Appearance

  • Has a jade-like complexion, a straight nose, and a square mouth 3.
  • Presents a refined, mild appearance and wears a spotless snow-white robe 3.
  • Later appears in blue-green robes, with a slender figure and a faint smile 530.
  • By his final recorded journey to Spirit City, he is described as approximately 1.8 meters tall, with deep, lake-like eyes and strands of white among his black hair 591.
  • During his later dealings with Tang San and the Star Luo campaign, he appears pale and suffers bouts of coughing 576 584.
  • When revealing the extent of his revenge, his disheveled hair and unrestrained behavior contrast sharply with his usual cultured elegance 475.

Personality

Ning Fengzhi is affectionate toward Rongrong without entirely overlooking her need for discipline. He stops her public quarrel with Jun Yi, insists that studying matters for becoming an outstanding Soul Master, and later arranges an education away from the sect’s pampering 4 11 26. Her future weighs heavily on him: despite her exceptional talent, he fears she will remain constrained by the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Pagoda’s inherited flaw 21.

He combines generosity with political caution. He respects Jun Yi’s decision to postpone obtaining a Soul Ring and asks permission before examining his body 9 21. At the same time, he deliberately avoids pressing Jun Yi for technological secrets or formally recruiting him, judging that goodwill offers greater benefits without jeopardizing relations with the imperial family 14.

His concern for his daughter coexists with a willingness to sacrifice her wishes for political and personal goals. Although distressed by her withdrawn behavior after the break with Jun Yi, he does not regret his earlier decisions. He arranges her betrothal to Tang San despite Bone Douluo’s objections, insisting that she will eventually appreciate Tang San and forget Jun Yi 383 406 407. He later admits that Rongrong’s marriage was a price he was prepared to pay to advance his plans against the Clear Sky Sect 479.

Behind his courteous demeanor, Ning Fengzhi is a patient and highly adaptable manipulator. He cultivates trust through material assistance, reassuring promises, and personal attention, while concealing objectives that can extend over many years. His declared principle is that plans must change with circumstances 379 437 479. His apparent commitment to sect interests is ultimately subordinate to his love for Xu Rong’er: he openly states that even the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Sect means little compared with her 475.

His revenge is exceptionally ruthless. He uses Tang San’s trust, feigns love for Tang Yuehua, and infiltrates the Alliance before personally killing members of the Tang family 477 479 541 574. He embraces the epithet “Madman Ning” rather than treating it as an insult, and expresses little concern about retribution 475 477.

Abilities & Skills

Martial Soul Research

Ning Fengzhi studies the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Pagoda’s limitations and applies his findings to cultivation planning 9.

  • Physique and ring tolerance: Established that a stronger physique permits the absorption of older Soul Rings, then verified the finding through sect disciples 9.
  • Soul Ring assessment: Estimated Jun Yi’s first ring to be nearly nine hundred years old from its deep-yellow color and faint purple tint 21.
  • Unresolved limitation: His extensive research had not produced a solution to the pagoda’s inherited flaw 21.
  • Soul Shock: Explains that absorbing a Ten Thousand Year Soul Ring places substantial strain on the soul, with increasing pain from subsequent rings and the possibility of the soul collapsing. He distinguishes this danger from the physical requirements for absorbing older rings 173.
  • Sacrifice research: Learned from an ancient book that a willing Soul Beast sacrifice could provide a Hundred Thousand Year seventh ring. He considered using this possibility to alter Rongrong’s Martial Soul limitation 79.

Jun Yi’s immortal herbs eventually resolve the limitation for Rongrong by evolving her Martial Soul, rather than through Ning Fengzhi’s research. No corresponding evolution of Ning Fengzhi’s own Martial Soul is established 104 113.

Soul Power Examination

Ning Fengzhi can channel Soul Power into another person to investigate their condition 21.

  • Found no lingering Soul Beast trace in Jun Yi’s first ring, describing it as seemingly condensed from pure power 21.
  • Could not determine the ring’s true origin and tentatively attributed it to Jun Yi’s unusual Martial Soul 21.
  • Later treats Tang San’s injuries and encourages him to explain the circumstances behind them 525.

Soul Tool Operation and Evaluation

Although initially unfamiliar with Jun Yi’s inventions, Ning Fengzhi personally tests their practical capabilities 13 14.

