Background / History

Life in the Modern World

Li Jia grew up in Hubei. Her mother died of illness, and her father began bringing another woman into their lives less than three months later. At eight, Li Jia killed a parrot given to her by that woman, dismembered it, and returned its remains in a gift box. Her father subsequently sent her to a sanatorium; he continued paying the fees, but she never saw him again 5 29.

Her original body was frail, with pale, slender hands weakened by long periods in hospital rooms. She later lived alone, worked to support herself, and developed strong domestic skills. Financial pressure left little room for travel, hobbies, or comfortable housing 1 2 13 18 32.

After witnessing a construction worker die of heatstroke, Li Jia resolved to treat herself better rather than sacrifice her life to save money. Survival became her central ambition, alongside securing enough food, clothing, and freedom from unreasonable employers 18 41.

Transmigration and the Vance Household

Li Jia awakens in a world based on a Greek-mythology novel, occupying the body of a girl initially identified as Lijia Fans and subsequently called Lijia Vance. The original girl had lost her parents, lived under an abusive uncle who seized their fortune, and killed herself after being selected as a divine-attendant candidate 1 2 6.

The system assigns Li Jia the Spring Bud Protection Plan, requiring Persephone to be born, alongside a mission to prevent the War of the Gods. Failure means the world’s destruction and Li Jia’s erasure; success offers a return home and rewards that could include a healthy body. She decides to keep Hera from marrying Zeus and instead encourage a legitimate marriage between Zeus and Demeter 1.

When Conrad Vance asks her to attend the Night Banquet in Melina’s place, Li Jia agrees willingly. Knowing her consent is necessary for entry into Divine Mountain, she uses the opportunity to obtain suitable clothing and a bag of gold coins 2.

Appearance

  • Hair: Flaxen curls, worn loose over her pillow when she sleeps 12.
  • Eyes: Pale blue, compared to the sky 3.
  • Build: Light and slender; Hera notices how little she weighs when rescuing her 6.
  • Signs of hardship: Her inherited body initially has heavily calloused hands and old scars on its calves 1.
  • Divine mark: Bears a silver-serpent mark created by her contract with Hera 11.
  • Clothing: Favors comfortable sleepwear, pocketed dresses, and anime-inspired uniforms of her own design. Her traveling uniform includes a black-and-red outfit 12 13 14.

Personality

Li Jia is pragmatic, survival-driven, and openly fond of an easy life. She describes herself through a “salted fish” outlook: if she cannot change a situation, she would rather adapt and enjoy what comfort it offers. Good food, restful sleep, and a secure home matter more to her than prestige or marriage for its own sake 10 12 18.

That relaxed exterior coexists with a taste for risk. She enjoys challenges and the rush of uncertainty, willingly pursuing Hera despite the system’s unfavorable odds. She is also a calculated performer, using apparent vulnerability, flattering declarations, and deliberately induced tears to secure protection or influence Hera 2 5 6 21.

Her modern education informs her rejection of male superiority and inherited social rank. She objects to blaming women for men’s wrongdoing, questions assumptions that an “evil dragon” must be guilty, and is horrified when Hera brutally punishes a guard without legal process 2 13 19 44.

Li Jia is neither wholly trusting nor passive. She dislikes intrusive questioning, values personal boundaries, and retaliates against people who exploit her. At the same time, her initially guarded attachment to Hera becomes genuine affection, bringing guilt over her original motives and fear that the truth would cost her Hera’s love 33 38 42.

Even after registering their relationship, she insists on retaining her identity rather than becoming someone’s accessory. She treats the covenant as recognition of their bond, not a reason to rush into a wedding or assume that separation is impossible 48.

Abilities & Skills

System Guidance and Plot Knowledge

  • Communicates mentally with a conquest system that supplies mission instructions, plot prompts, and limited assistance 1 2 18.
  • Uses prior knowledge of the novel to plan interventions, though she had only skimmed roughly two-thirds of it before transmigrating 14.
  • Cannot freely reveal the book’s plot: attempts are blocked, and the system warns of backlash penalties 1 33.
  • Has no unrestricted access to future events. The system cannot simply predict developments or disclose locked portions of the plot 2 14.
  • Must contend with system crashes and misleading assistance. Its support function deliberately engineers the Light Vortex crisis to deepen her bond with Hera 8 43.

Judgment of the Dao

  • Possesses a secondary ring that can manifest Little Judgment of the Dao, an offshoot of Hera’s divine sword 26 31.
  • Receives automatic protection from the artifact, including interception of a bone spike and removal of restraints 25 26.
  • Can summon the miniature sword by concentrating and touching her ring 31.
  • Learns basic sword techniques from Doreen; her demonstrated training does not establish advanced combat mastery 31.

Persuasion and Emotional Performance

  • Recognizes when others need her cooperation and bargains accordingly, as with the Vances’ need for her willing attendance at the banquet 2.
  • Adopts a devoted, lovesick persona to remain close to Hera 11.
  • Uses Hera’s protective instincts to elicit reassurance, sometimes mixing sincere insecurity with calculated appeals for pity 21.
  • Usually accommodates Hera’s possessiveness through reassurance rather than direct confrontation 31.

