"I managed to get to you in time, and with the help of Banner, we stabilized your condition. It took a while, but you woke up and wrote that note a few days later. After that, when Su's body recovered, he immediately started preparing the gas you used, and that's what happened now."
"This has caused quite a stir, boy," Logan took over, "Doom is the ruler of Latveria. That country regards Doom's experience of living in another world as some kind of imprisonment. Now they are furious, not to mention that Avengers and the entire Western world are furious because you were injured."
"Injured?!" Jean shouted, "That bastard almost killed him!"
Logan shrugged. "Anyway, the current situation is very difficult. Fury is very busy trying to prevent World War III. The situation is not optimistic, boy."
Peter nodded and began to look around, looking at the notes and bouquets. He couldn't read them before, but now he could see them clearly. He found the wishes of many people: Captain, Tony, Bruce, Clint, Natasha, Su, Reed, Johnny, Ben, Qin, Scott, Logan, Ororo, Xavier, damn, even Fury wrote to him! But one person is not here.
"Where is Felicia?" He looked at them and asked, "Where is she?"
Qin immediately showed an angry expression. "She..." She looked at him, her anger dissipated and she put on a smile, "She went home. She stayed with you for a whole week. I forced her to go home and take a rest."
"Oh," Peter blinked, "Okay." Something was wrong. He looked worried, but Qin refused to look at him. Richard looked at her and sighed.
"Peter, you'd better take a rest first," he said to him with a smile, "Go ahead."
"I feel good, Dad, really, I--"
"Please, Peter," Qin said, "Rest for a while."
He looked at her and sighed, "Okay. But... can you call Felicia or send a text message? Let her know that I'm fine."
Qin's face showed pain, but she still nodded. She agreed and walked out with Logan and her father. As soon as the door closed, Peter jumped out of bed and put her ear against the door frame.
"Where is she?" He heard Qin gnashing her teeth, "She should be here."
"She said she couldn't stand seeing him like this," Dad sighed, "Poor girl."
"Poor ass!" Qin growled, "I know exactly what's going on in her mind! She's going to use the fact that Peter almost died to save her father! I can't believe she would do such a thing!"
Peter's eyes widened, 'No, she wouldn't do that!'
"Where is she now?" Logan asked.
"Texas somewhere," Qin snorted angrily, "I only found so much."
"I remember I told you not to read other people's thoughts, Qin." Logan said in a warning tone.
"Sorry, but it doesn't work. When Peter was in a coma, do you know what I did? I tried to use my powers to pull him out of the coma, but I couldn't. So I looked back on his memory, and do you know what his last thought was? 'Please keep her safe.' He thought he was going to die, but all he could think about was her, and she couldn't even see him while he was in the hospital?!"
Peter didn't listen anymore, he really couldn't listen anymore. Why? Why wasn't she there? He could understand that she didn't want to waste any time, but when What If...? was here, he would - no, that was a lie. If he were in her position, he would definitely not stay here. He would bring a can opener and a gun to kick down Doom's door.
Texas... her father. She wanted to save him! Logan mentioned that S.H.I.E.L.D. was busy trying to prevent a world war, and this was indeed the perfect opportunity to take action against Walter without anyone stopping him. It's a bit sad that she didn't choose to accompany him, but then again, the way she seized this opportunity was quite brilliant.
He has to go find her before she does something stupid. Texas, take a plane? No, as soon as he leaves, Fury will guess his destination immediately. Well, maybe he can just drive, where he parked the car last... Damn, he can't remember. No, wait, he gave the car to MJ, she is going to drive it to her acting class, and then go straight home!
He looked around. There was no cell phone, and neither his clothes nor personal belongings were there. This was Tony's territory, and the things must be in his laboratory or warehouse. He had to get it. He leaned toward the door and couldn't hear anyone outside. He opened the door and walked out quietly.
After looking around, there were not many people, which was good. He walked towards the elevator sign, pressed the call button, stepped in quickly, and pressed the button marked "Lab".
The door opened and he walked out quickly. Fortunately, he wasn't wearing a hospital gown with an opening in the back. No, he was just a pair of decent pants and a loose shirt. He walked along the corridor, avoiding people as much as possible. People usually didn't look up.
He passed by a laboratory with glass windows, stopped, and saw his suit spread out on the table. He smiled, 'I won the jackpot!' He walked to the door and found it was locked, requiring fingerprints to enter. Fuck!