  • Learned to operate a Class One Fixed Soul Cannon and fired it at the volunteering Sword Douluo 13.
  • Tested a defensive barrier with palm strikes and punches, without damaging it 14.
  • Recognized the commercial and strategic value of Soul Tool blueprints and selected disciples with suitable spiritual power to learn production 25.
  • Later possesses a Soul Tool Pistol, which he puts away before killing Tang Xiao and Tang Hao with a dagger 477.
  • Uses defensive Soul Tools as material support for Clear Sky Sect disciples, strengthening his standing within the sect 437.

Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Pagoda

Ning Fengzhi’s Martial Soul provides powerful battlefield amplification. During the raid against Spirit Hall’s troops, he enhances Tang Hao’s attacks and continuously supports Tang Hao, Tang San, and Bone Douluo, raising their speed, strength, and defense 462.

  • Seventh Soul Skill — Martial Soul Avatar: Manifests the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Great Pagoda as an enormous silver silhouette. Its descent envelops an enemy camp and locks down movement, while its light further enhances his allies 462.
  • Simultaneous ring activation: Makes all seven Soul Rings shine to bolster Tang San’s effort to break free from ice 498.

Strategy, Espionage, and Command

Ning Fengzhi’s influence frequently exceeds his personal combat strength. He becomes a principal adviser to the Clear Sky Sect and the practical problem-solver of the Alliance, despite Yu Xiaogang nominally serving as its military adviser 435 457.

  • Long-term infiltration: Uses assistance to Tang San, an alliance with the Clear Sky Sect, and a feigned romance with Tang Yuehua to obtain access and trust while pursuing revenge 479 541 574.
  • Intelligence gathering: Deduces Xue Qinghe’s identity as Qian Renxue from accumulated clues, including Bone Douluo witnessing her meeting a Spirit Hall Titled Douluo 477.
  • Poisoning and deception: Administers poison to an injured Tang San in a bowl of medicinal soup, exploiting Tang San’s continued trust in him 574 575.
  • Military command: Stabilizes the Star Luo front through advice and ambushes, then later uses Star Luo’s military tally to mobilize an army of 800,000 and conquer half the empire within a month 466 584.

History

Early Life and Xu Rong’er

Ning Fengzhi’s relationship with Xu Rong’er begins before his established tenure as sect master. After the sect forcibly brings him home from his travels, he treasures the rust-covered dagger she gave him as a parting gift and spends considerable time sharpening it. His father’s increased surveillance initially prevents him from leaving to see her again 481.

During the earlier war involving the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Sect and the Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon Clan, his sect suffers severe losses and its sect master is killed. Ning Fengzhi succeeds to the position before the age of twenty-five. Xu Rong’er conceals the source of her hidden injuries to avoid adding to his burdens during the rebuilding, confiding in Bibi Dong instead 318.

Ning Fengzhi later reveals that he began planning revenge on the night Xu Rong’er died, seventeen years before his disclosure to the Alliance leaders. Although she never told him the truth, he had already suspected the Clear Sky Sect’s involvement. The later account identifies the Clear Sky Sect’s First and Fourth Elders as having fought her 475.

He also admits that he recognized Tang Hao’s companion as the transformed Hundred Thousand Year Blue Silver Emperor and disclosed her identity to Spirit Hall. He regarded this as either collecting an initial payment for Xu Rong’er’s death or, if his suspicions proved wrong, a means to weaken the Clear Sky Sect while improving his own relationship with Spirit Hall. This contributed to his position as a Spirit Hall honorary elder 475.

Palace Visit and Jun Yi’s Training

Before Jun Yi’s awakening, Ning Fengzhi already knew him through visits from his student, Xue Qinghe. He attended the palace awakening with Rongrong and Sword Douluo, initially assuming that Jun Yi’s fruit-shaped Martial Soul would restrict him to an auxiliary role despite his innate full Soul Power 3 4 5.

After the death of Second Prince Xue Luochuan, Ning Fengzhi brought Jun Yi to the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Sect at Xue Qinghe’s request, citing unrest in the palace and the need to guide the boy’s cultivation. Seeing Jun Yi pack forging tools also made him suspect that the child had personally made Rongrong’s unusual Milk Bottle Soul Tool 6.

At the sect, Jun Yi demonstrated ROOM by moving Ning Fengzhi and both guardian Douluos. Ning Fengzhi immediately identified the potential lethality of an unexpected position swap, questioned its limitations, and correctly proposed that its range would grow with Soul Power. He and the guardians agreed to prioritize Jun Yi’s development 7.

