Yu Huiyin had truly never met anyone as shameless as Su Yi.
He had refused so decisively just a moment ago, yet now he was saying something like that.
The first to sign up, no less. Did he really think he had Pan An's looks and eight bushels of talent?
Yu Huiyin shot Su Yi a sideways glare.
Even if he really had Pan An's looks and eight bushels of talent, what was so great about that? He was still just a single dog!
"Xiao Bai, let's go!" Yu Huiyin supported Bai Miaomiao as she headed out of the bar.
Su Yi also stood up and asked, "Want me to see you out?"
It was getting late, after all. In Su Yi's previous understanding, it was very dangerous for girls to walk the streets at night.
"No need!" Yu Huiyin helped Bai Miaomiao into the aisle. As soon as she finished speaking, a young man with a dragon tattoo and a roguish grin plastered across his face blocked their way.
"Beautiful, leaving so early? How about having a couple more drinks with me?"
Before Su Yi could move, Zhang Ting was already striding over.
She had kept her eyes on this table almost the entire evening. She did not want anything to happen to Bai Miaomiao's group in her establishment. Even a minor unpleasant incident would be bad.
"Move!" Yu Huiyin gave the young man a cold look.
The young man let out a couple of strange chuckles and said, "Quite a temper you've got, missy. I li-"
Thud!
With a muffled grunt, the words in the young man's mouth came to an abrupt stop.
Keeping one hand on Bai Miaomiao, Yu Huiyin punched the young man straight in the lower abdomen with the other. She moved incredibly fast; it was obvious she had trained.
There was considerable force behind that punch. The young man had well-developed muscles and looked sturdy, but that single blow immediately left him in too much pain to speak. Clutching his lower abdomen, he sank into a crouch.
"Get lost!" Yu Huiyin snapped coldly, helping Bai Miaomiao onward to the side.
The young man's companions had been watching the fun nearby. At this, they all got up and came over, eyeing them like tigers eyeing prey.
Zhang Ting was quick too. She had already reached them and barked, "Liang Hu, what do you think you're doing? All of you, sit down!"
Although she was a woman, she had enough standing to keep this bar running. These men were all local thugs, and naturally knew who owned the bar. After Zhang Ting's rebuke, they were caught between standing and sitting.
Just then, a man in a suit also walked over. He was Zhang Ting's husband, Xu Chuan.
Xu Chuan went straight up and grabbed the hair of the young man who had blocked Yu Huiyin. Staring at him, he asked, "Have you had too much to drink?"
"Brother... Brother Chuan... Sorry, I've had too much!" The young man did not even have the courage to look Xu Chuan in the eye. He apologized repeatedly. "I'm sorry!"
"You really do seem to have had too much. You don't even know who to apologize to!" Xu Chuan released his hair and raised an eyebrow, commanding respect without showing anger.
Enduring the pain in his abdomen, the young man bowed and scraped to Yu Huiyin. "I'm sorry! Miss, I was wrong!"
Yu Huiyin's expression softened slightly. "Forget it." With that, she helped Bai Miaomiao outside.
Xu Chuan said to Su Yi, "Su Yi, right? Come out with me and see these three beauties off."
Su Yi nodded. Xu Chuan was the person he had met when applying for the job yesterday, so they could be considered acquainted.
Once outside the bar, Xu Chuan apologized to Yu Huiyin and Bai Qingyan again and asked whether they needed a designated driver. Only after Yu Huiyin said she had not been drinking did she have Bai Qingyan support Bai Miaomiao while she went to get the car.
When Xu Chuan saw Yu Huiyin's car, he immediately broke out in a cold sweat. As a bar owner, he sometimes heard rumors and gossip.
Never mind how impressive the car was; that license plate had quite a background.
The Yu family's eldest young lady!!
If anything had happened just now, there was absolutely no way he could have borne the consequences.
If anything at all had happened to Yu Huiyin, his bar would probably have had to close tomorrow. Thank goodness they had handled it in time.
Bai Miaomiao was helped into the car, while Xu Chuan remained where he was, bowing and scraping and apologizing over and over again. Only after the car's taillights disappeared from view did he straighten his back and wipe away his cold sweat.
Su Yi remained expressionless throughout, simply watching Xu Chuan's performance.
"Su Yi, right? You know those three beauties?" Xu Chuan had to ask. What if Su Yi had a powerful background too?
"I suppose so. We go to the same university," Su Yi said.
"Was the beauty who threw that punch surnamed Yu?" Xu Chuan asked.
"Yes, Yu Huiyin," Su Yi said. "The other two girls are surnamed Bai."
Xu Chuan swallowed hard. "Do you know who they are? The Yu family's eldest young lady, and those two from the Bai family. Holy shit! It really was them!"
Su Yi said nothing, pretending he knew nothing at all.
"You go to the same university, but you don't know who they are?" Xu Chuan lit a cigarette. After his earlier fright, he had become rather talkative. He needed someone to talk to so he could settle his nerves.
Su Yi shook his head. "I only know they're rich. I don't know them very well."
"No shit! If you knew them well, would you need to work at this lousy place of mine?" Xu Chuan said. "You know Fengye Group, right? The biggest media company in the country."
Su Yi shook his head again. "I only just came out of the mountains. Today was my first time hearing about it."
"Just came out of the mountains?" Xu Chuan glanced at Su Yi. "Then you definitely don't know about the Yu family either. Forget it. Let's go inside." At that moment, he suddenly felt as though he were playing the lute to a cow. Damn it, this kid probably did not even know that the three women he had just kept company were goddesses in countless men's dreams.
If any one of them happened to take a fancy to him, he could eat soft rice until he burst.
Xu Chuan went back into the bar and began gossiping with Zhang Ting about what he had just learned. After hearing it, Zhang Ting could not help silently drawing in a sharp breath too, thankful that nothing had happened tonight.
"Su Yi, come take a break." After finishing her conversation with Xu Chuan, Zhang Ting beckoned Su Yi over and asked with a smile, "How was your first day at work?"
"Pretty good." Su Yi smiled.
"Since I made you those promises, I'll do my best to deliver on all of them," Zhang Ting said. "Your probation is over. A base salary of six thousand plus commission. What do you think?"
"Sounds good!" Su Yi was quite satisfied with the pay. After all, the base salary they had previously discussed was eighteen hundred.
"Then let's sign a contract tomorrow. You're still studying, right? Stay for at least a full year. If you do well, I'll give you a raise every month."
Zhang Ting had seen Su Yi's potential. Given his performance tonight, if he had said the pay was not enough, she would definitely have raised it immediately. But now, what worried her was that Su Yi might quit partway through.
He truly could drink a thousand cups without getting drunk, and his skill at all sorts of games had reached the point of pure blue flame. If someone else poached such talent, it would be a huge loss.
Contracts were never really a thing for people working in bars, but Su Yi was a little different. They had to sign a contract, or Zhang Ting would not feel at ease at all.
"Sure!" Su Yi had been planning to keep working here anyway. A year was nothing to him, so he agreed casually.
As for the contract, if he really wanted to quit, no one could stop him. There was probably no one in this world who could truly restrain him.
Zhang Ting nodded and said, "Let me add you on WeChat. From now on, I'll transfer your salary to you through WeChat."
"WeChat?" Su Yi was a little puzzled. He took out his phone. It did have the WeChat app on it, but he had spent the whole day using Baidu. When had he had time to set up WeChat?
