It really was for cooking.
"Ah! Ow! Aah! That hurts!"
Jun Yi's miserable howls instantly swept across the entire Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Sect, making every disciple shudder, their scalps tingling.
They had never seen Sword Douluo personally train a disciple before. Now, seeing Jun Yi's wretched state, they even felt somewhat fortunate.
As for Jun Yi himself, he had been beaten black and blue and was foaming at the mouth, lying on the ground on the verge of passing out.
Sword Douluo called over a disciple of the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Sect, then pointed at Jun Yi on the ground. "Heal him."
The disciple summoned a Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Pagoda and treated Jun Yi. Before long, all his injuries had vanished, leaving him as good as new.
Then Sword Douluo approached Jun Yi again, his voice sounding like a devil's. "Kid, again."
Jun Yi's howls once more echoed throughout the sect.
Meanwhile, Ning Rongrong blearily opened her eyes, having been woken by the howling. She rolled over and muttered to herself, "Sounds like they're slaughtering a pig. We'll have pork for lunch today."
Then Ning Rongrong drifted back to sleep...
Before he knew it, it was already afternoon. Jun Yi had lost count of how many times he had been beaten and healed. All he knew was that he was utterly drained, lying on the ground with an empty mind, unwilling to move a muscle. He no longer wanted to think about anything else, because all he wanted now was a good sleep.
Sword Douluo, by contrast, looked perfectly at ease, without the slightest sign of fatigue, and still wanted to continue "training" Jun Yi.
"Your Eminence Sword Douluo, can we stop here for today? I'm a little hungry. Could we continue after we eat?"
Jun Yi waved his hand weakly and pleaded, thinking that Sword Douluo should have vented almost enough by now.
"Mm, it's about time anyway. Let's eat first and continue tomorrow."
With that, Sword Douluo thrust the wooden sword in his hand into the ground and turned to leave.
"Aren't you coming?" Sword Douluo's voice reached Jun Yi's ears.
"Coming!"
Jun Yi stood up, dusted himself off, and followed Sword Douluo to the dining room they had used yesterday.
The table was covered with all kinds of meat and vegetables, a far more lavish spread than yesterday's. Ning Fengzhi and Bone Douluo were already seated.
Just as he had yesterday, Sword Douluo sat beside Ning Fengzhi. Jun Yi sat down as well and greeted the other two respectfully. "Good afternoon, Uncle Ning, Your Eminence Bone Douluo."
"Mm, you must be tired after training all morning. These dishes were prepared especially for you. Most of the meat comes from Hundred-Year Soul Beasts and will help you recover your strength quickly. These vegetables were specially prepared too, and they'll be a great help in increasing your Soul Power," Ning Fengzhi said gently.
"Thank you, Uncle Ning. Then I'll dig in."
With that, Jun Yi picked up his chopsticks and began wolfing down the food. Sword Douluo had tormented him for an entire morning, and his strength had long since run dry. Right now, he even felt as though he could swallow a Titan Giant Ape.
And he had to admit, the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Sect's food really was something. Every meat and vegetable dish contained pure Soul Power and was definitely more effective than ordinary Soul Beast meat.
As Jun Yi ate, he praised the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Sect's superb cooking, holding nothing back in his compliments.
"Uncle Jian, where's Rongrong? Wasn't she with Jun Yi?" Ning Fengzhi suddenly asked.
"No. The training was for Jun Yi alone. Rongrong didn't need to participate. It's about time now, so she should be here soon."
No sooner had he finished speaking than footsteps sounded in the distance. Wearing a blue dress, Ning Rongrong walked slowly into the room. She glanced over the lavish spread on the table and exclaimed in delight, "Wow, what a feast today! No wonder I heard a pig being slaughtered today-it really was for cooking!"
At her words, the expressions of all four people present turned rather peculiar. Ning Fengzhi, Sword Douluo, and Bone Douluo were all visibly holding back laughter, while Jun Yi looked slightly embarrassed. Were my screams really that miserable? Ning Rongrong actually mistook them for a pig being slaughtered.
"All right, Rongrong, come and eat. After lunch, you still have to study theory with Jun Yi this afternoon."
Hearing this, Ning Rongrong wrinkled her pretty little nose, looking unhappy. "Dad, no! I don't want to study."
Ning Fengzhi gave her a helpless look. "How can you become an outstanding Soul Master without studying?"
Ning Rongrong pouted. "I don't want to study. It's too boring. Every day, it's nothing but memorizing, memorizing, memorizing. It's so dull."
At the mention of studying theory, Jun Yi inwardly rejected the idea as well. He felt that all this miscellaneous theoretical knowledge was not particularly useful to him. He was not going to be a teacher, nor was he some good-for-nothing with only half a rank of Innate Soul Power. There really was no need to study these things.
"Fengzhi, Rongrong has awakened her Martial Soul now, after all, so she can begin cultivating. How about this? I'll teach Rongrong how to cultivate efficiently this afternoon. As for theory, we really can set that aside for now. What do you think?"
Bone Douluo voiced his thoughts.
After considering it, Ning Fengzhi nodded. "Mm, sorry for the trouble, Uncle Gu. Rongrong, you need to cultivate diligently. Your talent isn't as good as Jun Yi's, after all. If you don't work hard, I'm afraid he'll leave you far behind."
"Mm-hmm, I'll cultivate diligently! As for Jun Yi, he may have Innate Full Soul Power, but this young lady is no slouch either. As long as I work hard, won't surpassing him be a piece of cake?"
Ning Rongrong patted her chest and declared haughtily, then turned her gaze toward Jun Yi and said playfully, "You'd better cultivate hard. If I surpass you, you'll have to call me Big Sister Rongrong whenever you see me. Understood?"
"Then I doubt you'll get the chance," Jun Yi replied.
"You..."
"All right, hurry up and eat. The food's getting cold."
Seeing that the two were about to argue again, Ning Fengzhi quickly interrupted and placed a piece of meat in Ning Rongrong's bowl. At this, Ning Rongrong immediately reined in her temper and began eating happily.
That afternoon, Jun Yi and Ning Rongrong followed Bone Douluo to the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Sect's cultivation area.
Bone Douluo turned to the two of them and said, "This is the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Sect's mimicry cultivation area. Now, which of you knows what a Mimicry Cultivation Environment is?"
Ning Rongrong raised her hand and answered, "I know, I know! A Mimicry Cultivation Environment simulates a particular external environment, allowing the corresponding Martial Soul to achieve twice the results with half the effort when cultivating here. In exchange, maintaining a Mimicry Cultivation Environment also requires considerable resources.
"And different Martial Souls need different mimicry environments. That's why only powerful Soul Master Academies or factions build large numbers of varied Mimicry Cultivation Environments. This is also a reflection of their foundations."
