Background / History
Clear Sky Sect Prodigy
Tang Hao’s reputation spread while the Clear Sky Sect and Spirit Hall competed for influence. At twenty-four, he was a rank 54 Soul King proficient in two of his sect’s supreme hammer techniques, making him a leading contender in the Continental Advanced Soul Master Tournament 5 61.
His confidence antagonized rival teams and spectators. During the advancement tournament, Long Qianming proposed settling Häagen-Dazs Academy’s match against Clear Sky Academy through a single duel between Dugu Xin and Tang Hao. Tang Hao accepted, then defeated Dugu Xin by combining enhancement skills with Void Absolute, breaking both of his opponent’s arms. Long Qianming conceded, securing first place for Clear Sky Academy 73 77 78.
Tournament Championship
In the championship match, Tang Hao led a five-person Clear Sky Academy lineup against Bibi Dong’s Spirit Hall team. He broke through their chains and spider-web restraints, but repeated use of the Clear Sky Nine Absolutes consumed forty percent of his Soul Power 84.
Tang Hao ended the match with Sky-Piercing Strike. The attack shattered Bibi Dong’s defensive barrier, severely injured her, defeated Spirit Hall’s entire team, and devastated the hundred-meter arena. Qian Xunji presented Clear Sky Academy with a forty-thousand-year Heaven Poison Demon Scorpion arm bone as its championship reward 85.
Defeat at the Hundred Sects Grand Competition
After killing thousands of Fallen Soul Masters in Slaughter City, Tang Hao returned with the Slaughter God title and Divine Slaughter’s Domain. At the Hundred Sects Grand Competition, he challenged a disguised Long Qianming, intending to seize his external hand Soul Bones 129 130.
Xiao Tian’s undying black flames shattered Tang Hao’s Clear Sky True Body. Tang Hao then targeted Long Qianming himself with Collapse Absolute, assuming the Soul Master was weaker than his dragon. Long Qianming’s scales stopped the attack without injury; he retaliated, ruined Tang Hao’s right arm, and took the forty-thousand-year Soul Bone that detached from it. Tang Chi intervened and sent Tang Hao for treatment 130.
Tang Hao subsequently lost the arm entirely. His humiliation and the Clear Sky Sect’s decline intensified his hatred of Long Qianming, while the killing intent in his domain began affecting his behavior. He participated in the sect’s rebuilding discussions but remained unable to advance beyond rank 72 for a year 142 154.
Travels with Tang Xiao and Feng Wuyi
Tang Hao left the sect to seek an opportunity to recover, accompanied by his elder brother Tang Xiao. After three Fallen Soul Masters overwhelmed the brothers, Feng Wuyi rescued them and offered to travel with them and treat their injuries 153 154.
Over the following four or five years, Tang Hao fell in love with Feng Wuyi, but she chose Tang Xiao. When the couple began discussing marriage, Tang Hao’s jealousy became possessive. He drugged their wine with hallucinogenic powder, sexually assaulted Feng Wuyi while she mistook him for Tang Xiao, and murdered an attendant and the attendant’s family to conceal his preparations 167 168.
Feng Wuyi’s pregnancy exposed the conflict between the brothers. Tang Hao portrayed the encounter as an accident caused by drinking and promised to take responsibility. Feng Wuyi left for her forest, rejected his offer to care for her, and insisted that she could raise the child herself. Tang Hao nevertheless followed her 174 175.
Feng Wuyi’s Sacrifice and Tang San’s Birth
The Wolf Bandits barred Tang Hao from seeing Feng Wuyi at her request. His attempt to force his way past them coincided with Yue Guan and Gui Mei’s attack on the forest. Gravely wounded, Tang Hao survived an unexpected eruption of icy power through Divine Slaughter’s Domain, which blocked their attacks and healed his internal injuries 177 178.
When the pursuit resumed, Feng Wuyi sacrificed herself to preserve her unborn child. Her sacrifice restored Tang Hao’s arm and raised him to rank 82. A hundred-thousand-year torso bone appeared, but transformed into red mist and entered the light containing their child before Tang Hao could absorb it. Tang San was born from that light, and Tang Hao escaped with him 179.
The Asura God later confirmed that he had secretly helped Tang Hao through Divine Slaughter’s Domain during this crisis 222.
Raising Tang San
Tang Hao later lived with Tang San at a village smithy. Initially indifferent to his son’s innate full Soul Power, he dismissed Tang San’s apparent wolf Martial Soul as useless against the family’s enemies. Discovering that Tang San also possessed the Clear Sky Hammer changed his attitude: he permitted academy study, but ordered his son to cultivate only the wolf Martial Soul, conceal the hammer, and keep a low profile 197.
