Tang Wulin is warmhearted and approachable. When Yan Qing first asks for directions to the commission hall, he immediately offers to guide him there. He later invites Yan Qing to eat after a promotion match and to travel together for their final examinations 9 11 34.

He works hard to fund his cultivation, repeatedly accepting forging commissions as he prepares to unlock his first Golden Dragon King seal. At Shrek, he hopes to compete for class president and gratefully accepts Yan Qing’s metal-supply arrangement, which pays better than work-study missions 14 25.

He also questions business practices rather than accepting them blindly. While helping in Yan Qing’s shop, he asks whether the Battle Armor card-redemption scheme will lose money, then suspects that the rare helmet cards may never have been printed 31.

History

Eastsea Academy

Tang Wulin begins attending Eastsea Academy at nine and works as a blacksmith in Eastsea City. He first meets Yan Qing at the Blacksmith Association, then discovers that the newcomer has joined his Class Five under Wu Changkong 8 9 10.

In their first spar, Tang Wulin and Xie Xie face Yan Qing together. Yan Qing manipulates their timing with Once and Future, causing Xie Xie’s dagger to strike Tang Wulin’s arm. The resulting uncontrolled Golden Dragon Claw ends their ability to fight, and Wu Changkong declares Yan Qing the winner 10.

Tang Wulin subsequently joins Yan Qing, Gu Yue, and Xie Xie in the promotion tournament. Their victories lead to the establishment of Class Zero. During this period, he unlocks his first bloodline seal and gains control of the Golden Dragon Claw 10 11 14.

At the Skysea Alliance Grand Competition, he teams with Gu Yue and Xie Xie, with Xu Xiaoyan as their substitute. An injury in the individual competition prevents him from claiming the forging championship, which Mu Xi wins instead 20 21.

Shrek Academy Admission

Three years later, Tang Wulin travels to Shrek City with Class Zero. A bloodline-seal breakthrough delays the entire group, forcing Wu Changkong to secure entrance-assessment places that permit admission only as work-study students 21 22.

He contributes directly to the group’s assessments: resisting Di Tian’s portrait, holding up a scythe gate, consuming all the food in the eating trial, and completing the endurance course. During the survival assessment, he retrieves an unconscious Three-Eyed Golden Lion but declines its Soul Ring or Soul Bone. The group ultimately enters Shrek as work-study students 22 23 24.

Blacksmithing and Yan Qing’s Shop

At Shrek, Yan Qing recruits Tang Wulin to supply Fusion Forged metals for a Battle Armor blind-box business. Tang Wulin accepts the favorable payment terms and later helps staff the shop alongside Xie Xie 25 31.

During the final-exam journey, Yan Qing secretly follows him onto a train. After using an illusory snake to help both of them evade ticket inspection, Yan Qing reports Tang Wulin’s fare evasion so he can conduct his own plans without being recognized. Tang Wulin is removed from the train and reaches Heaven Dou City later than expected 34 37.

There, he attends Zhen Hua’s lesson and demonstrates Spirit Forging. Unknown to him, Yan Qing has already supplied Zhen Hua with a prophecy naming Tang Wulin as a forging prodigy and warning of an impending Evil Soul Master attack 37.

Tang Ziran’s Captivity

Tang Wulin’s adoptive father, Tang Ziran, has been captured and taken to the Star Luo Empire for forced labor. Yan Qing gives Tong Yu information about Tang Ziran’s impending danger, creating an opportunity for Tong Yu to atone for harming him in childhood. The rescue’s outcome is not shown in the provided chapters 39.
