Background
According to Chen Mo’s account of the original story, Xiao Wu entered the human world and cultivated anew to avenge her mother, who had been hunted down by Spirit Hall. Da Ming and Er Ming, the Sky Azure Bull Python and Titan Giant Ape, were her close younger-brother figures and had protected her as she grew up 43.
At Nuoding Academy, she initially became close to Tang San, sharing his quilt and accepting food from him. Tang Hao secretly recognized her as a hundred-thousand-year soul beast. Although he briefly considered killing her for her Soul Ring and Soul Bone, he instead left her beside Tang San as a potential future “helper” for his son 6 7.
Appearance
- Human form: A small girl with pink hair worn in a scorpion braid, large eyes, and two dimples when she smiles 6.
- Clothing: Wears clean pink clothes when she moves into Chen Mo’s courtyard 44.
- Martial Soul manifestation: Pink light surrounds her, and two white rabbit ears emerge from her head 39.
Personality
Xiao Wu is outspoken and quick to fight when insulted. She accepts Xiao Chenyu’s challenge after he threatens to make her his “pet rabbit,” then boldly invites the remaining noble students to attack together after defeating him. Even when restrained and threatened, she stubbornly refuses to cry in front of them 38 39 40.
Her confidence contrasts with her fear of being hunted for her Soul Ring. Discovering that Chen Mo knows her identity initially terrifies her, while the diary’s account of Da Ming and Er Ming’s deaths leaves her grieving and suspicious of Tang San. She eventually resolves to reject the fate described in the diary and make her own choice 22 35 43.
Around Chen Mo, she becomes affectionate, easily embarrassed, and openly admiring. She also practices diligently under his instruction, repeating the revised Waist Bow movements for over two hours despite sweating heavily 41 42 45.
Abilities & Skills
Soft Bone Rabbit Martial Soul
Her Martial Soul manifests rabbit ears and pink light, accompanied by a yellow hundred-year Soul Ring 39.
- Her enhanced strength and speed surpass those of the lower-ranked noble students who surround her 39.
- Her rank-eleven Soul Power reserves remain limited: repeated skill use during a group fight leaves her exhausted and unable to escape restraint 39 40.
Waist Bow
Her first Soul Skill turns her waist into a spring-like source of explosive force, supporting rapid movement, throws, and grappling attacks 39.
- Throws: Catches an opponent’s wrist and uses her waist’s rotation to slam them into the ground 39.
- Scissor lock: Clamps her legs around an opponent’s neck, then twists to fling them away 39.
- Escape: Throws off an attacker holding her from behind, provided she has enough Soul Power remaining 39 40.
- Revised kicks: Under Chen Mo’s guidance, redirects the skill into kicks with greater reach, reducing reliance on full-body contact 44 45.
Grappling and Evasion
Xiao Wu combines flexible body movement with precise counters, slipping between Xiao Chenyu’s wolf-claw attacks and exploiting openings in his stance 39.
- Uses wrist locks, elbows, backhand shoves, and kicks to unbalance opponents 39.
- Defeats Xiao Chenyu despite both being rank eleven, but is subsequently overwhelmed by coordinated attackers 39 40.
Items
- Diary copy — Appears before her at Nuoding Academy and receives Chen Mo’s entries. Tang San cannot see it; an attempt to mention it triggers a threatening warning. A later system notice forbids diary holders from revealing its contents or harming Chen Mo 12 28.
- Wound medicine — Given to her by Chen Mo after the playground fight; he later applies the ointment to her injuries in the infirmary 41 42.
Relationships
- Chen Mo — Initially an alarming stranger who knows her soul-beast identity, later her protector, host, and combat instructor. His Bond System records her affection at 15 upon their first meeting and 35 after her rescue and another diary revelation. She calls him “Brother Chen Mo” and chooses to move into his courtyard 22 28 41 43 44 45.
- Tang San — Her early companion and romantic interest. The diary’s account of her sacrifice and her brothers’ deaths makes her question his motives and avoid him. By the time she moves out, she welcomes his decision to prioritize cultivation and keep his distance 6 35 37 43 45.
- Da Ming — The Sky Azure Bull Python, whom she regards as a younger brother. She remembers his steady manner and grieves over the diary’s account of his sacrifice 43.
- Er Ming — The Titan Giant Ape, another younger-brother figure. She recalls his guileless affection and is devastated by his reported death 43.
- Blue Silver Emperor — Quickly befriends Xiao Wu after she moves in, rubbing its leaves against her fingertip. Xiao Wu later spends time playing with it in the courtyard 44 47.
- Wang Sheng — Fellow work-study student who calls her “Sister Xiao Wu,” protests Xiao Chenyu’s treatment of her, and tries to help when she is captured 38 39 40.
- Xiao Chenyu — Noble student who harasses and challenges her. She defeats him in their duel, but his followers overwhelm her, allowing him to threaten her with his wolf claws before Chen Mo intervenes 38 39 40.
Story Role / Major Arcs
Receiving the Diary
Xiao Wu’s diary copy reveals her hidden species and describes a future in which Spirit Hall hunts her and she sacrifices herself for Tang San. Her fear of Chen Mo is partly eased by a system assurance that the diary’s owner will never harm her. Curiosity grows as she reads about his unusually powerful Soul Rings, and she finally meets him through Tang San 12 15 18 22 28.
Breaking Away from Tang San
Later entries claim that her sacrifice gives Tang San her Soul Ring and Soul Bone, and that Da Ming and Er Ming also die to enable her resurrection. These are accounts of the original story presented through Chen Mo’s diary, not events Xiao Wu has experienced in the current timeline. She nevertheless begins fearing Tang San and seeking safety beside Chen Mo, who comforts her with a carrot and conversation 35 36 37 43.
Chen Mo also encourages Tang San to view Xiao Wu as a distraction from cultivation, using his Idiocy Aura to make Tang San accept the argument. Xiao Wu reads about this manipulation through the diary 29 30.
Playground Fight and Rescue
After Xiao Chenyu insults the work-study students, Xiao Wu accepts his duel and defeats him with Waist Bow. Her subsequent challenge to the other noble students backfires: their coordinated attacks drain her Soul Power, and she is restrained with claws pressed against her neck. Chen Mo defeats the attackers and treats her wounds, strengthening her trust in him 38 39 40 41 42.
Moving into Chen Mo’s Courtyard
Following another diary entry about her original fate, Xiao Wu decides to choose a different path. She arrives at Chen Mo’s home with her belongings, citing Dorm Seven’s poor conditions and offering rent. He gives her the empty west wing without charge 43 44.
She befriends the Blue Silver Emperor and begins revising Waist Bow under Chen Mo’s guidance. As Tang San increasingly focuses on cultivation, she remains close to Chen Mo, though she still questions Tang San’s awkward behavior toward her 44 45 46 47.