He secretly followed Tang San during his first Soul Ring hunt and hoped his son would eventually help destroy Spirit Hall and the Heavenly Dragon Sect. During this surveillance, his hammer unexpectedly released slaughter aura, causing him to fall from a tree and suffer multiple fractures. Tang Hao blamed the incident on lingering effects of Long Qianming’s earlier attack 205.
Final Hunt and Death
Tang Hao killed a ninety-thousand-year Fifteen Ton Ant Emperor and escaped its two companions with the corpse. A mysterious red beam from his hammer helped secure his escape; the Asura God later identified this as another instance of his intervention. Tang Hao absorbed the dead beast’s ring and became a Titled Douluo 216 222.
In Heaven Dou City, he decided to murder an apparent Heavenly Dragon Academy teacher and two students to damage the academy’s reputation. The teacher was actually Long Qianming in disguise, traveling with Long Xiaoyao and Long Zishu. Once Long Qianming revealed himself, Tang Hao tried unsuccessfully to escape through the surrounding barrier 216 217 218.
Tang Hao activated his Martial Soul Avatar and eventually detonated his first eight Soul Rings. Long Qianming shattered his hammer with Rising Dragon Fist, then burned him to ashes, destroying his soul as well. Six Soul Bones remained and were collected by Long Qianming 218.
Appearance
- After losing his arm: Described as filthy and disheveled, with his entire right arm missing 142.
- Later clothing: Wore black robes while watching Tang San, hunting the Fifteen Ton Ant Emperor, and approaching Long Qianming’s camp 205 216 217.
- Wind Wolf Bloodlust transformation: Grew to three times his normal size, developed red eyes and wolf hair on his arms, and resembled a giant humanoid wolf 216.
Personality
Tang Hao is intensely proud of his talent and the Clear Sky Sect’s heritage. He openly belittles opponents, treats victory as proof of his sect’s superiority, and initially assumes that even Xiao Tian’s overwhelming power cannot defeat him. His conduct makes rival competitors hope for his defeat despite recognizing his ability 73 77 84 130.
His pride becomes particularly fragile after losing his arm. He interprets Tang Xiao’s attempts to protect him as contempt, lashes out over his stalled cultivation, and repeatedly blames Long Qianming for both his personal failures and the sect’s decline 142 154 205 216.
His attachment to Feng Wuyi develops into coercive possessiveness. He refuses to accept her preference for Tang Xiao, engineers the drugging and assault, and kills witnesses to protect his deception. Even after she rejects his help, he treats access to her and their child as something the Wolf Bandits are wrongfully denying him 167 168 175 177.
Tang Hao’s investment in Tang San is closely tied to revenge. His initial dismissal turns to excitement when the Clear Sky Hammer reveals the possibility of twin Martial Souls; afterward, he resolves to protect Tang San until his son can challenge their enemies 197 205.
Abilities & Skills
Clear Sky Hammer
Tang Hao’s weapon-type Martial Soul supports heavy strikes, enhancement skills, and the Clear Sky Sect’s specialized hammer arts 61 77.
- Weighed four thousand jin during his duel with Dugu Xin 77.
- His final Soul Ring configuration was yellow, yellow, purple, purple, black, black, black, red, black 217.
- His seventh ring was thirty thousand years old; his eighth was hundred thousand years old, and his ninth came from a ninety-thousand-year Fifteen Ton Ant Emperor 179 216 218.
| Soul Skill | Documented Effects |
|---|---|
| Third — Indomitable Will | Greatly increases spiritual power and physical strength. Used to resist poison mist and track opponents’ movements 77 84 130. |
| Fourth — Titan’s Hammer | Creates an enormous black hammer projection capable of covering much of an arena 77. |
| Fifth — Frenzy | Induces a berserk state, increasing attack speed and critical hits 78. |
| Sixth — Storm Whirlwind Hammer | Sends the hammer spinning outward. Interrupted Yue Guan and Gui Mei before they could complete Two Extremes Stillness Domain 178. |
| Seventh — Clear Sky True Body | His Martial Soul Avatar; manifests a gigantic Clear Sky Hammer. Described as doubling all attributes during his escape with Tang San 130 179. |
| Eighth — Berserk Bloodthirst / Wind Wolf Bloodlust | The sacrifice-derived ring provides two powerful skills. Documented effects include tripling attack, explosive power, and speed, and a giant wolf-like transformation 179 216. |
- Eighth-ring drawbacks: Severe consumption of blood and vitality, mental frenzy, bloodlust, and indiscriminate killing impulses. One use reduced his vitality by one-fifth; Divine Slaughter’s Domain helped restrain the effects 216.
Clear Sky Nine Absolutes
Tang Hao mastered this sect technique before the tournament 61 77.
