"What? Who?" In Peter's eyes, her acting skills were terrible.
"Felicia." He pushed open the door, pushed her aside, and scanned the room - she was not here.
"She's not here!" Valeria protested, "You can't just break into someone else's house! I can sue you for trespassing!"
"You're lying, I know it."
"How could you tell?" She looked incredulous.
"You remember my name." He snorted, "And you smiled at me."
She looked embarrassed, but quickly hid her expression. "I don't know where my daughter is, Peter. But when I find out--"
"Mom." A voice sounded. Peter turned her head. Felicia was coming in from the outside, and her father was standing protectively behind her. She looked at him with an expression that was about to break, "It's okay."
Valeria sighed and closed the door. Felicia shrank in front of him. He rushed over. "Peter, I'm sorry. I really can't wait any longer."
He took off his hat and stared at her. She looked guilty.
Then he looked up at her father and glared hard. "Your daughter is now a criminal."
Walter tensed up: "S.H.I.E.L.D. won't--"
"Fury is looking for her right now." He chewed out each word, "If I can figure out that she is here, so can he. You still have half an hour, maybe less. They will find you. What are you going to do, Walter?"
"He's not going anywhere!" Valeria shouted. She stood next to her husband and held his hand. "He's not going to be locked up again. Never again!"
"Then how are you going to do it?" Peter asked her, "And it's not just him - Felicia is in trouble too."
"We know." Walter took a step forward. Peter looked behind him and saw the packed luggage.
Walter said, "So let's leave now."
"What?" Peter turned to look at Felicia, "Where are you going?"
"It doesn't matter." She shrugged, "Anywhere."
"You want to live the life of a criminal? Run away for the rest of your life?!"
"I am a criminal!" Felicia yelled, "You knew it from the first day! You knew who I was from the beginning. Stop pretending to be surprised now."
"What about your life in New York, Felicia?!" he asked, "What about Liz? Where's MJ? And me?... and us?"
"Peter... I'm sorry. But he is my father. I will not let them send him away again." Her voice was hurt. She really was. She looked at him. He saw tears welling up in her eyes. He couldn't understand and couldn't move.
She said softly, "I'm sorry."
"We have to go." Walter grabbed several large duffel bags and handed one to Valeria. "If he can get here, they won't be too far away."
"Felicia, let's go." Valeria dragged her daughter's arm out.
"Peter." Felicia called. He looked up and saw tears falling from her face. "I'm sorry."
He didn't say a word and just watched them go.
He couldn't say it. If she stayed, they would arrest her and put her in a cell like the one they put Walter in. He... he couldn't let her go. Never.
"Wait!" he shouted and rushed out. They had already gone downstairs. Peter chased them out the door. Felicia turned around, with confusion on his face. "I'll go with you."
"What?" She couldn't believe it at all.
"I'll go with you." He said to her, "Call MJ and ask her to bring my car. We can drive away. S.H.I.E.L.D. can't track us."
"Peter, you can't--"
"I can."
"Peter--"
"There's no time." Walter said to her. He looked at Peter, "I'm sorry, kid. You can't come with us."
"There's nothing I can't let go of."
"You still have family, Peter. Your aunt, your uncle." Felicia cried, "And your dad is finally home."
"Peter." Felicia smiled. She ran to him. He hugged her tightly. "Thank you. But you have to go back."
"I want to stay with you forever, Xiaomao." He whispered in her ear.
However, Spider-Sense suddenly exploded. He immediately bounced away from her, a hand flew over, and pressed an electric shock device into his abdomen. He could feel the electric current passing through his entire body.
He fell to the ground, his body as stiff as a board.
She stood above him. She had silver hair and green eyes. She was beautiful, still so beautiful. She smiled sadly, "I can't let you do this, Peter. I'm sorry. I love you."
"Why--why?" He managed to squeeze out these few words.
"Because, although I need Peter·Parker... but this city needs Spider-Man." He saw that her face was collapsing. She was completely broken. He wanted to raise his hand to wipe away the tears on her face, but her electric shock device hit him again.
"Idiot." He muttered.
She is really an idiot. He has no one else but her. He feels that his body is slowly healing itself. He can feel the nerves being repaired one by one. Well, this is a completely new feeling.
He moved his arms, fingers, and then his whole body. When he looked up, her taxi was turning the corner and had completely disappeared.
"No." He told himself. He tried to stand up, but fell to the ground and hit his face. He pushed himself up again. "No."
He wanted to leave, but he fell down weakly. He raised his head. She was not there.
His Xiaomao... his cat. Why don't you understand? I would give up anything for you.
The taxi dropped them off at the airport. They managed to sneak onto a private runway. By nightfall, the plane was ready to go.
Felicia and her father stood together again. The cold night wind picked up her hair and blew it onto her face. Even the wind was unwilling to see her tears fall.
"Xiaomao..." Walter said. He felt heartbroken, but was unable to make his daughter's pain disappear.
"Don't." She said softly, "Stop talking... that man... he is really helpless."
Walter sighed, "If this makes you feel better, he is indeed a tough guy. It's hard to believe that the guy who took down Hydra Base by himself is just a child."
"He's more than that, dad, he's amazing." Felicia said softly.
"Are you reconsidering this plan?" A new voice sounded. The two cats turned around and saw Fury walking out of the shadows. His one eye looked at the younger one. "You can stop now if you want. I can make it look like you changed your mind and draw the fire away from you. You don't have to--"
"No." Felicia's voice was cold, "I never want to see Peter suffer that kind of injury again... Never. I... He, is he okay?"
Fury sighed, "He searched every frame of Kennedy Airport's camera like crazy to find you, but I think he can't find you."
"That kid..." Walter shook his head, "How could he slip out of your hands? Shouldn't you be holding him back?"
Fury shrugged. "We trained him very well...Black Widow is very proud of this. In five minutes, he has us chasing him around."
Felicia snorted, "He also said he would be a bad spy."
Silence fell. After a moment Fury broke it again. "Your wife is with you? This was not part of the plan."
"I will never be separated from my family again. Never." Walter shot back.
"What do you do with the civilians on the way to escape? She will slow you down."
Walter shrugged. "We can do it. Did you bring the things?"
Fury took out a piece of paper and held it up. It had his mark on it, as well as the mark of President United States. "Walter·Hardy's complete immunity. The condition is that he can provide enough evidence to cause Hydra to be arrested or completely destroyed."
Walter showed a smile. He took the piece of paper and put it away carefully. "How long will this mission last, Fury?"
"As long as it takes." Felicia answered. The two men turned to her. She glared back at them. "Until I am sure that Hydra will never touch Peter again... until that day comes, I will keep doing it."
"It might take several years." Fury argued.
"He will wait for me... I know. He may hate me for a while. Maybe he will try to start a new life, but I guess he can't do it, just like I can't do it either." Felicia said with a sad smile.
"Want me to bring him a message for you?" Fury suggested an option.
Felicia shook his head. "No, that is too suspicious. If Hydra is watching him and me, they have to make sure that I am really on the run and no longer his companion. I think I have deceived Qin, and I have no doubt that she hates me now, but... what should I say to him in the future? How should I explain all this to him?"
Fury curled his lips. "That's something we have to worry about next time. Now--" He took out a file and handed it to Old Hardy. "This is the first mission. Good luck. Old cat, Black Cat."
Without further words, the father and daughter got into their private jet, left, and flew east to Europe.
Fury looked at the lights on the tail of the plane and sighed.
"I'm sorry, kid. Forgive me."