Ning Fengzhi supported a foundation-building period before Jun Yi obtained his first ring. His arrangements included physical training, carefully prepared meals, cultivation resources, and daily medicinal baths 9 11 15.

His later confession reveals a connection predating this mentorship. Sword Douluo had exterminated Jun Yi’s original Gu Clan, and Ning Fengzhi had intervened to prevent the surviving infant from being killed, arguing that the child was innocent. At his suggestion, Sword Douluo instead abandoned the infant in the forest. Ning Fengzhi says he initially intended to groom Jun Yi as the sect’s future successor, but changed his plans after Sword Douluo identified the boy’s origins during his second year at the sect 478.

Soul Tool Partnership

Jun Yi’s offensive and defensive Soul Tools convinced Ning Fengzhi that the technology could alter the continent’s balance of power. He offered payment and extensive material support in exchange for future production; Jun Yi instead agreed to forge for the sect without charge, provided it supplied the materials 13 14.

Ning Fengzhi promised that the sect would back Jun Yi if he ever established his own organization. However, he declined to recruit him formally: Jun Yi’s position as Xue Qinghe’s nominal younger brother made such recruitment politically sensitive, potentially inviting Emperor Xue Ye’s suspicion 14.

He also refused to investigate the source of Jun Yi’s knowledge. With the boy already willing to supply Soul Tools, Ning Fengzhi considered forced questioning an unnecessary risk to their cooperation 14.

The sect subsequently entered a buyer-seller relationship with Spirit Hall involving Soul Tools 70. Bibi Dong later explains that she demanded manufacturing blueprints and finished products from Ning Fengzhi, together with an agreement that the sect would cease manufacturing Soul Tools. Jun Yi interprets the wider arrangement as evidence that Ning Fengzhi had treated him as a bargaining piece 319.

Investigation of Jun Yi’s First Ring

While searching through books and bamboo slips for a remedy to the pagoda’s flaw, Ning Fengzhi was interrupted by Bone Douluo bringing news of Jun Yi’s spontaneously appearing first ring. His examination could not explain it. When Jun Yi reported that the ring granted no Soul Skill, Ning Fengzhi encouraged him to develop his own and promised guidance 21.

Privately, he asked Bone Douluo to confirm that Jun Yi was not a Soul Beast. Even so, he declared that Jun Yi’s Soul Tool expertise would justify protecting him regardless, and entrusted Bone Douluo with his safety within the sect 22.

Establishing Soul Tool Production

During the following six years, Jun Yi voluntarily gave Ning Fengzhi his Level One Soul Tool blueprints and production methods as repayment for the sect’s care. Ning Fengzhi selected disciples with comparatively strong spiritual power to study under him, extending the partnership beyond dependence on Jun Yi’s personal output 25.

Before leaving the sect, Jun Yi also offered to prepare rank-two blueprints for Ning Fengzhi 27.

Ning Fengzhi later forbade all Soul Tool forging within the sect, threatening execution for disobedience. The order followed a conversation in which he questioned whether his actions had been too cruel to Rongrong, while the guardian Douluos reassured him that he had acted for the sect 127. Bibi Dong’s later account connects the manufacturing prohibition to his agreement with Spirit Hall 319.

By the time he recruits Tang San, a Soul Tool workshop and blueprints are again available at the sect, and he personally introduces Tang San to them 379 380. He also persuades Ning Ping’an to return and teach Tang San by invoking the sect’s future, despite the elder’s anger over the break with Jun Yi 417.

Sending Rongrong to Shrek Academy

When Emperor Xue Ye sought to have both children attend Heaven Dou Royal Academy, Ning Fengzhi explained that he had already arranged another school for Rongrong. He presented Shrek Academy’s demanding admission standards as an opportunity for her to surpass Jun Yi 26.

Knowing that Shrek’s harsh living conditions might drive her home, he asked Jun Yi to escort her and help her adjust. He also arranged for Bone Douluo to protect the pair secretly, intervening only if their lives were threatened 27.

His plans did not secure a lasting enrollment: Rongrong later announced that she and Jun Yi would withdraw. Jun Yi nevertheless invoked her position as Ning Fengzhi’s beloved only daughter when challenging Dai Mubai’s claim that she could not represent the sect 50.