He stared at the scanner, maybe he could get some dust to extract fingerprints and paste them on?
"I'll do it." Peter looked up and saw Bruce standing there with a smile. He was stunned and took a step back. Bruce opened the door with his fingerprint and stepped aside, "Please come in."
Peter blinked. "Uh... Hi..."
Bruce smiled, "I know your true identity, Peter. Or should I say, Spider-Man?"
Peter blinked again. "Uh... so... you... can you keep a secret?"
Bruce chuckled, "Yes, believe me, I'm very good at keeping secrets."
Peter looked at him and grinned. "Thanks." He walked in and looked at his suit. He had never realized how completely it was destroyed before. The mechanical arm backpack on the back was gone. The helmet was broken into several pieces, and the arm armor was also broken.
The armor on the torso was still intact, as was the armor on the legs, even though it was soaked with his blood. He sighed, "It will take a lot of work to repair it."
"I'm surprised that you survived," Bruce walked up behind him and said, "You lost so much blood...Peter, it's a miracle that Tony arrived in time."
"I know."
"The system of this suit is finished," he tapped the hexagonal Arc Reactor, "Tony has seen it, and he is a little jealous of the thing you upgraded. But he also announced that it is useless. In his words, it's like a condom with holes."
Peter snorted, "I guessed it." He picked up the gauntlet to check, opened it, and took out the mobile phone issued by S.H.I.E.L.D.. The screen was broken. "Oh, I can't count on this."
"You want to make a call?" Bruce reached into his pocket and took out his own cell phone, "Here."
"Oh, thank you." Peter took the phone.
"Who to call?" he asked.
"My girlfriend."
Bruce shuddered. "Felicia, right?"
"Yes... you know her?"
The man swallowed. "Yes, we have met. She... said a lot. She is quite a scary woman."
Peter grinned. "Of course." He put the phone to his ear, but the call was not connected and the number was turned off. "Fuck!"
"What's wrong?"
"She's turned it off, which means either her phone is out of battery, which is unlikely, or she's doing something really, really stupid."
"What would make Fury angry?" Bruce asked.
"Yes, it's possible. What's wrong?"
"Because he looks quite angry right now," Bruce looked behind him. Peter turned around, and sure enough, Fury was walking towards them with a fierce look on his face, and an ominous premonition gripped him.
"Don't treat me like a fool, Spider!" Fury spat, "Your girlfriend! Black Cat! She just kidnapped her father, the most powerful thief in the world, from prison!"
Peter blinked. "I have to say that I really didn't know she did this." This is the truth, he didn't expect that she had done it. Damn.
"Really? Are you going to tell me that you have no idea that she wants to kidnap her father out of prison?" Fury asked.
"No, no," Peter replied, "I told you yesterday... I mean a week ago, it's been a week," he sighed, "Anyway, I told you a week ago that I suspected someone from Hydra contacted Felicia and offered to help her save her father. So I did tell you. Then you also tell me, Fury, what happened?"
Fury met Peter's gaze and looked at him for a long time. He growled, "She broke in two nights ago. We didn't receive the notice of Walter's escape until last night. She disappeared. Spider, do you know where she will be?"
"No, I don't know." Peter said.
Fury looked at him silently, and after a while said, "Okay, but if you happen to find her, let us know immediately. She is in big trouble."
He looked at Banner, and then at the pile of tattered battle clothes on the table. Fury sighed, "I'm sorry for not catching that bastard."
Peter nodded. "I know. What is the current situation?"
"Danger, very dangerous," Fury growled, and he glared at Peter, "Enough to constitute a reason for war. To be honest, kid, I don't know which direction it will develop."
"Have you summoned Avengers?" Peter asked.
"Avengers are weapons used by humans to combat superconventional threats. They are not peacekeeping forces, nor are they a means of attack for United States. They cannot be considered to deal with foreign powers."
"But that doesn't mean we won't try." Another voice sounded, Tony walked into the laboratory, Steve followed behind. When he saw Peter, he smiled, "Hi, kid, I'm glad you're okay. You look much better."
"Thank you very much," Peter smiled back, "Thanks, Tony."
"Oh, don't do this with me. I'm late." He patted Peter on the shoulder.
"So what's going on over there Doom?" Bruce asked, "Can we catch him soon?"
"No," Steve said, "It's too complicated. The only way to have a chance is for him to take the initiative to deliver it to your door."
