Do you need me to plan a route for you?"
Peter was stunned. The words "jump off a building" stuck into his mind like a needle. He sighed, "Uh... no, no need for now. Open the contacts on my mobile phone and send the address to Johnny·Stone's number."
"Sorry, sir, I can't find anyone with that name."
Peter groaned. "Oh yes, I sent it to 'Flame Poo', a work account, not a personal account."
"Sent. Do you have any other instructions, Mr. Parker?"
"No, thank you. Uh... By the way, haven't I given you a name yet?"
"Yes, sir, not yet."
"Well... how about calling you 'Sassy'?" He smiled evilly.
"Sassy, sir? Isn't this a bit obscene?"
Peter chuckled, "You are made by Tony·Stark. I suggest you get used to this style as soon as possible." He picked up the helmet and pressed a button near the left temple. The helmet immediately folded inward, and the internal hard plate moved quickly, turning into a thickened red tablet. He stuffed the tablet into his back pocket.
When they walked out of the laboratory and came to the lounge, Johnny and Susan were sitting on the sofa watching TV. "Johnny," he shouted loudly, "There is someone in the city who is going to jump off the building. I sent the location to your mobile phone."
Johnny's eyes suddenly opened wide. "Fuck! Okay, I'll go right away!" He jumped up from the sofa, took out his mobile phone to check the location, then turned over and jumped over the balcony railing, rising into the air with flames, and headed straight for the jumper.
"Where did you know?" Susan asked doubtfully.
Peter raised the red tablet. "Her preliminary test has been completed. So far, it's perfect."
"Have you installed the Parker's Blood system?" Susan asked after taking the tablet.
"Of course." Peter handed the tablet over. As soon as the tablet came into her hand, it immediately transformed into a helmet form. Susan put it on and looked around.
"Well, it's really well done, Peter, I'm a little impressed." Susan said, "Are there any interesting functions in it?"
"Yes, Sassy, show her all the crime maps that New York has reported so far." Peter ordered.
"What did you just call me?" Susan looked up in surprise.
"Right away, sir." Sassy responded.
"Wow!" Susan took off his helmet, his eyes widened, "Why... why is there AI?"
Peter sat down next to her and nodded. "Well, Tony must pretend."
"I understand... didn't you say you hate AI? Why do you let him pretend?" Susan asked.
"He bypassed my security settings and wrote the program into the main system. Unless I tear down the entire system and start over, I can't delete 'her' alone." Peter shrugged.
"You are so rude, you know that?" Sassy said angrily.
Susan laughed out loud, "At least she has a good temper." She threw the helmet back to Peter. Peter immediately folded it back into its flat form.
The two of them sat quietly, with the news still playing on the TV. The air slowly became stiff. The last time they were alone like this... well, something happened.
Peter cleared his throat. "So..."
Susan nodded. "Yeah, how are you doing lately? We haven't... uh, never found a chance to talk about that..."
"That kiss?" Peter laughed out loud.
Susan sneered, "Yes, that thing. Listen to me, Peter, I want to apologize to you. I shouldn't have done that."
Peter smiled, "It's okay, Susan, it's just a kiss." He shrugged, "Besides, we were both quite lonely at the time. Besides, kissing the boss may sound exciting, but it's really wrong."
"And you're still a minor."
"Oh, yes, I almost forgot." Peter swallowed, "I hope you won't get into trouble because of that."
"No... probably not." She shrugged.
"Then..." Peter turned to look at her, "Does this count as a chapter?"
"Yeah." She nodded. There was another awkward silence. Suddenly Susan turned to the TV: "Look, Johnny!"
Peter turned around. On the TV, Johnny was floating next to the man who was about to jump off the roof, saying something. They waited for five minutes, and the man finally agreed to come back. The crowd cheered, and Johnny helped him get down to the ground safely and put him into the ambulance.
"Good job, Flame Butt." Peter grinned.
"He is sometimes reliable." Susan also smiled proudly.
"Yes, he has matured a lot since he started dating Liz."
Susan nodded. "She is good to him."
As she spoke, Susan turned her head. Peter realized that she had not realized how close they were sitting just now. Gradually, a sweet aroma like maple syrup filled her body, her pupils were slightly dilated, and her eyes were a little distracted.
"Susan." Peter reached out and flicked her forehead, "No. Bad girl."
Susan rubbed his forehead, a little confused. "What are you talking about?"
"Don't think about me in your heart." Peter blinked.
"I-I didn't!" She blushed.
Peter shrugged. "Don't lie to me, Susan, I know I'm sexy as hell."
"Hey! I--"
"--Ah, Peter, I'm looking for you." Reed's voice suddenly sounded. Susan and Peter were startled at the same time. Reed blinked. "What's wrong? What happened?"
Peter smiled calmly, "It's nothing, it's just... today is really long. I made an AI helmet that can be sold to superheroes. It's a very ordinary day."
Reed squinted his eyes. "Okay." He glanced at Susan, without any further entanglement, and continued, "Anyway, it's just the right time for you to be here. I have something to show you."
Peter raised his eyebrows. "Oh, okay." He and Susan stood up and followed Reed into his laboratory.
The laboratory looks newly renovated. Doctor Doom has destroyed almost all the equipment in Reed. Although other places are still in chaos, there is a familiar portal in the center, buzzing and full of energy.
Peter stopped at the door. Susan took a breath of cold air. Peter suppressed his anger and roared, "Reed, you have ten seconds to explain why you made this thing again."
Reed's throat moved. "I-I just want you to see that it can really work. Peter, we finally cracked the inter-dimensional travel!"
"Are you fucking stupid?!" Peter yelled, the fear of death and the anger that almost killed Doctor Doom poured into his voice, "No, you can't be a fool, you are the smartest person in the world. You are too damn smart, so smart that you are stupid. What kind of idiot would build this thing again?!"