After Bone Douluo reported Tang Hao’s presence and the transformed Soul Beast at Shrek, Ning Fengzhi discussed the discovery with the guardians 51. He planned to help conceal the Soul Beast’s identity until Rongrong became a Soul Emperor, then capture it and force a sacrifice to provide her seventh ring, hoping this might change the pagoda’s limitation 79.

Rongrong instead chose to remain at Spirit Hall Academy, and Ning Fengzhi accepted her decision when she told him in Bibi Dong’s presence 61.

He later disclosed that his broader Shrek plan had been to cultivate cooperation between Jun Yi and Tang San, guide Tang San through information about his mother, and use him to locate the secluded Clear Sky Sect. Ning Fengzhi intended to leak that location to Spirit Hall, then approach the weakened sect as an ally and obtain an opportunity for personal revenge 479.

Immortal Herbs and Rongrong’s Evolution

Jun Yi brought Ning Fengzhi the aromatic silk beauty, explaining that it could repair Rongrong’s Martial Soul flaw and allow it to evolve into the Nine Treasure Glazed Tile Pagoda. Ning Fengzhi immediately summoned her home and promised to grant anything within his power if the evolution succeeded. He declined Jun Yi’s offer of additional herbs for himself, saying they would benefit the boy more while he was young 104.

During the same visit, Ning Fengzhi heard how Xue Beng’s attack had led to Jun Yi’s encounter with Dugu Bo. He blamed Xue Xing for directing the attack and promised retaliation. Jun Yi also asked his advice about establishing a force of blacksmiths devoted to Soul Tool production 104.

Ning Fengzhi witnessed Rongrong absorb the aromatic silk beauty and eight-petal immortal orchid. Her Soul Power rose to level 43 as her pagoda evolved from seven tiers to nine. Overcome with emotion, he counted the tiers, bowed deeply to Jun Yi, and called him a benefactor of both Rongrong and the sect 113. He subsequently instructed her to stabilize her Soul Power before obtaining further rings 114.

When Rongrong and Zhu Zhuqing later departed, he gave Zhu Zhuqing a seven-colored glazed jade token to deter interference from her family and thanked her for looking after Rongrong 126 127.

Tournament Sponsorship and the Break with Jun Yi

Ning Fengzhi sponsored an exchange tournament, offering every participating student 500 Gold Soul Coins and a Soul Bone as the first-place prize. Jun Yi recognized the bone as one Rongrong had previously given her father 152.

At a later auction, Jun Yi recognized Soul Tools derived from his blueprints and suspected Ning Fengzhi had made an undisclosed deal with Spirit Hall. The discovery deepened his sense of betrayal and encouraged him to stop relying on other powers 190.

After Jun Yi survived Sword Douluo’s pursuit and severed his arm, Ning Fengzhi closed the sect’s gates. He informed the guardians that Zhu Zhuqing had survived, become a Soul Emperor with two Hundred Thousand Year rings, and returned to Spirit Hall as a provisional elder. He warned that the pursuit had left the sect facing enemies on both fronts and that its cooperation with Spirit Hall might help protect it from retaliation 244.

Ning Fengzhi was not merely an uninformed bystander to the pursuit: he had supplied Sword Douluo with Jun Yi’s location in the Mist Grand Canyon 244. Jun Yi later regarded Sword Douluo’s attack as having erased his debt for the sect’s care 279.

The formal severance came when Ning Fengzhi defended Sword Douluo and asked Bibi Dong to spare Tang San. Jun Yi tore away part of his robe and declared that all ties with Ning Fengzhi and the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Sect were ended 369.

Recruiting Tang San and Arranging Rongrong’s Betrothal

Ning Fengzhi and Sword Douluo approached Tang San during his waterfall training and offered cooperation in Soul Tool research as a means to oppose Spirit Hall. He promised unrestricted freedom to leave and gave Tang San a sect token. Tang Hao supported the arrangement but explicitly asked Ning Fengzhi not to harm his son 379.

Ning Fengzhi subsequently toured the sect with Tang San, introduced him to its workshop, and promised that Sword Douluo would supervise his cultivation. He also offered to invite Tang San’s own teacher if necessary 380 382.

He then promoted a marriage alliance between Tang San and Rongrong. Although Bone Douluo protested that Rongrong did not love Tang San, Ning Fengzhi argued that Tang San’s talent, character, and Clear Sky lineage made him a suitable match and valuable ally 387 406. He reassured Tang Xiao that Tang San had agreed freely and would not be forced to remain 407.

