The Low-Key Elder Wang
Zhang Yu and Zi Yan exchanged a glance on the platform, each seeing profound horror in the other's eyes.
Zi Yan in particular had a strange gleam in her beautiful eyes. Her lips parted slightly as she murmured, "Where exactly is his limit?"
"Miss Zi Yan!" Zhang Yu suddenly called.
Zi Yan came back to her senses, looked at Zhang Yu, and asked, "What is it?"
"Have you noticed that old man over there?" Zhang Yu pointed toward Elder Wang.
Hearing this, Zi Yan turned to look. Elder Wang sat cross-legged like an old monk, utterly motionless, seemingly indifferent to the battle above the arena. Yet he exuded an incomparably terrifying presence, as though he had become a ferocious beast, giving off a sense of extreme danger.
"Yes!" Zi Yan nodded. After she spoke, an old woman behind her swept her divine sense toward Elder Wang.
The moment her divine sense touched Elder Wang, she shuddered all over. Her face turned deathly pale, and her body trembled. Fear filled her eyes as she hastily withdrew her divine sense.
"What happened, Granny Long?" Zi Yan asked.
"That old man is terrifying. When that strand of divine sense entered his body, it was like a clay ox entering the sea. It was annihilated in an instant," Granny Long said, her heart still pounding with fear.
"What? But you're a sixth heaven Quasi-Emperor expert!" Zi Yan said in shock.
"Hmph! A mere sixth heaven Quasi-Emperor dares to pry into me?" Elder Wang snorted coldly.
Pfft! Granny Long spat blood, her entire being wilting.
Her eyes filled with terror, and she involuntarily stumbled
back several steps, putting distance between herself and Elder Wang. "P-P-Peak Quasi-Emperor!" Granny Long said shakily as she looked at him.
Zi Yan was greatly alarmed and hurriedly helped Granny Long up. "Senior, please quell your anger. Granny Long had absolutely no intention of offending you. Please show mercy!"
Elder Wang snorted coldly. "If I didn't wish to avoid causing trouble for the young master, I would certainly take the life of the person behind you!"
With that, he closed his eyes to rest once more.
Zi Yan took a deep breath, calming the shock within her. No wonder this young man charged in here killing without fear! He has a mighty Quasi-Emperor protecting his path.
It seems that unless a Great Emperor appears this time, no one can do anything to him! To have a peak Quasi-Emperor as his protector, he's very likely someone from a forbidden zone, and a direct-bloodline disciple at that, Zi Yan sighed inwardly. Otherwise, how would that old man dare to attack Granny Long...
Phew... thank goodness I didn't act rashly. If I'd left a bad impression at our very first meeting, wouldn't the sect master skin me alive when I returned to the Sword Sect?
At this thought, Zhang Yu let out a long breath, his anxious heart settling as he studied the young man again.
Back on the battlefield...
"Ah! I was looking forward to this, but it turned out to be all thunder and little rain. Sorry, then. It's my turn to attack." Di Chen
held his sword in his right hand and spread his left palm, facing it toward the sky. In an instant, the winds and clouds of heaven and earth shifted. A vast, majestic, domineering, and supremely sharp presence erupted from his body and surged into the sky.
The longsword in his hand blazed with dazzling radiance. Wherever its edge passed, it actually tore the void apart. A streak of sword light slashed viciously toward the three protectors.
This was an attack of the utmost simplicity and brutality. There were no fancy techniques. It simply broke force with force.
The sword tip sliced through the air, its piercing sonic boom resounding in every direction. The space for hundreds of zhang around twisted ceaselessly. This was because its speed had reached a certain level.
"You three old dogs can't even force me to use the second form of my sword technique, yet you dare call yourselves protectors? What utter trash."
All three sensed the terrifying destructive presence contained within that Sword Qi. Their expressions changed drastically as they hurriedly retreated.
Unfortunately, it was already too late.
Wherever the sword edge passed, the void twisted ceaselessly, and ripples spread outward. Sword Qi swept unchecked, surging fiercely.
The three tried to resist, only to discover that their bodies
were unbearably stiff, unable to move at all. They knew that a terrifying, suffocating oppressive force had enveloped their entire bodies. Once this sword strike fell, even as peak Supreme cultivators, they would die without a burial place.
"What kind of terrifying talent is this? How old is he? Twelve? Fifteen?"
"No, impossible. How could someone so young possess such terrifying strength?"
While they reeled in shock, the sword light was already upon them. Their eyes widened as they stared fixedly at the ever-approaching sword, their pupils contracting violently and despair filling their gazes.
"Little bastard! Do you really think no one in the Domain Lord's Manor can deal with you?"
An icy, furious voice abruptly rang out. Immediately afterward, an enormous golden fist appeared in everyone's sight. Bearing a terrifying presence, it fell like a meteor. With a thunderous rumble, it smashed into the sword light and instantly shattered it.
Boom-!
The fist and sword light vanished together, turning into a skyful of starry specks that drifted down over the earth.
An old man in blue robes, with white hair and a youthful face, slowly approached. His gaze was cold and sinister, and terrifying, sky-high killing intent radiated from his entire body.
"It's the head protector!"
"Head Protector, save us!" Upon seeing who had arrived, the three protectors cried out in unison.
