His return drew attention because both his first ring and his appearance had changed dramatically. At the academy’s celebration banquet, Shen Zhinian challenged the claim that he possessed an exceptional first ring. Lin Kong revealed his Netherworld Bamboo ring, accepted the confrontation, and defeated Shen through grass-assisted movement and Netherworld Shriek 6 7 9 10 11.

Ah Yin’s Soul Bone and Sacrifice

Lin Kong researched maps in the academy library and located the waterfall concealing Ah Yin and her soul bone. His martial soul’s attraction to the Blue Silver Emperor helped him identify the hidden chamber. He retrieved the soul bone and absorbed it, advancing from level eleven to nineteen 11 12 13.

When Ah Yin regained consciousness and begged to accompany him, he initially refused, arguing that her conspicuous appearance would attract stronger Soul Masters. He returned after hearing her repeated cries, but then used the threat of abandonment to negotiate for greater benefits. Ah Yin ultimately sacrificed herself, granting him her bloodline and a growable Blue Silver Clan soul ring. Lin Kong left with her grass seed tied to his leg, reaching level twenty-one in the process 12 13.

Black Prison Asura and Shrek Academy

With Flender’s assistance, Lin Kong registered at Suotuo City’s Great Soul Arena as Black Prison Asura despite lacking Spirit Hall identification. He won ten consecutive matches on his first night and later accumulated a forty-match winning streak worth 3,055 points—enough for a Silver Soul Badge. Flender subsequently admitted that he had arranged for Lin Kong to avoid fire-attribute opponents while betting on his victories 15 26 29.

Flender brought him into Shrek Academy without the usual entrance assessment, prompting objections from other students. A duel against Tang San served as his assessment instead. Despite being eight levels lower, Lin Kong suppressed Tang San’s Blue Silver Grass, neutralized his entangling vines and parasitic seeds, and won by combining Growth with Netherworld Shriek 18 19 20 21.

Lin Kong later partnered with Ning Rongrong to form Black Prison Demonic Light. Their first two-person match ended in victory over the Iron Blood Duo, with Lin Kong protecting Rongrong from the brothers’ thrown hammers 32 33.

Star Dou Great Forest Expedition

During the journey, Lin Kong took charge of Shrek’s confrontation with Canghui Academy. He challenged Tang San’s proposed strategy against Ye Zhiqiu, pointing out that it left Ning Rongrong vulnerable, and devised a concealment-and-attrition formation instead. His grass obscured the team’s movements while Oscar and Tang San supplied additional soul power. Lin Kong then fought Meng Yiran over the Phoenix-tail Crested Serpent intended for Oscar. When the Titan Giant Ape attacked, Lin Kong threw Oscar and Zhu Zhuqing away from immediate danger before joining the resistance. After the beast seized Xiao Wu, he caught Zhu Zhuqing in midair and used Growth to cushion the group’s fall. He then consumed a fallen Mushroom Sausage and followed Tang San into the forest, secretly intending to pursue the opportunity involving the Eight Spider Lances 49 50.

Appearance

• Before his first ring: Small and thin, with sallow skin, sunken cheeks, and dry, yellowed hair with split ends. His large, bright eyes were his most striking feature 1.
• After the Netherworld Bamboo ring: Developed smooth jet-black hair, defined features, light wheat-colored skin, greater height, and twenty or thirty jin of additional muscle. His voice changed as well 5.
• After Ah Yin’s soul bone and sacrifice: Became still more handsome, retaining only roughly thirty to forty percent resemblance to his earlier appearance 17.
• At Shrek: Wore neat, dark casual clothing and had a tall, well-proportioned build. His normally gentle expression contrasted with the cold, mysterious bearing created by his manifested martial soul 17 19.

Personality

Lin Kong is intensely ambitious and unwilling to accept the limitations of his original talent. His fear of an ordinary future drives him to take calculated but severe risks, including hunting a hundred-year soul beast without assistance. During his first ring absorption, he continues resisting even as his body and martial soul approach collapse 1 4 5.

He is resourceful and opportunistic, combining foreknowledge with practical preparation. He researches maps to locate Ah Yin, uses fire against a rooted plant beast, and exploits Tang San’s compatible martial soul as a source of replenishment. His treatment of Ah Yin also reveals a manipulative side: he conceals his eagerness for her bloodline and repeatedly threatens to leave until she offers it 4 11 13 38 41.

His sharp tongue can be charming or confrontational. He entertains Xiao Wu with jokes, retaliates forcefully when Shen Zhinian tries to humiliate him, and bluntly criticizes his own teammates for provoking Canghui Academy. Although usually composed, he becomes visibly embarrassed when the group teases him about Meng Yiran 1 9 36 46.

His protectiveness coexists with harsh methods. He grabs Ning Rongrong by the throat to demonstrate the danger of provoking a combat specialist, yet refuses to leave her alone afterward. In battle, he shields her from thrown weapons and uses his grass to rescue and cushion endangered classmates 23 24 33 49 50.
