That was right. The man in the red bodysuit was none other than that legal eagle, Daredevil.
A superhero from the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
The moment Li Ang saw him, he guessed why he had come.
It had to be because he had disappeared after making an appointment, and Matthew knew better than anyone what a person going missing in Hell's Kitchen meant.
He had come looking. Unfortunately, if Li Ang had not arrived, all he would have found was a corpse, and one emptied of its organs at that.
Li Ang glanced at Green Hair and casually hurled him away.
Green Hair did not even have time to cry out before he slammed into the wall, flattened into two dimensions by a dimensional reduction strike.
"System, what was that first mission you mentioned?"
Text appeared before his eyes again.
[Mission one: A nobody or a household name?] [Rescue the kidnapped Tony Stark, who has become Handy Geng, and announce your arrival to the world: have 10,000 people know of your existence.] [Mission reward: A 100% copy of Homelander's abilities, and unlock the upgrade module. Presence can then be used to upgrade attributes and enhance skills.]
"A nobody or a household name?" Li Ang repeated quietly, recalling his previous life.
His loved ones had passed away one after another. Lonely and helpless since childhood, he had been left alone in an unfamiliar city, working like a beast of burden for his boss.
What was there to hesitate about?
Li Ang narrowed his eyes. Since this was about Presence, he felt it was very necessary to say hello to their distinguished lawyer.
At that thought, Li Ang raised his head and shot into the sky!
The concrete ceilings could not stop him at all. He smashed through them floor by floor as though crashing through foam, until cool night air filled his lungs and he got his first clear look at the sky of the Marvel Universe!
In the distance lay New York, shrouded in night.
Its brilliant lights pulsed like a heart beneath the moonlight.
Flying and looking down from above gave him the feeling of having everything under his control!
"Shit! What just flew up into the sky?"
Several gangsters looked up and saw only a figure floating in midair with the moon at his back.
He wore no clothes, just a pair of boxer shorts.
"It's a superhuman!" Their bearded leader reacted quickly, figuring this was another superhuman playing the hero. "These spandex freaks! Shoot!"
"Boss, he's not wearing clothes."
"Shut up and shoot!"
He had been thwarted by people like this plenty of times before in Hell's Kitchen.
Some of them only knocked people unconscious, but there were also lunatics who killed everyone outright.
He had heard of a man whose symbol was a skull, who had wiped out an entire gang.
He had encountered them himself, too, but after being arrested, the forces backing him had pulled strings to get him released.
At the bearded man's words, the gangsters raised their guns. A moment later, flames spat from their muzzles, and bullets flew toward the figure!
Li Ang did not dodge. He also wanted to see how powerful 70% of Homelander's abilities were.
Bullets powerful enough to punch straight through a person struck his skin, but to Li Ang, they felt like nothing more than a puff of air.
This is my body now? Li Ang was filled with excitement.
The people below were nowhere near as happy.
"Fuck!" The bearded man's eyes went wide. They did nothing?
The ones he had met before, like that guy in red with a cane, had not been this ridiculous. Even Bullseye, the top assassin working under his boss, had to dodge bullets.
If the bullets falling to the ground had not been flattened into metal discs, he would have wondered whether he had bought fake ammunition!
Before he could react, the eyes of the figure in midair lit up, brighter than the moon in the sky.
Sizzle!
Two laser beams shot straight toward them. Wherever they swept, sheet metal and earth alike were brutally sliced apart!
The lackey beside the bearded man had no time to dodge and was instantly cut in half by the lasers!
When the lasers swept across the jeep beside them, the steel melted, followed by an explosion.
Seeing this, the gang members who had just run out nearby dropped their guns and fled. A few hundred bucks apiece-why risk their lives?
The bearded man was blasted away. The instant he hit the ground, the figure in the sky rapidly grew larger before his eyes!
"Oh God!" That was all he managed to say before closing his eyes.
Boom!
Li Ang plunged into the ground like a cannonball. The earth shook with his landing, but the expected spray of blood and flesh never came. He looked up toward a car not far away.
The man stood atop the car, wearing the standard red bodysuit, a horned mask, and a butt chin.
Slumped beside the car was the bearded man, who had been hooked away with a white cane.
"Stop. You've already demonstrated your strength. Now you should find another way to solve this."
Li Ang stood up and stared at Daredevil, reputed to be Marvel's king of getting laid.
He admired Daredevil, admired his heroic heart and willingness to risk himself to save others, but he did not agree with his ideals.
"This is the simplest way."
Those who killed had to be prepared to be killed. A life for a life and repayment of debts were only natural.
Hearing this, Daredevil frowned beneath his mask. Li Ang sounded less like someone who had just killed more than a dozen people and more like someone making casual conversation after dinner.
"Simple doesn't necessarily mean right. Hell's Kitchen needs justice, not another tyrant."
Daredevil knew the man before him was no nice guy. Amid the sound of the lasers earlier, he had clearly heard those people's screams and wails before they died.
There was also Li Ang's powerful heartbeat, like an engine. It was hard to imagine what terrifying strength lay hidden within that body.
Since when had Hell's Kitchen had someone this powerful?
Nothing Daredevil said made Li Ang feel there was anything wrong with what he had done.
With a teasing expression, he smiled and said, "That's why, my friend, you're the real hero."
At that, Daredevil's ears twitched slightly. He heard police sirens in the distance, but the prospect of the police arriving only worried him.
Li Ang heard them too. He narrowed his eyes slightly as he looked at the bearded man.
Text appeared before his eyes.
[Gained Daredevil's hostility: +700 Presence]
Looking at the text, he was confident that his first meeting with Daredevil had certainly left a deep impression.
He should also have this bearded man give Kingpin a heads-up.
After all, Kingpin was famously rich. Now that Li Ang had come to this world, he needed money, and lots of it.
But before transmigrating, he had worked himself to the bone doing overtime just to scrape by. If he still had to earn money through honest hard work after transmigrating, then what the hell had he transmigrated for?
Got a hundred? Send me ninety-five. You know what I can do. Don't touch the other five, either. I'll need that tomorrow!
How could earning money ever be as fast as stealing it?
"Tell your boss I'll be coming to see him." Li Ang smiled faintly, then vanished in a blur.
Only after he left, all the corpses had changed positions.
High in the sky, Li Ang reveled in the thrill of flight as he flew toward New York. Right now, he needed to get something to eat.
As he flew, he also held quite a few wallets. He gathered all the cash together and casually tossed away the rest.
After returning to New York, Li Ang found a clothing store that had not yet closed.
Li Ang respected people who earned money through their labor. He picked up a change of clothes, then had some fast food.
Once he had eaten and drunk his fill, he went to the top of a tall building and began figuring out the fastest way to gain Presence.
The system had one explanatory note.
[The more important a person is in this world, the more Presence can be gained from them.]
In his previous life, Homelander had Vought International backing him, using blanket publicity to turn ordinary people into his fans. That was Li Ang's short-term plan, too.
Even a mosquito was still meat, however small. He had to grab both the big and the small!
As for gaining more, that would depend on how the plot progressed. He would have to get involved in every story.
Not to mention the future Battle of New York and Infinity War. Those would definitely be the best opportunities, but before then, he had to become strong enough.
Strong enough to punch the purple sweet potato freak to death.
At that thought, Li Ang narrowed his eyes. He needed to hurry up and butcher that fat pig Kingpin. When he came back this time, he would go talk to Kingpin about working together.
Perhaps starting a media company?
Meanwhile, in the Middle East...
Clang, clang, clang!
Tony looked at the device before him, unable to keep his voice from trembling. "It's almost ready. If this works, I absolutely have to get a cheeseburger."