Ning Fengzhi’s later confession identifies the arrangement as part of his revised revenge plan. After the collapse of his relationship with Jun Yi, he intended to use Jun Yi’s reputation within the sect to control Tang San’s position there, accepting Rongrong’s marriage as a cost of the operation 479.

Destruction of the Sect and Entry into the Clear Sky Sect

During the wedding gathering at the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Sect, Ning Fengzhi waited personally for Xue Qinghe and asked whether Jun Yi would attend 414. The gathering was followed by an enemy attack, during which he ordered the disciples to prepare for battle and found the mountain gate devastated 419.

Following the sect’s destruction, he urged Bone Douluo not to seek revenge if the sect were completely lost and begged him to protect Rongrong. Much of the sect’s wealth had already been transferred elsewhere, preserving some resources for a possible revival 426.

Ning Fengzhi acknowledged the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Sect’s failure to help the Clear Sky Sect in the past and offered an alliance to support its return from seclusion. Tang Xiao accepted his assurances despite Tang Lie’s continuing resentment 423. Ning Fengzhi, the two guardians, and Rongrong subsequently took refuge with the Clear Sky Sect, where he advised Tang Xiao on re-entering the Soul Master World 433.

After Jun Yi killed Tang Lie, Ning Fengzhi returned with the corpse and rebuked the elders for provoking an enemy they did not understand. He demanded consultation before future decisions, gaining recognition as one of the sect’s decision-makers 435. His attention to ordinary disciples, including giving each a defensive Soul Tool, further strengthened his prestige 437.

Alliance Leadership and the Star Luo Front

Ning Fengzhi proposed uniting the Clear Sky Sect, Heaven Dou Empire, and Star Luo Empire against Spirit Hall, arguing that shared interests could overcome the two empires’ longstanding hostility 446. Although Yu Xiaogang held the nominal military-adviser role, Alliance members generally turned to Ning Fengzhi when serious problems arose 457.

He secured approval to destroy Spirit Hall’s branches within the empires over Yu Xiaogang’s objections. When every branch proved abandoned, he participated in discussions about an internal mole and proposed overt strategies that Spirit Hall could not evade merely by receiving advance warning 458.

He also personally joined a raid with Tang Hao, Tang San, and Bone Douluo, using his pagoda and Martial Soul Avatar to support the attackers against Spirit Hall’s troops 461 462.

After Spirit Hall killed the Star Luo emperor and empress, Ning Fengzhi encouraged Dai Mubai to take the throne. He helped stabilize the front, lured pursuing Soul Douluos into ambushes, and later proposed a surprise attack against the Papal Palace while Spirit Hall’s forces were deployed elsewhere 466.

Exposure of His Revenge Plot

At a gathering of the allied leaders, Ning Fengzhi arrived late, drank heavily, and offered heartfelt toasts. Jun Yi gave him tea, and Ning Fengzhi praised his growth 473. The gathering then became the occasion for Ning Fengzhi’s revelation that he was the Alliance’s mole, responsible for repeatedly passing information to Spirit Hall 474.

He explained that Xu Rong’er’s death, rather than the conflict with Spirit Hall, had driven his plans for seventeen years. When Tang Hao denounced him for placing one woman above his sect’s blood feud, he openly declared Xu Rong’er more important than the sect and accepted the name “Madman Ning” 475.

Ning Fengzhi personally stabbed Tang Xiao and Tang Hao to death. He then demonstrated that he knew Xue Qinghe was Qian Renxue and told her that Star Luo’s military command token could be obtained from Xue Ke 477.

In his subsequent conversation with Jun Yi, he disclosed his knowledge of the Gu Clan extermination and described the successive revisions to his plans. He admitted that he had considered killing Jun Yi before pursuing revenge, but had failed to anticipate the speed of his growth. He also acknowledged that Spirit Hall’s destruction of the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Sect had been a major miscalculation that deprived him of much of his capital 478 479.

Regency and the Destruction of the Clear Sky Sect

Despite the earlier exposure to other leaders, Tang San continued to trust Ning Fengzhi. Ning Fengzhi helped him escape Jun Yi’s ice and listened to his account of nearing completion of the Asura God Trial 498.

