A few minutes later, in the living room, Qin and Scott were sitting on the sofa watching TV, while Logan and Ororo were playing chess in the corner. Logan's ears twitched and he looked up and saw Peter sneaking in with a few people.
Peter raised his index finger and blinked. Logan grinned and said nothing.
Scott was staring at the TV and muttering, "Another animal documentary..."
Peter walked over generously and squeezed in between him and Qin: "What are you looking at?"
"Felines." Scott tuned the channel angrily, "Why are all the channels now filled with cats?"
"What a coincidence, I hate cats."
Qin smiled and took Peter's hand and asked with her mind, "Are you okay?"
"I'm fine. I just remembered that she was gone. I don't like cats very much."
"Peter, can you stop shouting your dirty thoughts so loudly?" Qin's voice came back with a smile, "Don't forget that the professor can read it."
"Ahem." Peter was about to retort when Rogue quietly walked around behind the sofa, took off his gloves, rolled up his sleeves, hugged Scott's neck from behind, and pressed his whole chest against his back.
"What are you doing--Rogue?!" Scott jumped up from the sofa and touched his face and arms frantically, "Are you crazy? I, I'm okay?"
"Wow hahaha!" Peter covered his stomach and almost rolled off the sofa with laughter, "It's so worth it!"
"I recorded the whole process!" Kurt was hanging upside down from the ceiling, holding up Peter's mobile phone and shaking it proudly.
Qin stood up, looked at Scott, then looked at the shimmering pink hair rings on Rogue's hands, slowly turned around and stared at Peter: "Did you do this?"
"Maybe I did do something." Peter grinned.
"I can touch people again!" Rogue said with the circles under his eyes red again, "I can touch people again!"
Logan and Ororo walked over and hugged her from left to right. Rogue leaned on Logan's shoulder, tears falling down.
"It's not completely normal." Peter added next to it, "After all, normal people don't look as white as vampires. --Are you not a vampire?"
Rogue was so amused that he laughed and hit him with his elbow while wiping his tears.
When Xavier came in with his wheelchair, what he saw was a room full of people surrounding a crying and laughing Rogue. "What happened?"
"Professor! Peter cured her!" Kitty rushed to say, "No, he helped her control her abilities!"
Xavier was stunned for a moment and looked at Peter.
Rogue raised his wrist and showed him the hair ties. "He made something, and now I can touch whoever I want!"
"Celebrate!" Kurt jumped down from the ceiling, "Party all night long!"
Evan happened to walk in from the door and saw a room full of cheering people. He blinked blankly. "What did I miss again?"
That night, a sumptuous dinner was set up in the restaurant. Rogue became the most active person in the room, hugging whomever she caught. She opened her arms and pounced on Kurt, almost suffocating the blue-haired boy. "I will never let go!"
"If you don't let go, I won't be able to breathe..." Kurt's voice became weaker and weaker.
Qin laughed at the side, "His face turned blue - even though it was blue to begin with."
Logan walked in with a pan of fried bacon. "Who wants it?"
"Did you make it?" Rogue took a piece in surprise, "Can you cook?"
"Fried, with maple syrup." Logan put the bacon on everyone's plate.
"Who are you, Canada?" Rogue asked suspiciously.
Logan grinned. "No."
Amid the laughter at the table, Peter stood by the window holding a glass of juice. Through the floor-to-ceiling windows, he could see the lively crowd indoors. Kurt went to tease Logan again, but was frightened by the steel claws and screamed; Kitty chased Kurt all over the house; Rogue pulled Scott and danced an awkward dance. Probably for a long, long time, these people will never have such a relaxing night again.
"Thank you for what you did for Rogue." Xavier slid over from the other side of the corridor, holding a glass of celebratory champagne in his hand.
"Easy to do." Peter took a sip of juice, "Her ability should be a double-edged sword, so she won't end up being a walking curse all her life."
"Have you ever thought about it, Peter?" Xavier looked at the laughing young Mutantss in the room, "Maybe this is your direction."
"What do you mean?"
"Anything that is broken, given enough time, can be repaired. You are here to find the meaning of life, right?" Xavier smiled, "There are many people in the world who are dealt a bad hand like her. Maybe you can help them - not necessarily as Spider-Man."
Peter was silent for a while. "Do you think this is... a superhero training camp?"
Xavier smiled, "If you like to say that."
Peter also laughed. He glanced inside the room and saw that Rogue was smearing cream on Scott's face, making a fuss. Maybe Xavier was right.
A few hours later, the banquet was over. Peter returned to the guest room and just as he sat down, there was a knock on the door.
"Come in," he called.
The door opened and Qin walked in with a gentle smile on her face, "So... we haven't had a chance to talk about how you've been doing lately."
"Which part? The part about quitting the hero career, or the part about being dumped by your girlfriend?"
"Forget it. You still love her." Qin was not a question.
"Well, you can't say that you don't love me if you don't love me." Peter lowered his head, "Do you still remember what you said that day?"
Qin smiled, "You mean the day I slept with you and Felicia at the same time for the first time?" She smiled softly, "Of course I remember. What do you want to say?"
"You said she loved me and that she would never leave me. Do you think... she still--"
"Yes." Qin nodded, "She loved you. I believe she still loves you now. But if I guess correctly, she is probably ashamed of what she has done."
"Then what should I do?"
"I think you should cheer up." Qin said bluntly, "You've been depressed for too long. She won't like to see you like this, and I don't like it either."
"But she's gone."
"What about me?" Qin reached out and held his hand, tightening it gently, "I can't bear to see the person I love turn into an empty shell. Peter, unless you allow yourself to be defeated, no one will let you lose."
She stared into Peter's eyes. At that moment, the pain and loneliness that had been accumulated for months suddenly cracked. The comfort he could not find in New York reappeared in this girl. She came close to him and kissed him.
The kiss went out of control. Qin's fingers unbuttoned his buttons while using her mind to brush off her clothes. The two fell between the sheets and quilts, Peter bit her neck, while Qin breathed softly in his ear. The shadows entrenched in his heart receded little by little in the night of overlapping body temperatures.
The next morning, the sun fell on the pillow. Qin was still lying in his arms, close to his chest. Peter subconsciously hugged her tightly, as if he was afraid that she would disappear in the next second.
Qin moved, gently wrapped her arms around him, and put her ear against his heartbeat. "Don't worry. I won't go anywhere today... You can stay with me, you don't have to be afraid of anything."
Peter smiled, lowered his head, and kissed the top of her hair. This sleep was the most peaceful sleep he had ever had since Felicia left.
