Background / History

Rise in the Ancient Desolate Holy Land

Ye Xuan was initially an unremarkable newcomer whose Chaos Sacred Body awakened during the sect assessment. Its manifestation attracted the Holy Land’s senior figures, several of whom immediately competed to claim him as a disciple. He became Han Bingning’s only disciple and received the Supreme Profound Scripture, a cultivation text restricted to successive Holy Lords, Holy Sons, and Holy Maidens 3 35 65.

While training in the rear mountains, he rescued the outer disciple Lin Xue from a Black-Furred Lion. She initially treated his claim to be the future Holy Son as a joke. Their encounter became the basis of a wider confrontation when Lin Xue was persecuted through the Law Enforcement Hall 9 18.

Ye Xuan intervened, crippled Xue Yao, and killed Yang Xiong. He then challenged Elder Yang Kaitai’s misuse of authority, declaring that the Law Enforcement Hall belonged to the Holy Land rather than the elder’s family. The incident spread across the sect, accompanied by contradictory rumors about his relationship with Lin Xue 20 21 22.

His investiture brought his sudden rise before the wider cultivation world. Rival Holy Son candidates resented his appointment, while outside prodigies questioned whether his reputation rested solely on his physique. He answered successive challenges through combat and openly confronted the Carefree Holy Land after recognizing its intention to kill him 35 36 39 48 73.

Xuanyuan City and the Mystic Realm

In Xuanyuan City, Ye Xuan drew attention by killing six Late Golden Core members of the Lin Clan and provoking the Carefree Holy Land’s prodigies. Despite his conspicuous arrival, he spent most of his stay cultivating privately at his inn 87.

His feud with the Carefree Holy Land intensified when one of its ancestors insulted Han Bingning. Ye Xuan demanded an apology and, when refused, challenged its disciples to deathmatches. His willingness to defend his master publicly impressed other powerful cultivators 124 125.

Before entering the Xuanyuan Mystic Realm, he also confronted outside-world prodigies who had dominated the local rankings. He forced Jian Qi to sever his own right arm and swear never to wield a sword again. Jian Qi later renewed their conflict inside the realm 177 214.

The mystic realm provided extensive resources and combat opportunities. Ye Xuan obtained 501 qualification jade tokens, each corresponding to a route that appeared in his mind, and advanced from Golden Core First Level to Nascent Soul Third Level. He killed Heavenly Position opponents, including Wang Ming, while continuing to refine his swordsmanship and physical techniques 181 205 218.

His efforts to protect Han Bingning repeatedly pushed him into desperate battles. After taking Cai Feng’s phoenix bloodline, he gave Han Bingning three drops of ancient phoenix essence blood. The opening of the divine palace then drew him into the realm’s final struggle for its opportunities 227 243 255.

Assassins and Departure from the Eastern Wasteland

The Listening to Rain Tower became another major threat. When Ye Xuan found Chu Rufeng’s group surrounded by its assassins, he deliberately identified himself as the Holy Son and drew the pursuers away, leaving his wounded companions behind 291.

His bond with Han Bingning deepened during their escape from powerful enemies. When she turned back to hold off three Venerable opponents, he refused to abandon her and returned despite understanding that he might die alongside her 338 339.

In Linfeng City and the surrounding conflicts, Ye Xuan faced major lineages and dynasties seeking to capture or control him. His Rule Suppression became sufficiently threatening that regional powers formed an alliance against him. When that alliance destroyed the Yin Lineage to capture Yin Tianjiao and threaten him, he retaliated against the Great Yun Dynasty, killing Yun Tianyang and executing Yun Qiankun 349 399 404 416.

Thousand Leaves Merchant Association and the Sealing Realm

Ye Xuan distrusted the Thousand Leaves Merchant Association’s attempt to move him into a first-class cabin, correctly treating the offer as a possible trap. His conflict with the association escalated into pursuit by powerful cultivators, including its Eighth Elder 472 521 528.

During this period, a mysterious woman emerged from the divine palace in his mind and killed Yong Xiaoyi with the Good Fortune Heavenly Dipper Finger. Ye Xuan himself did not understand the intervention and fled after collecting the dead man’s spatial ring 509.

Repeated battles against Saints strengthened both his body and his techniques. He exploited the distrust between members of opposing factions, fought Yang Wenxuan to the death, and later turned his own lightning tribulation against seven pursuing Saints 528 545 557.

