The Devouring System?
At this critical moment, Chu Tiannan watched the flying blade draw within inches of him, but something else stunned him just as much.
The Devouring System actually spoke at that instant. It seemed something new could be activated?
"Do you even need to ask? Activate it!" Although Chu Tiannan had not heard clearly, he dared not hesitate with his life on the line.
He placed all his hopes on this activation.
Activation successful! Host, please accept Heavenly Sin Mingshe. From this moment on, you are not only a Martial Artist, but also a controller!
After the system finished speaking, it fell silent again.
At the same time, Chu Tiannan felt as though his eyes could make out more things.
Most importantly, however, the blade that had been hurtling toward him now appeared, in Chu Tiannan's eyes,
much slower!
"What good is slowing it down?!" Although looking around gave Chu Tiannan a preliminary sense of control over the entire situation, he still could not help roaring inwardly.
What I want is to stop it!
Buzz!
Just as the flying blade was about to reach Chu Tiannan, a streak of black light suddenly shot out from some unknown direction.
It instantly shattered the blade, then vanished without a trace once the danger had been resolved.
"Is the danger over?" Seeing the shattered blade on the ground, Chu Tiannan's forehead was covered in cold sweat. As he relaxed, waves of dizziness instantly swept over him.
At that moment, Chu Tiannan felt as though his entire soul had been drained dry, and his mind felt terribly heavy.
Had his strong will not been holding him up, he would already have fallen asleep.
Meanwhile, in a corner of the chaotic grounds, a thin, small figure filled with disbelief kept muttering.
"This is impossible... this is impossible... how could I have failed?"
At the same time, a graceful figure in yellow suddenly appeared at the entrance to the grounds. Luo'er was startled to see more than a dozen prisoners lying on the ground in pain.
As her bright eyes searched, they finally settled on the swaying young man, and she quickly ran over.
"Tiannan, are you all right?" Luo'er could see that something was wrong. Chu Tiannan looked as though he might collapse at any moment, and a trace of urgency entered her voice.
"I'm... I'm fine!" Seeing the familiar girl, Chu Tiannan did not know why, but the sight of Luo'er's lovely, fresh face instantly put his heart much more at ease.
But once he relaxed, overwhelming exhaustion surged over him. Chu Tiannan's eyes drifted shut, and he collapsed.
Leaving Luo'er anxiously on her own!
When Chu Tiannan struggled to open his eyes again, it was already dark outside.
He was lying on a clean nursing bed, with a patch on his hand for monitoring his heart rhythm. Clearly,
Chu Tiannan knew he had been transferred out of prison.
Chu Tiannan knew that he had been so exhausted earlier that he had finally been unable to resist falling asleep.
When he sat up, however, he discovered that the earlier crushing exhaustion had disappeared.
"Looks like I used up too much soul power earlier?" Chu Tian shook his head slightly, and suddenly, something stirred in his mind.
Host! Since that was your first time using Heavenly Sin Mingshe, the system must remind you. Do not drive your soul power so recklessly next time. It will exhaust your soul and send you into a deep sleep. At best, it will damage your soul's essence. At worst, you may sleep forever! Remember! Remember!
The system's emotionless notification rang out in Chu Tiannan's mind, instantly making him understand.
"No wonder. I was probably too anxious earlier and poured out my soul power at full strength all at once." Recalling the earlier scene, Chu Tiannan still felt some lingering fear.
If Devour had not come to his rescue in the nick of time and given him another incredible weapon,
Chu Tiannan might very well have been crippled!
"Heavenly Sin Mingshe..." Chu Tiannan felt that his soul power was completely replenished. Seeing no one around, he carefully activated it.
A small, ink-black blade condensed out of Chu Tiannan's body.
The short blade was shaped like a little snake, flying nimbly around Chu Tiannan.
As though trying to please its master.
"No wonder it's called Heavenly Sin Mingshe..." Once he saw the short blade's shape clearly, Chu Tiannan nodded. His gaze swept toward a spot outside the window, and the corners of his mouth curved slightly.
Go!
Buzz!
Under his mental control, Heavenly Sin Mingshe seemed to receive its master's command. It let out a cheerful, vibrating hum, moving with incredible speed.
A streak of black light shot fiercely out through the window. It flashed through the quiet garden before finally slamming into an unremarkable, enormous rock on the lawn.
Crack!
The black light pierced through the rock and finally returned silently to Chu Tiannan's side. Just as he was about to speak, a tremendous crash rang out.
The rock on the lawn, which stood over half a person's height, was instantly covered in spiderweb-like cracks. Then, under Chu Tiannan's astonished gaze,
it suddenly exploded into pieces!
