Background / History
Birth and Previous Life
Nan Zhuliu is a transmigrator who was an orphan in his previous life and retains knowledge of the original story. In his current life, his parents, Nan Zhou and Jiang Jingyan, are five-ring Soul Kings employed as guards for a merchant association president 1 7 13.
According to his parents, Jiang Jingyan ate an unidentified spirit fruit while pregnant. Her lightning-attribute dragon Martial Soul evolved, but she went into premature labor, and Nan Zhuliu was born with horns and golden scales. These features gave him an unusually powerful physique well before his Martial Soul awakening 1.
The Golden Cocoon
Recurring dreams brought Nan Zhuliu before a vast golden cocoon. During his awakening ceremony, its occupant questioned why a human carried its bloodline. When he later entered that space through meditation, he concealed his humanity by claiming to be a hundred-thousand-year Thunder Dragon possessing a human child 1 2.
The being identified itself as the Golden Dragon King. It asked him to seek information about the Silver Dragon King from Di Tian, but accepted that his current strength made the task unsafe. Its subsequent gift awakened his bloodline, and later conversations provided valuable cultivation guidance. Nan Zhuliu nevertheless remained cautious, unsure whether the imprisoned king could kill him across realms 3 6.
Star Dou Great Forest Ambush
After obtaining his third Soul Ring, Nan Zhuliu declined the Cang Thunder Beast’s leg bone, preferring to leave it to his parents rather than settle for a ten-thousand-year bone himself. While leaving the forest, the family encountered a six-person team that had found another Soul Bone and intended to kill them to conceal it 8.
Nan Zhuliu killed a female Soul King with one strike, then faced increasingly concentrated attacks. He separated from his parents and drew four pursuers into dense woodland, where the terrain prevented them from supporting one another effectively. After killing two Soul Kings, he used his newly refined Dragon Transformation to finish the two Soul Emperors, ending the battle badly wounded and almost depleted of Soul Power and spiritual power 9 10 11.
He recovered the attackers’ storage tools and their ten-thousand-year Soul Bone, later giving the bone to his father 12 17.
Meeting Huo Lingtong
While he recovered, Huo Lingtong approached and bandaged his wounds with strips torn from her clothing. Learning her name and Spirit Eyes Martial Soul, Nan Zhuliu recognized her as this era’s counterpart to Huo Yuhao and offered to help her obtain a Soul Ring 12 13.
He remained conscious during Skydream Iceworm’s Spiritual Shock but pretended to be unconscious. During Huo Lingtong’s fusion with Skydream, Electrolux’s remnant soul entered Nan Zhuliu’s Sea of Spirit 14.
Nan Zhuliu subsequently advised Huo Lingtong about the Body Sect, improved her meditation method, and traveled with her to Shrek City. His assistance combined gratitude for her kindness with a deliberate intention to keep her outside the Tang Sect and prepare for changes to the story he knew 15 16.
Shrek Academy
Nan Zhuliu used Wang Yan’s interest in unusual Martial Souls to arrange an assessment of Huo Lingtong’s Spirit Eyes, leading to her admission. He also financed her immediate needs and helped establish her grilled-fish business, allowing her to earn living expenses without abandoning cultivation 18 19 20 22.
At the academy, he became Wang Dong’s roommate and joined First-Year Class Nine. After defending Huo Lingtong during a confrontation at her stall, he defeated Xu Sanshi in a wagered duel. Mu Jin later appointed him class monitor 21 23 25 29.
When Ma Xiaotao approached Sea God Lake in an evil-fire frenzy, Nan Zhuliu repelled the six-ring Soul Emperor with a single attack. Inner court teachers gave the three freshmen present Soul Ascension Pills and threatened expulsion if they discussed the incident 28 29.
He later conducted a confidential transaction with Ning Tian. With her guarantee, he sold his last teammate slot for another one hundred thousand gold soul coins 30.
Appearance
Nan Zhuliu’s draconic features are present from birth rather than appearing only when he activates his Martial Soul 1.
- Horns: Two brilliant golden, blade-shaped horns 1.
- Hair: Short black hair with several golden strands 1.
- Scales: Diamond-shaped golden scales on his cheeks and forearms; Martial Soul possession makes his arm scales thicker and more extensive 1.
- Eyes: Normally black, with an uncanny golden sheen appearing during battle 10.
- Bearing: Described as exceptionally handsome, cool, and aloof; his awakened bloodline gives him an intimidating, beastlike presence 4 25.
Personality
Nan Zhuliu is pragmatic, guarded, and strongly concerned with survival. His stated principle is to betray the world rather than allow it to betray him, an attitude carried over from his previous life as an orphan. He bluffs when outmatched, weighs his words around the Golden Dragon King, and uses terrain rather than relying solely on superior strength 2 6 7 11.
His ambition shapes his cultivation choices. He favors versatile enhancement skills over early offensive skills with limited growth, refuses an ordinary ten-thousand-year Soul Bone, and aims for a full set of hundred-thousand-year bones. Despite delighting in praise for Dragon Transformation, he prioritizes cultivation over forcing refinements beyond his current understanding 5 7 8.
He is affectionate toward his parents and protective of Huo Lingtong, but his generosity is not entirely disinterested. He repays kindness with practical support while privately considering the benefits of Huo Lingtong’s loyalty and the opportunities he expects to claim himself 8 15 17 23 28.
Against enemies who intend to kill him, he is ruthless. He rejects the ambushers’ pleas for mercy and displays pronounced bloodlust during the final stages of their battle, only calming after their deaths 11 12.
