Background / History

Heavenly Court and His First Death

Ye Wudi rose from an obscure cultivator to the last Heavenly Emperor of the Primordial Wilderness Heavenly Court. He became both a student and a close friend of Lin Fei, who rescued him from the Boundless Void by opening a passage through Chaos to the Heavenly Court 840 861 952.

As emperor, he inherited Human Emperor status, an authority passed down through three generations. Under his rule, the Heavenly Court commanded armies, Golden Immortal Xuanhuang Warships, and extensive cultivation and manufacturing infrastructure. When the Rat Race’s blood-colored fortune produced rapidly advancing champions, he deliberately allowed them to consume much of that fortune before eliminating them 910 981 1013.

Before joining the multiversal battlefield, Ye Wudi cast nine divinations, all predicting disaster. He nevertheless fought under Lin Fei and perished. His family was slaughtered, and the Heavenly Court subsequently fell to the combined assault of the myriad races 841 952 1008.

The Multiversal Heavenly Dao recognized the Heavenly Court’s merit in stabilizing the Primordial Continent. It granted Ye Wudi an exception allowing him to preserve a remnant soul and travel into the future to reincarnate. His own mastery of time made that journey possible once permission was given 841.

Reincarnation and Eternal Night Palace

Reborn with an entirely different appearance, Ye Wudi became the Heavenly Demon Divine Palace’s eldest disciple. He used the Heavenly Demon Jade Token to enter the Demon Realm without meeting the normal ascension requirement 840 848.

His objective was to obtain Goddess Yin Moon, the powerful body created during Lin Yuan’s failed attempt to resurrect Song Wei. He intended to seize Devil Race resources, recover his cultivation, and rebuild the Heavenly Court 841.

At Eternal Night Palace, Ye Ming forced him to fight twelve Tribulation Transcendence palace maids before overpowering him and demanding a wisp of his life soul. When Ye Ming touched his head, the Emperor Weapon fragment in Ye Wudi’s sea of consciousness retaliated, severely damaging Ye Ming’s primordial spirit. Unable to safely seize the fragment, Ye Ming imprisoned and tortured him 842 843 849.

Lin Fei infiltrated the palace disguised as a Devil Race woman. Ye Wudi initially interpreted his covert help as a beauty trap, but recognized him after he described the secret rescue from the Boundless Void. Ye Wudi then offered to sacrifice himself by activating his weapon fragment against Ye Ming 851 861.

Youyue and the Return to the Primordial Wilderness

When Marquis Yongye’s avatar arrived, Ye Wudi retrieved the Heavenly Demon Body but lacked the primordial spirit strength to control it. He instead instructed Youyue to possess it and helped her exploit the Seventy-Two Earth Fiend Configurations Yin-Gathering Formation to seal the marquis 869 871.

Youyue nearly destroyed her primordial spirit in the attempt. Ye Wudi comforted her, then prepared to sacrifice himself before the seal failed. Lin Fei arrived and stopped him. After Marquis Yongye captured Youyue, Ye Wudi joined the assault on Eternal Night Hall, protecting Ji Yaoguang and even swinging the unoccupied Heavenly Demon Body as a weapon 872 873 874.

Following the battle, Ye Wudi volunteered to care for the unconscious Youyue. Carrying her on his back, he accompanied Lin Fei through the heavenly gate and returned to the Primordial Wilderness after three thousand years 877.

Rebuilding Humanity’s Strength

Ye Wudi helped Lin Fei guide the survivors through spacetime distortions and killing traps toward North-Subduing City. There, he oversaw repairs to the Human Emperor Sun and Moon Formation and began rapidly rebuilding his cultivation 909 949 950 953.

He later accompanied Lin Fei toward the Heavenly Court’s inheritance. His return became a political threat: the Heavenly Mastiff King interpreted the group’s movements as evidence of a Kunpeng conspiracy to monopolize the Thirty-Three Heavens and Eight-Nine Mystic Armament Grounds 989 997.

Inside the Thirty-Three Heavens, Ye Wudi harvested resources, refined pills, and benefited from humanity’s blood-colored fortune. He recognized its sudden acceleration as a warning that the Human Race faced a catastrophic threat. When Die Feiyun approached, he refused to retreat while Lin Fei remained behind him; Lin Fei subsequently rescued him and Silver 1008 1013 1015 1016.

His knowledge also supported North-Subduing City’s war preparations. He directed production at the Eight-Nine Mystic Armament Grounds and joined the city’s defensive formation under Shu Zimo’s orders. He later understood that Shu Zimo had positioned him to detonate the Sun and Moon Bell fragment if the defense collapsed 1025 1067 1123.

Samsara Tower and Doomsday’s Sorrow

Answering the Heavenly Dao’s decree against Ye Daoran, Ye Wudi temporarily recovered his peak cultivation and restored bell. He fought into the Samsara Tower alongside Empress Yaoguang, shattering an opposing Extreme Dao Emperor Weapon on the way 1140 1142.

Within the battle, he fought the Eight-Armed Asura, Lai Feitian, without either gaining a decisive advantage. Ye Wudi later sealed the surrounding spacetime to prevent Lai Feitian from escaping and attacked him directly with the bell 1145 1149.

During the confrontation with Doomsday’s Sorrow, worms manifested inside Ye Wudi’s chest and devoured his organs. He destroyed them with nine-colored mystic light, but the damage severely weakened him. Facing infection and transformation into a Great Dao puppet, he bade the other defenders farewell and gathered his primordial spirit’s light while remembering Lin Fei and his former glory 1347 1348.

Personality

Ye Wudi’s imperial pride survives his reincarnation, but he can restrain it when necessary. Despite inwardly resenting Ye Ming’s insults, he initially bows and invokes Lin Yuan’s old friendship with Marquis Yongye rather than immediately attacking. In captivity, he maintains a convincing performance of pain when Lin Fei secretly reduces the force of his lashes 842 851.

His loyalty to Lin Fei repeatedly outweighs self-preservation. He knowingly entered a battle foretold to end in disaster, offers to expend his reincarnated life through the bell fragment, and refuses to retreat while Lin Fei is behind him. Nevertheless, he values survival because he wants to restore the Heavenly Court; when asked whether he wishes to die gloriously, his answer is “Preferably not” 861 862 952 1015 1123.

Around Lin Fei, he is candid, playful, and unusually informal. He jokes about Lin Fei’s female disguise and describes fighting shoulder to shoulder through genuine danger as more appealing than their former effortless victories. With Youyue, his gratitude and concern develop into attraction, while her teasing exposes an embarrassed side rarely associated with his imperial reputation 877 952 953.