Tang San later installed Ning Fengzhi as Heaven Dou’s regent, promising to assist him in defeating Spirit Hall and reclaiming lost territory 514. Ning Fengzhi continued acting as a supportive elder, treating Tang San’s injuries and hearing his account of Jun Yi, Bibi Dong, and Qian Renxue becoming gods. He considered whether the seven newly descended Divine Realm gods might turn against those three 525.

When Huyan Zhen confronted the Clear Sky Sect, Ning Fengzhi outwardly intervened on its behalf. Spirit Hall’s instructions to Huyan Zhen specifically warned him not to provoke Ning Fengzhi 530.

Ning Fengzhi ultimately stabbed Tang Yuehua in the back while she embraced him, declared that he had never loved her, and revealed his role as the mole and killer of her brothers and the sect elders. He then stabbed her through the heart 541.

With the Clear Sky Sect slaughtered, he gave Huyan Zhen a Xuejun token, ordered him to join Xuejun Pavilion, instructed him to warn the other Lower Four Sects, and demanded the elimination of surviving Clear Sky remnants. Afterward, he sat alone on the bloodstained steps and spoke to the absent Xu Rong’er 541.

He maintained the deception toward Tang San afterward, presenting the massacre as the work of Evil Soul Masters connected to the Spirit Hall Empire and discouraging an immediate, reckless attack 547.

Poisoning Tang San and the Later Star Luo Campaign

When an injured Tang San awoke in his palace, Ning Fengzhi offered him medicinal soup. After Tang San drank it, Ning Fengzhi revealed that it was poisoned and explained that Tang San had been a pawn in his revenge against the Clear Sky Sect from the beginning 574.

He claimed responsibility for the deaths of Tang San’s father, eldest uncle, and aunt, and stated that his apparent protection of Tang San and Xiao Wu had served his infiltration. He also made clear that Tang San’s relationship with Jun Yi had influenced his initial calculations 574.

Tang San died from the poisoning. Ning Fengzhi subsequently reflected that he had risen to prominence young, loved someone worthy of his devotion, built a sect whose wealth rivaled a nation’s, and finally poisoned a God King in his later years 575 576. In the same conversation, he rejected the suggestion that Bibi Dong would kill Rongrong, reasoning that she would not kill Xu Rong’er’s daughter 576.

Ning Fengzhi later entered Star Luo territory with its military tally and ordered General Zhao Jin to assemble the border forces. His army of 800,000 conquered half the empire within a month, prompting Regent Zhu Nuo to prepare a decisive battle on Fengyue Plain 584.

On the anniversary of Xu Rong’er’s death, Bone Douluo escorted him to Spirit City. Ning Fengzhi privately described the journey as coming to meet his death and hoped Jun Yi would fulfill a promise to let him see Xu Rong’er. Bone Douluo regarded their parting as final, but the passage does not itself establish Ning Fengzhi’s death 591.

Encounters in the Past and the Altered Timeline

During Jun Yi and Bibi Dong’s visit to an earlier period, the young Ning Fengzhi was Xu Rong’er’s lover. The young Bibi Dong threatened to destroy his sect if he ever mistreated her, and he promised to care for her wholeheartedly 293.

Jun Yi, then using Tang San’s name, later visited the young Ning Fengzhi at the sect. Ning Fengzhi questioned him about his involvement with a Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon Clan girl and introduced Sword Douluo and Bone Douluo after Jun Yi detected their concealed presence 322.

In a later return to the past, Ning Fengzhi appeared approximately twenty-five or twenty-six years old and still remembered Jun Yi as “Tang San.” He remained composed after Bibi Dong forcibly brought him out to meet the visitors and correctly suspected that Jun Yi and his companions were gods 635.

He overruled the guardians’ distrust and welcomed Jun Yi and his disciple, Li Murong, for a tour of the sect. He explained that he and Xu Rong’er had married three years earlier with Bibi Dong’s acceptance, and that Bibi Dong had taken the pregnant Xu Rong’er to the Papal Palace for protection 636.

After news arrived that Xu Rong’er had delivered a daughter, Jun Yi transported Ning Fengzhi and Li Murong to the Papal Palace. Ning Fengzhi held the newborn and named her Ning Rongrong. Jun Yi recognized the marriage, Xu Rong’er’s survival, and the child’s birth decades earlier than expected as consequences of his previous interference with the past 636.

