Childhood in the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Sect

Ning Rongrong grows up as the daughter of Sect Master Ning Fengzhi. Dissatisfied with his sons as prospective successors, Ning Fengzhi places his hopes for the sect’s next leader on her. Her level-nine innate Soul Power subsequently earns her increased indulgence from her father, Sword Douluo, and Bone Douluo 4 8 12.

Gu Yang is an exception to that indulgence. Before his Martial Soul Awakening, he has already disciplined her twice; when she complains, Ning Fengzhi quietly suppresses the matter. She later witnesses Gu Yang’s awakening and is instructed by her father to learn from his talent and temperament 1 2 3.

Attachment to Gu Yang

Despite Gu Yang’s impatience with her, Rongrong repeatedly seeks his company. On his eighth birthday, she gives him calcium supplements bought from the Breaking Clan, reasoning that they should benefit his bone Martial Soul, and brings him to dinner with her father 10.

Ning Fengzhi hopes to bring the two together, but Gu Yang rejects the suggestion that they are suitable. Ning Fengzhi then acknowledges that Rongrong’s temper makes her unready to lead the sect. He plans to send her to Shrek Academy both to prepare her for succession and to address the disposition he believes Gu Yang dislikes 11 12.

Rongrong becomes interested in Shrek after hearing her father discuss its policy of accepting only “monsters.” When she tries to interrupt Gu Yang’s cultivation and invite him to Heaven Dou City, however, he announces that he has reached level forty and leaves to prepare for his fourth Soul Ring instead 14.

Journey to Shrek Academy

When Rongrong reaches the age for an intermediate academy, Ning Fengzhi asks Gu Yang to accompany her, fearing that she will refuse to attend without him. Gu Yang reluctantly accepts the arrangement in exchange for the sect’s assistance with his own cultivation needs 21 22 27.

Rongrong believes she has discovered Shrek through unnoticed eavesdropping and secretly escaped the sect with Gu Yang. In reality, Ning Fengzhi has arranged their departure, and Gu Yang detects at least twenty Soul Masters following them. Unaware of this protection, she criticizes the sect’s apparently weak defenses and declares that she will strengthen them after returning 27.

After three days of travel, they reach Suotuo City and head directly to Shrek. Rather than being disappointed by its dilapidated entrance, Rongrong becomes more curious 27.

Enrollment and Decision to Stay

Flender publicly identifies Rongrong and Gu Yang as Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Sect prodigies to justify their exemption from preliminary testing and advertise the academy. Rongrong enjoys the attention, but becomes angry when Gu Yang openly admires Xiao Wu and Zhu Zhuqing; Zhu Zhuqing notices her hostility without understanding its cause 28.

Rongrong participates in Zhao Wuji’s final trial alongside Tang San, Xiao Wu, and Zhu Zhuqing. They fail to last the required time, but Zhao Wuji admits them anyway. Rongrong is the only member of the four left uninjured 29.

When Gu Yang requests extended leave, Rongrong insists on leaving with him. Flender refuses unless she can defeat Zhao Wuji, eventually allowing her to pursue that goal with teammates. Her attempt to intimidate him with her sect background fails 29 31.

Gu Yang persuades her to remain by asking her to become a capable support Soul Master who can stand behind him in battle. He gives her a finger-bone fragment through which she can summon him, but warns that he expects progress when he returns. Reassured, she stays at Shrek and declares that she will eventually catch up with him 31.

Rongrong has chestnut-colored hair, a cute face, and dimples that appear when she smiles 10 27 28.

Personality

Rongrong is playful, proud, and accustomed to preferential treatment. She frequently interrupts Gu Yang’s cultivation to seek entertainment, and initially dismisses the need to train urgently because her Martial Soul limits her eventual level. Ning Fengzhi admits that the family’s indulgence has harmed both her disposition and cultivation 11 12 14.

Her attachment to Gu Yang combines persistence, jealousy, and genuine attentiveness. She remembers his birthday and chooses a present connected to his Martial Soul, but also resents his interest in other girls. Although she challenges Flender’s authority, she responds readily to Gu Yang’s firm expectations and reassurance 10 28 31.

Her supposed secret departure also reveals her inexperience outside the sect: she mistakes an arranged, heavily guarded journey for a successful escape 27.

Rongrong possesses the sect’s hereditary Auxiliary System Martial Soul, which Gu Yang describes as an excellent support Martial Soul 11 31.