Abilities & Skills
Prison-Subduing Dragon
His mutated Martial Soul combines powerful physical attributes, lightning, and an innate spear 1.
- Physical power: Before awakening, his six-year-old physique already matched or surpassed some one- and two-ring Soul Masters 1.
- Lightning manipulation: Uses lightning for destructive attacks, rapid movement, and practical tasks such as stunning fish 9 10 16.
- Bloodline suppression: Intimidates Soul Beasts and suppresses Beast Martial Souls, including Bei Bei’s Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon and Xu Sanshi’s Black Tortoise 6 10 14 25.
Golden Dragon King Bloodline
Nan Zhuliu possesses only part of the Golden Dragon King’s bloodline, but its enhancement underpins much of his exceptional strength 3.
- Golden Dragon Claw: Transforms his hand into a powerful golden claw. Initially, it inherits strength rather than the distinctive crushing property associated with Tang Wulin’s version 3.
- Activation requirement: His claw requires Prison-Subduing Dragon possession, but consumes little enough energy to remain active for a considerable time even at rank ten 3.
- Golden Dragon Body: Greatly enhances strength, attack, speed, and defense, manifesting with a peculiar golden ring of light 9.
- Self-repair: Allows him to recover from his forest battle wounds within a few days; exhaustion of Soul Power and spiritual power is the greater immediate problem 13.
- Continuing improvement: Golden-red power enters his bloodline during cultivation. He later suspects the Golden Dragon King is supplying it, but this source is not confirmed 6 7.
Golden Dragon Rampage
His first Soul Skill comes from a thousand-year Thunder Tiger 5.
- Places him in a berserk state and increases all attributes and lightning power by 100% 5.
- Remains active until he cancels it or exhausts his Soul Power 5.
Golden Dragon Fierce Battle
His second Soul Skill is an enhancement-type utility skill; the source beast is not identified in the provided account 9.
- Complements Golden Dragon Rampage in his full-power combat setup 9.
- Their combined effects include immunity to various negative effects 9.
Annihilation
His third Soul Skill, acquired from a roughly fifteen-thousand-year Cang Thunder Beast, unfolds a Lightning Domain 7 9.
- Converts energy within its range into lightning particles 9.
- Makes subsequent attacks stronger as the concentration of lightning particles increases 9.
- Lets him absorb those particles to restore Soul Power, spiritual power, vitality, and his overall condition 9 10.
- Initially costs approximately one-third of his Soul Power to activate. Its recovery effect slows depletion but does not necessarily offset his total expenditure 11.
Dragon Transformation — Self-Created Technique
Created after three months of deep meditation at age eight, this technique integrates his understanding of his Martial Soul, Soul Power, spiritual power, and blood power 7 11.
- Initial form: Imbues ordinary movements with the intent of a dragon’s claws, bites, and tail strikes 7 10 11.
- Refined form: Combines with Annihilation to condense connected lightning particles into a tangible Prison-Subduing Dragon 11.
- Further development: He experiments with incorporating Heaven-Tearing Claw, but remains dissatisfied with the results 21.
- Assessment: The Golden Dragon King considers its potential tremendous while emphasizing that its early form remains incomplete 7.
Heaven-Tearing Claw
Granted by the Darkgolden Terrorclaw Bear External Palm Bone fused into his left hand, this skill releases a dark-golden claw projection 17 21.
- Requires Martial Soul possession and manifestation of his Golden Dragon Claw before the bone responds 17.
- A tested strike consumes nearly one-third of his Soul Power, reaches approximately one hundred meters, and is powerful enough to tear apart a Soul King 17.
- Additional Soul Power can increase its power and range 17.
Pseudo-Spiritual Immunity
His dragon bloodline provides resistance to spiritual attacks 29.
- He remains conscious under Skydream Iceworm’s large-area Spiritual Shock 14.
- Huo Lingtong’s spiritual attacks have no effect on him during testing 29.
- The ability is described as pseudo-spiritual immunity, not established immunity to every spiritual attack 29.
Spiritual Travel and Cultivation
By visualizing the golden cocoon during meditation, Nan Zhuliu can enter the God-Forsaken Land as a spiritual body 6.
- Uses these visits to receive occasional guidance from the Golden Dragon King 6.
- Cannot sense the Divine Realm’s Immortal Spiritual Energy there, preventing his proposed method of harvesting it 6.
- Develops a highly effective meditation circulation route and successfully teaches useful modifications to Huo Lingtong 15.
Equipment / Weapons / Items
- Prison-Subduing Dragon Spear — Innate companion weapon, rather than a separate Martial Soul. Lightning coils around its shaft, and it can withdraw into his bloodline 1.
- Darkgolden Terrorclaw Bear External Palm Bone — Fused into his left hand; strengthens him physically and grants Heaven-Tearing Claw 17 21.
- Storage Soul Tools — Retrieves several from the slain ambushers and lends Huo Lingtong a storage ring during their journey 12 16.

- Jiang Jingyan — Mother, a Thunder Dragon Soul Master. Helps hunt his rings and guards him during absorption; receives the Cang Thunder Beast leg bone he declines 5 7 8 17.

- Mu Jin — Class Nine teacher who uses his horns as an example in a Martial Soul mutation lesson and appoints him class monitor 25 29.
- Xu Sanshi — Initially an opponent after the fish-stall confrontation. Following defeat, Xu Sanshi apologizes and chooses to improve their relationship 23 25 26.
- Electrolux — Remnant soul residing in Nan Zhuliu’s Sea of Spirit; no further interaction is documented here 14.
- Ning Tian — Classmate and confidential business contact. Her guarantee helps him sell his remaining teammate slot 25 30.