Relationships

  • Ning Rongrong — His only daughter and the sect’s future successor. He seeks a way to free her from their Martial Soul’s inherited limitation and eventually sends her away for further education 21 25 26 50. He is deeply moved when Jun Yi enables her Martial Soul evolution, but later sacrifices her wishes by arranging her betrothal to Tang San as part of his political and revenge plans 113 406 479. Even after the sect’s destruction, he asks Bone Douluo to preserve her life 426.
  • Xu Rong’er — His wife, Rongrong’s mother, and the central attachment of his life. Her hidden injuries and death drive his seventeen-year revenge against the Clear Sky Sect. He treasures her dagger and ultimately places her above the sect itself 475 481 576. In the altered past, she survives, marries him with Bibi Dong’s support, and gives birth to Ning Rongrong much earlier than in the original course of events 636.
  • Jun Yi — A childhood acquaintance who becomes his cultivation protégé and Soul Tool partner. Jun Yi addresses him as “Uncle Ning” and repays his support by sharing production knowledge 6 25. Their relationship collapses over Ning Fengzhi’s concealed dealings, his involvement in Sword Douluo’s pursuit, and his support for Tang San; Jun Yi formally severs their ties 244 319 369. Ning Fengzhi later confesses his involvement in sparing but abandoning Jun Yi as an infant and admits having contemplated killing him 478 479. Their later conversations retain familiarity despite the damage between them 576.
  • Xue Qinghe / Qian Renxue — His student and an important connection to the Heaven Dou Imperial Family. Qinghe entrusts Jun Yi’s early cultivation to him 3 6. Ning Fengzhi eventually deduces that Qinghe is Qian Renxue and reveals his knowledge after killing Tang Xiao and Tang Hao 477.
  • Sword Douluo / Chen Xin — A sect guardian whom he respectfully calls “Uncle Jian.” Ning Fengzhi entrusts him with Jun Yi’s physical training and consults him on cultivation and Soul Tools 8 10 14. He supplies the location that enables Sword Douluo’s pursuit of Jun Yi and later defends him during the confrontation that prompts Jun Yi’s formal break with the sect 244 369. Sword Douluo supports his decision to betroth Rongrong to Tang San 406.
  • Bone Douluo / Gu Rong — A sect guardian addressed as “Uncle Gu.” He supports Ning Fengzhi’s research efforts and accepts responsibility for protecting Jun Yi and Rongrong 21 22 27. He opposes Rongrong’s betrothal to Tang San and questions whether Ning Fengzhi can truly expect her to forget Jun Yi 406 407. He later escorts Ning Fengzhi to Spirit City for what he believes will be their final farewell 591.
  • Bibi Dong — Xu Rong’er’s close friend and a political partner whose relationship with Ning Fengzhi includes Soul Tool transactions and covert intelligence cooperation 293 319 474. Although Spirit Hall destroys his sect, he continues prioritizing his revenge against the Clear Sky Sect. He later insists that Bibi Dong would spare Rongrong because of Xu Rong’er 475 576.
  • Tang San — Recruited as a Soul Tool research partner and prospective son-in-law under assurances of freedom and protection 379 406. Tang San comes to regard Ning Fengzhi’s care as greater than his own father’s and appoints him Heaven Dou’s regent 514 525. Ning Fengzhi ultimately reveals that this care served his revenge scheme and poisons him to death 574 575.
  • Tang Hao and Tang Xiao — Ostensible allies whose trust allows Ning Fengzhi to enter the Clear Sky Sect’s leadership. He personally kills both as part of his revenge 423 435 477.
  • Tang Yuehua — Believes herself to be his lover. Ning Fengzhi feigns affection to secure the Clear Sky Sect’s complete trust, then kills her while revealing that he never loved her 479 541.
  • Ning Ping’an — A former sect elder who disapproves of Ning Fengzhi’s treatment of Jun Yi. Ning Fengzhi persuades him to return temporarily to train Tang San by appealing to the sect’s future 417.
  • Dai Mubai — An Alliance partner whom Ning Fengzhi helps establish as Star Luo emperor after the deaths of his parents. Ning Fengzhi assists him in stabilizing the military situation before later turning Star Luo’s military tally toward his own campaign 466 584.
  • Huyan Zhen — Receives Ning Fengzhi’s orders after the Clear Sky Sect’s destruction, including instructions to join Xuejun Pavilion and eliminate the sect’s remaining fugitives 541.