He also adopted false identities to evade pursuit. After becoming wanted as Xuan Ye, he disguised himself as Yang Tian and used the ensuing holy war to pursue resources 564 568 570.

Heavenly Void Divine Island

Ye Xuan searched Heavenly Void Divine Island for Han Bingning after learning that she had been taken to the Mystic Heaven Immortal Domain. He promised Di Cangtian that he would bring her back to the Eastern Wasteland and supplied his companions with resources before continuing alone 635.

His rapid rise through the Venerable and Half-Saint rankings brought widespread fame and an expanding circle of enemies. Opponents organized a Ye Extermination Alliance as he climbed from first on the Venerable Ranking to second on the Half-Saint Ranking 661 677.

When Yin Tianjiao was imprisoned as bait, Ye Xuan entered the City Lord’s Manor despite sensing three Half-Emperors and other powerful enemies. He removed the Myriad Poison Devil-Devouring Nails pinning her limbs, then escaped at considerable personal cost 688 692.

After years apart, he reunited with Han Bingning. Their closeness immediately provoked challenges from her admirers, and he insisted on facing those challengers himself rather than leaving the confrontation to her 695.

Tower Trials and the Immortal Chasm

In the Profound Void Realm, Ye Xuan encountered Xu Huang, guardian of the first tower, who offered a shortcut past ten trials if defeated. Ye Xuan subsequently spent five years in the divine tower, strengthening his spiritual sense, breaking his fourth shackle, and studying alchemy and formations 740 742 747.

On the Heaven-Ascending Steps, he used mobility and Teleportation to outmaneuver stronger enemies. He repeatedly escaped Tian Gu, Chi Long, and Mo Tian, while killing Half-Emperors belonging to their factions and taking their spatial rings 797.

After further cultivation with Devil Moon, he reached the Supreme Extreme Realm of Half-Emperor and challenged the Immortal Chasm. Beyond it, he served under She Ling in the Hei Yun Army. His performance in the army’s contest lifted the She Ling Army from last place to first and changed his superiors’ initially dismissive attitudes into concern and respect 854 855 856 857 860.

Elopement and Final Victories

Han Bingning invited Ye Xuan to the Sacred Frost Palace, then asked him to elope with her instead. They escaped together and spent ten years hiding and cultivating while the palace and Dao Yan searched for them. Many outsiders wrongly believed that Ye Xuan had abducted her 862.

The woman accompanying him through the divine palace revealed herself as the Dark Devil God. Before departing, she helped him reach Great Emperor Realm and left him a jade talisman. Ye Xuan formally thanked her as his teacher, acknowledging that her support had repeatedly saved his life 862.

He later killed Dao Yan and the experts sent to avenge him. After reaching Great Emperor Realm Perfection, he defeated the Sacred Frost Palace Master and the Ye Clan patriarch, ending their attempts to interfere with his relationship or seize his bloodline. He refused an invitation to return to the Ye Clan 862.

Ye Xuan then traveled the Nine Heavens and Ten Lands with Han Bingning, remaining undefeated through ten thousand battles. He eventually split the Immortal Chasm with one sword and returned to the Eastern Wasteland, where he reunited with Qiu Yue, Yin Tianjiao, Devil Moon, the Dark Devil God, and the Holy Land’s ancestors 862.

Personality

Ye Xuan combines public confidence with sustained private effort. Han Bingning initially considers him steady and reserved despite his exceptional physique. He recognizes that innate talent alone is insufficient and repeatedly tempers his body, Spiritual Qi control, reflexes, and techniques through dangerous practice 3 10 13.

He is openly provocative toward enemies and refuses to grant automatic respect to stronger cultivators who have already tried to harm him. His taunts, deathmatch challenges, and confrontations with elders make him appear arrogant and domineering. He nevertheless understands his limits: he acknowledges the gulf between himself and senior experts and retreats when continued fighting would be fatal 48 88 117 369 413 610.

Loyalty strongly shapes his decisions. He defends Lin Xue against abuse, draws assassins away from fellow disciples, and repeatedly risks death for Han Bingning. His refusal to abandon her is explicitly framed as a choice he must make even when rescue appears impossible 21 291 339.

He is ruthless toward enemies but distinguishes retaliation from indiscriminate slaughter. Before avenging the Yin Lineage, he asks whether its destruction was connected to him; he also leaves uninvolved cultivators alone when they do not provoke him. His demand for resources is equally practical: sustaining his physique and cultivation requires vastly more than an ordinary cultivator consumes 218 375 404 473 599.
