Previous Life and Recovery

Charmander was Lin Mo’s starter partner in the Pokémon world. Before they could begin their journey, both were caught in the fallout of a clash between Dialga and Palkia and torn apart by spatial and temporal turbulence 1.

At Lin Mo’s martial soul awakening on Douluo Continent, Charmander reappeared as a Pokémon Egg. Lin Mo’s private panel identified it and revealed the hatching requirement. Although Su Yuntao regarded the egg as apparently useless, Lin Mo recognized it as the recovery of his lost companion 2 3.

Charmander hatched on Nuoding Academy’s secluded back hill when Lin Mo reached level ten. After briefly examining its surroundings, it recognized him, approached his outstretched hand, and returned his emotional embrace. Lin Mo concluded that Douluo’s rules had transformed his former partner into his Martial Soul 10 11.

Nuoding Academy

Lin Mo introduced Charmander to Dorm Seven as a rare external beast Martial Soul, while concealing Entei and its extensive skill repertoire. Tang San’s disclosure of the hatching subsequently drew Yu Xiaogang and Headmaster Wang Zongchang’s attention 13 14.

During a spar with Tang San, Charmander burned through Blue Silver Grass with Ember, then used Smokescreen to obstruct Tang San’s attempt to reach Lin Mo. It remained unaffected by its own smoke and attacked through the opening 17 18.

Wang Zongchang later helped Lin Mo obtain his first Soul Ring. After the headmaster severely wounded a Torkoal, Charmander finished it with a concealed Metal Claw attack and swallowed the resulting yellow Soul Ring. Charmander and Lin Mo refined its power together 23.

Over the following months, Lin Mo and Charmander won their student spars, including matches against Xiao Wu, and occasionally defeated Soul Grandmaster teachers. These performances used only a restricted portion of Charmander’s abilities 34.

Heaven Dou City

On the journey to Heaven Dou City, Charmander protected Lin Mo’s merchant caravan, resolving several disturbances with fire before the guards needed to act. At Heaven Dou Intermediate Soul Master Academy, it defeated Xiao Lin during Lin Mo’s entrance assessment; Director Xue intervened to shield Xiao Lin from further attacks 37 40.

While Lin Mo studied medicine at the Ye Family Medical Hall, Charmander cultivated in the quiet backyard and began accepting food from Ye Lingling. Its unusual tolerance of her helped draw Lin Mo’s attention to her interest in his companion 47 48.

In a later spar, Charmander tested its improved flame control against Xiao Lin. Its newly developed Fire Spin trapped him, restricted his movement, and rapidly depleted his Soul Power, prompting Lin Mo to prepare to stop the fight 50.

Personality

Charmander is deeply affectionate toward Lin Mo. It comforts him during their reunion, nuzzles his hand, and responds readily to his reassurance. It is also a vigilant guardian, watching their surroundings in dangerous areas and keeping others away while Lin Mo cultivates privately 11 22 36 49.

It dislikes unsolicited contact from strangers. Xiao Wu’s attempt to pet it earns a restrained burst of warning fire, while Ye Linyuan’s examination provokes growls and further resistance. Ye Lingling is an exception: Charmander accepts her approach and dried meat without hostility, though it is not initially affectionate toward her 13 44 47.

Charmander shows enthusiasm for combat and enjoys quiet companionship, sometimes dozing beside Lin Mo in the library. It strongly prefers meat to vegetables or fruit 30 32 47 50.
