Background / History
Ming was named by Linden after being born as a Mushroom Descendant. His creation followed the sacrifice and rebirth of Galen, whose exceptionally high resistances gave Ming an unusual innate advantage: the unranked trait [Physical Immunity]. Unlike most newborn Mushroom Descendants, who received ordinary resistance skills, Ming was considered too valuable to mass-produce or easily replicate. 367 368
He had approximately half a month of childhood, would enter a juvenile form afterward, and was expected to become a full adult within a year. Though convention called for young Mushroom Descendants to be closely protected, Ming's Physical Immunity allowed him to receive combat training early. 368
Marshal Puji trained Ming against a LV12 Rolling Beetle in a prepared pit. After initially being overwhelmed by the larger creature, Ming followed instructions to tear off its legs one by one, securing victory and advancing from LV4 to LV5. 368
As the first Mushroom Descendant, Ming received particular attention from Linden and was taken for individual training. Other Mushroom Descendants regarded this either as recognition of their race's first loyal member or as a response to Ming's exceptional potential. 579
Personality
Ming is affectionate and naturally trusting toward those connected to the mycelium. As a newborn, he felt close to Mushroom Descendants, captives, and especially Puji; he would sit against Marshal Puji while eating and eagerly sought the latter's praise after training. 368
He is earnest but self-conscious about his shortcomings. Despite reaching LV36 in less than a year, Ming became dejected over his inability to control Jida or command large groups of Puji with precision. 579
Ming is curious rather than disturbed by the Mycelium Network's assimilation of living creatures, contrasting with Norris's unease. 581 In battle, he fears disappointing Linden, but persists through injuries and exhaustion against stronger opponents. 689
Abilities & Skills
Physical Immunity
Ming was born with the innate, unranked trait [Physical Immunity], inherited through the exceptional resistance of the sacrifice used in his birth ritual. 367 368
- A LV12 Rolling Beetle could pin and strike him but could not injure him with its legs or horn. 368
- His immunity made intensive childhood protection unnecessary. 368
- He can withstand sustained enemy attacks that would overwhelm ordinary soldiers. 689
- It does not prevent exhaustion, magic-power depletion, or being knocked back by powerful attacks. 689
Resistance and Regeneration
Ming possesses exceptionally high resistances and regenerative ability, allowing him to endure Renard's attacks during a large-scale battle. 689
- Survived being surrounded and repeatedly attacked by enemy forces. 689
- Withstood Renard's charge on a War Beast and his Blood Crystal Needle attack. 689
- His durability has limits; prolonged combat drained his magic power and left him injured. 689
Puji Control
Ming can control Puji through the Mycelium Network, though he lacks the aptitude for complex Jida command. 579
- Can control up to twenty-three Puji simultaneously. 579
- Cannot issue separate, detailed commands to multiple Puji at the same time. 579
- Fights primarily with his own body rather than through Jida formations. 579
Underwater Adaptation
Ming was granted [Underwater Adaptation LV7] for reconnaissance in the underwater dungeon. 579
- Operated alongside Norris, a Murloc guide, Jida Naval Combat Version, and an Oxygen-Supplying Puji. 579
- Still required regular oxygen replenishment despite the adaptation skill. 579
- Was assigned with Norris to capture seafood monsters for mycelium parasitism. 578
Relationships
- Linden — Creator and superior whom Ming calls “Boss.” Linden named him, recognized his potential, and arranged his individual training. 368 579
- Marshal Puji — Trainer and close companion; instructed Ming during his Rolling Beetle fight and received his affection afterward. 368
- Norris — Referred to by Ming as “Big Brother Norris”; partnered with him during underwater reconnaissance and later faced consequences alongside him for disobeying orders. 579 581 691
- Jida — Served with Ming and Norris during the underwater operation; Ming lacks the talent to control it effectively. 579
- Renard — Enemy general whom Ming fought in a fierce battle before capturing him. 689
- Louisa — Scolded Ming and Norris after their disobedience disrupted the delaying plan. 691
Story Role / Major Arcs
Birth and Early Training
Ming was born as the first Mushroom Descendant and quickly established himself as an exceptional child due to Physical Immunity. His victory over the LV12 Rolling Beetle marked his first documented level increase. 368
Underwater Reconnaissance
Ming joined Norris's small reconnaissance team in the Tidal Sanctuary. The pair initially struggled to adapt to the underwater environment, then fought Seafood Monsters, escorted an injured Murloc guide, and delivered a captured monster to the Rift for assimilation into a mushroom Puppet. Ming watched the process with fascination. 577 579 581
War Against the Empire
During the conflict with the Empire, Ming rampaged through the enemy's rear and disrupted its formation, creating an opening for Puji forces. He endured Renard's attacks long enough to intercept and capture the general before Jida could fire. 689
Ming and Norris later disobeyed orders, causing a setback to the Fungal Fortress's delaying plan. Louisa reprimanded them, and Ming learned that good intentions did not erase the consequences of acting without orders. 691
Ultimate Taste Mushroom Tasting
When the core members gathered to taste Linden's Ultimate Taste Mushrooms, Ming showed greater bravery than Norris, who worried about the possible consequences and his reputation. 728
Southward Campaign
Ming advanced with Norris and the First Fungal Legion toward Twilight Castle. Norris remained concerned for Ming's well-being, while Ming showed no discomfort around the mushroom Puppets used to infiltrate Wind-Breath Pass. 854