"This is almost impossible." Tony leaned over to inspect the suit, "Do you need help making a new one?"
"No, uh... yes," Peter rubbed his forehead and sighed, "But I can't muster the energy right now. Things like almost dying... always leave a little shadow on people." He didn't want to admit it, but there was a trace of doubt rolling in his heart. He was afraid, afraid that the next time he put on that suit and bleeds to death, there would be no one around to save him.
"There's no shame in taking a break, Peter," Steve patted him on the shoulder, "Even the best of us need a rest sometimes."
The others didn't say anything more, but only cast encouraging glances. Peter nodded to them, stepped back a few steps, and allowed them to continue the discussion.
"I have put S.H.I.E.L.D. under full surveillance," Fury said, "As long as Doom has the slightest thought of leaving his country, we can catch him."
"He won't leave his country," Tony said, "Why would he leave? There he is safe, the people love him, and everything is fine. No, he won't come out, but that doesn't mean he will sit there wasting time and preparing nothing. He is very smart, extremely smart. I guess he will start to prepare for war, and when he is sure that he can beat us, he will come back for the second round."
"We need to formulate an attack plan in case he does this." Steve nodded, "Tony, do you think we can handle the drones he used?"
Tony rubbed his eyes. It could be seen that his eyelids were heavy and he had not slept much. "I can try. But I'm not sure. I have never trusted drones controlled by artificial intelligence."
'Thank you for your vote of confidence, sir.' JARVIS's voice came from the communicator.
"Oh, shut up." Tony smiled evilly.
"We'll catch him, Peter," Steve said to Peter, "I promise."
Peter sighed, "Thanks... Oh, by the way, you should know that he has gained some new ability."
"What? What kind?" Fury asked.
"He can manipulate pure energy," Peter told him. "That energy pours out of him like water from a faucet, and he can use it to create things, like shields or energy blasts. That thing... is different." He wanted to say "Magic", but none of them believed Magic, and he didn't want to become a laughing stock.
"Okay, I'll add this to the file." Fury sighed, looking very frustrated.
"Peter, maybe you should go back to bed," Bruce said, "You need to rest."
"I'm fine, Dr. Banner," Peter shrugged, "Logan's blood is very effective, I don't--"
"--In any case, you'd better lie down for a while." Steve insisted.
"Listen to the adults, kid," Tony patted his shoulder with a wicked smile, "Trust us and leave it to us."
Peter looked at them, he could see it, pity. They felt sorry for him. He felt sorry for himself. They had never seen him as a child before, only as Spider-Man, and he guessed that seeing him like this now... made them realize that behind the mask was a sixteen-year-old boy, not an adult. He hated this feeling.
He said nothing and turned away. As he left the laboratory, he turned around and saw that they were talking again. He had to hear what they were saying, and suddenly his eyes began to vibrate. He felt like they were being stretched outward, like an eardrum being pulled inward. After a piercing scream, he could hear their conversation.
"--He's not ready yet, Tony! You saw what Doom did to him! Do you think anyone can withstand that kind of blow?!" Steve shouted.
"Yes, because he has to bear it." Tony insisted.
"He's just a child, Stark." Fury interjected.
"A kid who realized a year ago that 'if you don't do good, you're letting the bad guys in the world go unpunished,'" Tony shot back, "What were you doing when you were fifteen, Fury? Huh? Which training camp were you in? What about you, captain? Me You know what I was doing, I was building toys in my dad's garage and trying to chase the hottest girl in school. But what about Peter? He was fighting an alien invasion. He was out there saving lives, he was better than all of us, and he might be greater than all of us in the future."
"He's still a child, Tony." Steve replied silently, "He doesn't have to bear this burden. It's not fair. We should have protected him, but look what happened. He shouldn't do Spider-Man anymore, and we can't acquiesce."
"What should we do? Are you going to throw him into the forest?" Tony asked, "Come on, Fury."
"I talked to his father," Fury said softly, "The man doesn't want his son to continue to be like this."
"Because he's such a great father--"
"That's enough, Tony!" Steve interrupted, "He may not have been with Peter before, but now he is. He has the right to participate in his life."
"And strictly speaking, since Peter is still a minor, his father is still his guardian," Fury confirmed, "He asked me to stop training Peter."
"Are you thinking about it?" Tony's voice was as sharp as an arrow.