- Void Absolute: Used to strike Dugu Xin from behind and repel Bibi Dong’s Death Spider Emperor 78 84.
- Penetration Absolute: Enlarged and hurled the hammer as a spinning disc, breaking Heart-Devouring Chains 84.
- Instant Absolute: Increased his instantaneous movement speed and enlarged his hammer for a sudden charge 84.
- Collapse Absolute: Described as the hammer art’s most destructive technique. Consumed his remaining forty percent of Soul Power but failed against Long Qianming’s dragon scales 130.
- Limit: Repeated use rapidly depleted his Soul Power during the tournament final 84.
Disorder Splitting Wind Hammer
A sect hammer technique that builds power through successive strikes 61 216.
- Combined with his eighth-ring berserk enhancement to repel two ninety-thousand-year Fifteen Ton Ant Emperors after only three strikes 216.
- Requires time to accumulate power; the enhanced speed of his eighth Soul Skill shortened that buildup 216.
Sky-Piercing Strike and Clear Sky Body Protection
Two techniques demonstrated during his tournament championship 84 85.
- Sky-Piercing Strike: Manifested a black hammer roughly seven meters tall. Destroyed Bibi Dong’s barrier and devastated the arena 84 85.
- Clear Sky Body Protection: Released a barrier that shattered combined restraints. Later prevented Yue Guan’s surprise attack from killing him immediately 84 177.
Divine Slaughter’s Domain
A domain obtained after Tang Hao’s time in Slaughter City 130.
- Reduced Xiao Tian’s attacking speed and strength by ten percent while raising Tang Hao’s strength by ten percent 130.
- Its killing intent began influencing Tang Hao during his recovery 142.
- Served as the channel for the Asura God’s two secret interventions; these exceptional rescues were not solely Tang Hao’s own power 178 216 222.
Great Sumeru Hammer and Ring Detonation
Tang Hao eventually acquired the Great Sumeru Hammer and used it to kill several Soul Saint-level Fallen Soul Masters 167.
- Detonated his first eight Soul Rings during his final battle, converting them into a tremendous temporary power increase 218.
- The process worsened his injuries and subjected his body to hundredfold pressure 218.
- Detonating all nine rings would have destroyed his body immediately; he left his ninth ring intact and still failed to defeat Long Qianming 218.
Equipment / Soul Bones
- Tournament reward: Received a forty-thousand-year Heaven Poison Demon Scorpion arm bone from Qian Xunji. It is called a left arm bone when awarded, but the bone Long Qianming later takes from Tang Hao’s ruined right arm is explicitly identified as that tournament prize 85 130.
- Inherited Soul Bones: Possessed a sect-inherited arm bone and leg bone, both over twenty thousand years old 218.
- Fifteen Ton Ant Emperor Soul Bone: Possessed a ninety-thousand-year bone recovered by Long Qianming after his death 217 218.
- Final set: Had six Soul Bones at death. The preceding chapter lists one hundred-thousand-year bone, one ninety-thousand-year bone, two inherited bones, and two additional ten-thousand-year bones 217 218.
- Feng Wuyi’s torso bone: Appeared during her sacrifice but entered the light containing Tang San before Tang Hao could absorb it; it was not shown entering his body at that time 179.
Relationships
- Tang Zhen — Father. Helped oversee Tang Hao’s recovery and sent Tang Xiao to accompany him when he traveled for experience 133 154.
- Tang Xiao — Elder brother and traveling companion. Repeatedly protected Tang Hao, but their relationship fractured over Feng Wuyi’s pregnancy and Tang Hao’s concealed actions 154 167 174.
- Tang Yuehua — Younger sister. Comforted him after his mutilation and brought news of Long Qianming’s activities 142.
- Feng Wuyi — Rescuer, traveling companion, and mother of Tang San. Tang Hao assaulted her through drug-induced deception; she later sacrificed herself to protect their child, restoring his arm and cultivation in the process 154 168 179.
- Tang San — Son and intended partner in revenge. Tang Hao concealed his own history, ordered Tang San to hide the Clear Sky Hammer, and secretly guarded his early development 179 197 205.
- Long Qianming — Principal enemy and eventual killer. Took Tang Hao’s arm and tournament Soul Bone; later killed him after he targeted Long Qianming and his children 130 216 217 218.

- Dugu Xin — Advancement-tournament opponent. Tang Hao broke his arms and forced Häagen-Dazs Academy to concede 77 78.
- Yue Guan and Gui Mei — Spirit Hall pursuers. Their attack led to Feng Wuyi’s sacrifice, and Tang Hao vowed to kill them 177 178 179.
- Asura God — Covert divine backer. Saved Tang Hao twice through his domain, but considered him valuable primarily because of the child he fathered with a Soul Beast 179 222.
