Background / History

Childhood and public welfare

The Heavenly Screen depicts Qian Xunji as a child determined to end the continent’s poverty and warfare. After awakening the Six-Winged Angel, he tells Qian Daoliu that he wants Spirit Hall to become strong enough to improve life for both commoners and Soul Masters 3.

Spirit Hall’s free Martial Soul awakenings and subsidies for common-born Soul Masters were introduced at his suggestion. These policies helped inspire Yue Guan and Gui Mei to serve him, beyond the cultivation resources Spirit Hall offered them 4.

The epidemic and Ah Yin

At fifteen, Qian Xunji encounters a blue-haired girl who rescues a commoner from a spotted leopard. She rejects his invitation to accompany him into the Soul Beast forest. After obtaining his fifth Soul Ring, he finds her again among the healers in a plague-stricken town and learns that her name is Ah Yin 3 4 5.

Rather than leave to avoid infection, he requisitions medical personnel and supplies from Spirit Hall, takes control from the inactive mayor, and separates residents according to infection severity. He traces the outbreak to deliberately contaminated water and orders an investigation into possible Fallen Soul Master involvement 5 6.

He and Ah Yin grow close while treating the townspeople. Once the epidemic ends, he teaches her to dance at the celebration and gives her a jade ring. She nevertheless refuses to leave with him, and they part 6 7.

Martial Soul research

Back in Spirit City, Qian Xunji devotes himself to cultivation and ancient texts. He writes the Martial Soul Limit Absorption Table and General Outline of Martial Soul Mimicry, then asks Qian Daoliu to make both available through Spirit Hall’s subordinate and branch halls 8.

The revelation challenges Yu Xiaogang’s reputation: Tang San and the Shrek students recognize the works as theories attributed to him. Yu Xiaogang accuses Qian Xunji of plagiarism and angrily opposes their public distribution 8.

Ah Rou and the beast tide

During Spirit Hall’s Angel Unicorn hunt, a hundred-thousand-year Soft Bone Rabbit intervenes and summons a heavenly tribulation. The resulting disturbance triggers a beast tide, separating Qian Xunji from his guards 9 10.

While hiding underwater, he discovers the rabbit’s newly transformed human form. Unaware of her Soul Beast identity, he brings her ashore, shelters her, and promises to guide her out of the forest. She introduces herself as Ah Rou 11 12.

Their escape leads through a Long-Armed Wind Ape ambush and into a misty marsh. Qian Xunji kills a Bewildering Barrier Nether Python, but the pink mist released from its corpse overwhelms both of them, leading to an intimate encounter. Ah Rou leaves afterward; Qian Xunji follows long enough to ensure her safety before returning to Spirit Hall 13 14 15.

The screen later shows Ah Rou nursing Xiao Wu, revealing Qian Xunji as Xiao Wu’s father 19 20.

Papacy and Ah Yin’s confinement

After becoming Pope, Qian Xunji continues searching for Ah Rou and Ah Yin. Ah Yin, now traveling with Tang Hao and Tang Xiao, refuses his summons after learning his identity. He accepts her refusal to meet but orders his subordinates to monitor the three travelers 16 17.

Over the following four years, Spirit Hall flourishes under his administration. He establishes Soul Master Academies across the continent and recruits common-born Soul Masters for training 21.

When Ah Yin is exposed as a transformed hundred-thousand-year Soul Beast and hunted, he intervenes after Spirit Eagle Douluo defeats Tang Hao. Claiming her for Spirit Hall, he compensates the pursuers, offers Spirit Eagle Douluo membership, and arranges Tang Hao’s return to the Clear Sky Sect 21 22.

Qian Xunji places Ah Yin in a guarded residence. Although he tells Qian Daoliu that he is reserving her Soul Ring for his eventual Titled Douluo breakthrough, he does not kill her. He instead seals her Soul Power, initiates an intimate encounter, and promises that she will not be harmed in Spirit City 23.

Rescuing and naming Bibi Dong

Returning from the Holy Light Spirit Deer hunt, Qian Xunji discovers a burning village where black-robed Soul Masters are conducting a blood ritual around a young girl. He rescues her and brings her to Spirit Hall, where the elders confirm her twin Martial Souls and innate full Soul Power 24 25.

At Qian Daoliu’s suggestion, he takes responsibility for her instruction, names her Bibi Dong, and appoints her Spirit Hall’s Holy Maiden. Spirit City holds a three-day celebration. During the festivities, he takes Ah Yin into the streets and has Gui Mei purchase food for her 25.

Encirclement and Lin Mo’s arrival

By the present, Qian Xunji is blamed for wars, sect massacres, and attempts to unify the continent. Bibi Dong, described as his disciple and lover in this parallel world, turns against him after suffering abuse in a secret chamber. Her sneak attack injures him and sharply reduces his fighting strength, allowing his enemies to surround him 1 3 5.

Lin Mo transmigrates into Qian Xunji at this moment and inherits his memories. Before Tang San’s coalition attacks, the Heavenly Screen appears. Lin Mo discovers that he can control it; after publicly executing Zhao Changhai, it names Qian Xunji as its next subject and begins displaying his past 1 2 3.

Personality

The younger Qian Xunji shown on the screen is idealistic, compassionate, and unusually disciplined. He risks exposure to plague to aid commoners, shares research rather than hoarding it, and cultivates intensively despite his privileged access to resources. He treats strength as a requirement for achieving continental peace rather than an accomplishment in itself 3 4 5 8.

As Pope, he rewards loyal service and recognizes the cultivation time his attendants sacrifice for their duties. His conduct toward Ah Yin also shows possessiveness: he orders surveillance after her refusal, later confines her, and seals her Soul Power. His abuse of Bibi Dong and the wars attributed to him stand in contrast to the benevolent ambitions of his childhood 1 3 17 20 23.