Cooking and Domestic Skills

  • Can prepare meals for an entire household and identify seasonings by taste 2.
  • Introduces recipes that Winslow reproduces, including toasted bread, cheese flatbread, and honey-roasted chicken 9 12.
  • Bonds with Winslow through fishing, shared meals, and experiments with food 9 13.

Clothing Design

  • Draws garment sketches based on modern clothing, sleepwear, and anime-inspired uniforms 12 13.
  • Prioritizes comfort, practical pockets, and freedom of movement 12 13.
  • Relies on specialist makers, particularly the Goddess of Weaving, to turn her rough sketches into finished garments 13 32.

Equipment / Items

  • Secondary ring of Judgment of the Dao — A blood-fused counterpart to Hera’s primary ring. It cannot be removed by ordinary pulling, resizes with Li Jia’s transformed body, and contains half the artifact spirit 8 26.
  • Affection Hourglass — A silver necklace whose golden sand measures Hera’s affection. The system states that all sand reaching the lower chamber represents 100% affection 5.
  • Listen — A gold bracelet Hera gives her for communication over a distance 28.

  • Water-repelling pearls — Provided by Qili for visiting the Deep-Sea Wave Capital 40.

  • Custom travel accessories — Includes a Kuromi backpack and a pink, twenty-eight-inch My Melody suitcase 15 18.

  • Winslow — Close friend and fellow food enthusiast. Helps her settle into Hera’s household, arranges clothing, prepares travel snacks, and enthusiastically supports her relationship with Hera 9 12 15 48.
  • Doreen — Household ally and sword instructor. Trains Li Jia for self-defense and warns Hera that their same-sex covenant could make Li Jia a target 21 31 48.
  • Linai — Best friend, fellow transmigrator, and classmate. Their shared modern-world background brings them close; Linai accepts Li Jia’s relationship and gives her Artemis’s promised wish 28 29 50.
  • Artemis — Host during Li Jia’s schooling and a goddess she regards as gentle. Offers sincere congratulations on her covenant with Hera 28 31 50.
  • The original Lijia — Previous owner of her body. Li Jia comforts her childhood manifestation, accepts her unfulfilled wish, and gains full compatibility with the body 5 6.
  • Conrad Vance — The host body’s abusive uncle, who appropriated her inheritance and sends her to the Night Banquet 2.
  • Zeus — The prospective husband she intends to keep away from Hera; later becomes the subject of her next mission involving Demeter 1 50.

Story Role / Major Arcs

Becoming Hera’s Attendant

At Divine Mountain, Li Jia ignores Hermes’s warning and becomes the only candidate to select Hera’s red Oath Ice Crystal. During the trial, she comforts the original girl’s childhood self and receives protection after accepting her wish. She then times an apparent collapse so Hera catches and rescues her 4 6.

To justify staying at Hera’s side, Li Jia declares lifelong love and loyalty. Hera accepts her as an attendant and moves her into the inner chamber, leaving Li Jia committed to a romantic persona she originally intended as a strategy 11 12.

Polar Night Fortress

Li Jia accompanies Hera to investigate the bond between Mofeiliya and Luoleila. Hera transforms her into a little yellow chick for the journey into the freezing Eternal Rift. When she tumbles into Mofeiliya’s path during his suicide attempt, Judgment of the Dao protects her from his falling bone spike 18 22 25.

Hera’s explanation that the secondary ring carries half her divine power deeply affects Li Jia. Although she still expects mission completion to mean leaving, she realizes that she does not want to go 26.

Schooling and Eastern Lake

Li Jia studies alongside Linai at Artemis’s residence while learning swordsmanship under Doreen. After nearly half a year, both students pass their final examinations and receive winter homework 28 31.

During their subsequent vacation, Li Jia struggles with guilt over deceiving Hera and finds herself unable to confess the truth because of the system’s restrictions. The trip also involves the effort to save Qili before she turns into sea foam 32 33 35 36.

Light Vortex Crisis

Warned that she could die before completing her mission, Li Jia accepts a support function with equal chances of success and failure. The system then steers her into a trap: a false mermaid persuades her to place a malicious rivet against the Light Vortex 42 43.

Hera arrives to defend her, but the brutal treatment of a challenging guard horrifies Li Jia. After their first night together, Li Jia worries that Hera has far more romantic experience; Hera reassures her that she had been nervous too 43 44 45.

Marriage Covenant and Continuing Mission

Li Jia and Hera register their covenant at the Temple of the Goddess of Marriage while declining an immediate wedding. Hera removes the Vance surname from the record, and Li Jia affirms that she loves her and has chosen to stay 48.

After receiving blessings and gifts from their friends, they return to Hot Spring Ravine and agree that they do not want children. The system then directs Li Jia to advance Demeter and Zeus’s relationship so the Goddess of Spring can be born 50.