"Maybe."
"Fury, that kid was already out and about in a red sweatshirt and leggings before any of us saw him. Do you really think you can make him change his mind without giving him 'permission'?! The first day he walks out of here, he will put on the suit again and deal with bad guys! Mark my words. He is not the kind of person you can order, Fury, you know that. If you don't give him training, it will get him into more trouble!"
"He's right," Bruce spoke for the first time, "Peter is a strong kid, and he won't let anyone boss him around. You know, Fury. Don't push him away, Peter... he can't accept it."
Peter looked at them. The four men looked at each other with firm eyes, not knowing what to say. He turned his attention away from them, and his ears instantly began to tighten and recover.
He wrinkled his face at this weird feeling. It was like... a new ability? Didn't Logan have some kind of enhanced senses? That smell, he had smelled it before Qin and Logan came in, and this hearing. Well, he needed to study this, but not now. Now he had to go find that fool and make sure she was safe.
"Hey, JARVIS." Peter greeted as he walked into the elevator.
"Yes, sir." the artificial intelligence replied.
"Which floor is the living area on?"
"Upstairs, sir," it told him, "May I ask why?"
"Nothing." He pressed the button for the upper floor. The elevator door opened and he walked out quickly. Looking around, JARVIS would undoubtedly report his actions to Tony, so he had to be quick. There was a locked door at the end of the corridor with the name plate of Bruce hanging on it.
He pressed his hand on the doorknob, and it was indeed locked. It was probably a latch. He concentrated his mind and knew that blue light flashed in his eyes, and he activated the metal control. He raised the corner of his mouth, the name was still so cool.
He used his ability to unlock the door and walked in. The room was very tidy, with a pile of books and notes piled in the corner, but overall it was quite clean. He walked into the closet and opened the door. There were many combinations of jackets, casual pants and purple shirts. This guy really likes purple.
He grabbed a pair of cheap-looking jeans, which were probably ordered in bulk by Bruce. He also grabbed a green T-shirt with Hulk's face printed on it. Judging from the taste, it was probably a gift from Tony.
Putting on the new clothes, he walked out. He took a hat and a spare pair of reading glasses from the Bruce table. The disguise was complete.
He couldn't use the elevator, so he turned to the fire escape. Pushing the door open and looking down, I was afraid it was hundreds of stories high. No matter, he took the express lane.
He jumped onto the railing, jumped down, and landed in a crouch. He jumped two floors at a time, and repeated the process. The speed was amazing, and he reached the bottom of the building in a few minutes, and slipped out quietly.
There were security guards everywhere outside, and he immediately recognized the cameras. With Black Widow's training, he was able to avoid them without being noticed. The moment he walked out of the glass door, he vaguely heard a faint siren coming from behind. It seemed that they had discovered that he had escaped.
He quickened his pace, but not fast enough to attract attention. Looking around, no one noticed a young man wearing a shirt and jeans walking out of Avengers Tower.
He put on his hat and glasses, and took off the lenses to avoid affecting his vision. He needed cash. A man who looked very rich was coming this way, good coat, briefcase. Won the lottery.
He bumped his shoulder towards the man. "I'm sorry, I'm so sorry, sir," he apologized quickly, touching the man's side and shoulder, "Are you okay?"
"It's okay, it's okay, I'm fine," a dry voice sounded, and the man pushed his hand away, "Keep an eye on yourself as you walk."
"Okay, sorry." He responded with a smile and continued to move forward. He felt that the man's wallet was in his hand.
He turned into an alley, opened it and checked. It was about three hundred dollars in cash, not bad. He put the money away and threw the wallet out. The man still needed to find it.
The spy training came into play. All the time he spent with Natasha and David was not just a beating, but also learning. He used these trainings to create the illusion that he was going to Baxter Building and laid several false clues in that area. In fact, he took the first bus to Queens.
It took him an hour to get close to Felicia's residence. He bought another set of clothes in a store, a black shirt, jeans, a jacket and another hat. He gave the old clothes to a homeless man and paid him fifty yuan to wear them around the block three times. He had laid so many false clues about his whereabouts that it would be difficult for even Fury to find him quickly.
He walked forward and rang the doorbell, then took a few steps back and waited. The door opened, and Valerie opened the door. She blinked in surprise when she saw him. "Peter? Are you not in the hospital?" She smiled.
"Where is she?" Peter asked.
