Klein unscrewed the cap of the small metal vial, brought it to his nose, and smelled a slightly pungent but invigorating scent.
This is " Holy Night Powder," a blend of herbs including Deep Sleep Flower, Dragon's Blood Grass, Deep Red Sandalwood, and Peppermint. Because it's easy to make, Klein managed to get a bottle after replenishing his supplies at the underground trading market, and now it's finally coming in handy.
He poured some " Holy Night Powder " into his palm, then focused his mind, letting his eyes deepen.
Then, Klein put away the small metal bottle, picked up the powder, poured Spirituality into it, and sprinkled it on the ground.
He walked around Sirius's body, sprinkling water as he went.
An invisible wall suddenly rose up, isolating this place from the outside world.
Klein shook off the remaining " Holy Night Powder," then took out another small metal bottle and dripped the " Amanda " hydrosol and other liquids inside onto the surrounding area.
The order in which he arranged the ceremony differed from the Old Neil had done at Riel Bieber's house, because the things he wanted to ask for were different, and the goals he hoped to achieve were also different.
For example, Old Neil first sprinkles the liquid and then uses " Holy Night Powder," which creates a tranquility and sanctity second only to the formal altar. Klein, on the other hand, uses " Holy Night Powder " first and then sprinkles the liquid, because his purpose is simply to prevent the residual Spirituality of Sirius from being disturbed by the surrounding things and to have an environment that barely meets the requirements of the ritual.
--If he used Old Neil's method instead, the remaining Spirituality of Sirius would be expelled, making communication impossible.
Having done all this, Klein put away the materials, maintained his Cogitation state, and began to chant the incantation written in Hermes in a low voice:
I pray for the power of the Evernight;
I pray to the Concealment forces;
"I pray for the goddess's favor."
"I beg you to allow me to communicate Spirituality with the cultists within the altar."
As the incantation echoed in the sealed environment, Klein suddenly felt a vast, terrifying, and Concealment power descend upon him.
His eyes turned completely black, as if he had lost his pupils and the whites of his eyes.
Seizing the opportunity, Klein silently recited the " Divination phrase" in his mind:
"The recipe for the Clown Potion."
"The recipe for the Clown Potion."
Through silent Cogitation, he briefly entered a dream state, standing as he did so.
In the gray world devoid of sky and earth, Klein stared with unusual clarity at a transparent, illusory figure.
He reached out his right hand and touched the remaining spirit of Sirius.
With a loud bang, the scene before him suddenly changed.
It was a desk painted dark red, with a silver candlestick holding three candles and a blank sheet of paper.
Sirius is holding a pen, writing in the common Loenese:
"This is the second recipe; the note says it's called ' Clown '."
"80 ml of pure water, 5 drops of datura juice, 7 g of black-edged the Sun powder, 10 g of golden cape grass powder, and 3 drops of poison violet juice are the auxiliary materials."
"The main, extraordinary materials are: a single crystal of a mature Hornacis Gray Goat, and a complete Human-faced Rose."
Sirius seemed to need no recollection; he quickly wrote down the recipe for the Clown Potion.
He paused briefly, took a sip of coffee, and then untied the silver pendant from his wrist.
He gripped the pendant, half-closed his eyes, and murmured words and phrases such as "Doomsday," "peace of mind," "May God protect you," and "I repent to you."
After Sirius finished praying, Klein finally got a clear look at the pendant.
Below the silver bracelet, which is linked together, hangs a human-shaped statue about the size of a thumb.
The statue has Giant's distinctive vertical single eye, its head is facing downwards, and its feet are bound by chains, connecting it to the top.
Just then, a faint, blood-red light flashed in the Giant's vertical single eye.
Snap!
The scene Klein witnessed shattered instantly, his legs went weak, and he nearly collapsed to his knees.
A sharp pain shot through Klein's head, as if he had been struck hard with a club. His vision blurred with blood, and his hands involuntarily braced themselves on his knees.
After a few seconds, he recovered and stood up straight again, feeling extremely weak in Spirituality, as if he had heard whispers piercing his mind again.
However, thanks to his progress in "digesting" the Potion, the abnormal reactions quickly subsided.
"The Hanged Giant, the True Creator... Sirius and Hynas are members of the Aurora Order? But what the captain saw in Hynas Vincent's dream was a giant cross, a terrifying being hanging upside down and nailed to the cross, not the Aurora Order's ' Hanged Giant '..." Klein took two deep breaths, waiting for his Spirituality to slowly recover.
The Aurora Order is a Concealment organization that has only emerged in the last two or three hundred years. They worship the " True Creator " and use the Hanged Giant as a symbol of that being. They believe that everyone possesses divinity, and as long as one's spirit is strong enough to withstand one test after another, one can accumulate abundant divinity and become Angel.
According to the Nighthawks' internal records, the Sequence 9 members mastered by the Aurora Order are called " Mystery Pryer." These Beyonder can sense certain mysterious and terrifying existences, possess certain sacrificial knowledge and a small amount of Ritualistic Magic. There is sufficient evidence to suggest that senior " Mystery Pryer " will more or less exhibit Distortion cognitive views and are prone to losing control.
The Aurora Order's Sequence 7 is unknown, Sequence 8 is " The Listener," a rather terrifying extraordinary "profession."
Each " Listener " can directly hear the whispers of the corresponding Hidden Existence, so they often gain many powerful, Distortion, and unique abilities. However, if a " Listener " cannot be promoted, they are unlikely to survive for more than five years. In addition, the internal data of the Nighthawks gives the evaluation that all " Listener " are Lunatic, even if they usually act normally, they are necessarily Lunatic in secret.
Klein quickly reviewed the Aurora Order's information in his mind and made a preliminary judgment that Sirius was a " Mystery Pryer ".
"Judging from the description, the Mystery Pryer and the Seer are equally terrible in skirmishes, which is consistent with Sirius's performance. Was he later seriously injured, causing him to lose control? Hmm, Frye said that every Beyonder undergoes some strange changes after death..." Klein thought to himself as he tapped his chest four times, praising the goddess.
Immediately afterwards, having regained some of his Spirituality, he completed the ritual in order and broke the sealed Wall of Spirituality.
The wind howled, and Klein forced himself to look at Sirius's corpse again.
He noticed a distinct tumor remaining on Sirius's bloodied face; it was a deep purple-black tumor, and it seemed as if liquid and light were shimmering inside.
"What exactly is this change?" Klein rubbed his temples, not daring to touch them.
He bent down and picked up the cane, letting the other person bear part of his weight.
After the backlash he just witnessed, he knew that Sirius's remaining Spirituality had been completely destroyed, and even the " Spirit Medium " Daly could no longer communicate with him.
After waiting for a while, Klein was greeted by captain Dunn and teammates Leonard and Kenley.
"I sense a fated connection between you and the Beyonder, and between you and evil forces. The extraordinary events you've encountered recently are more than we've seen in a single quarter in the past." Leonard glanced at the corpses on the ground, making what seemed like a casual joke.
"Perhaps it's not a coincidence." Klein suddenly thought of the red chimney he had seen in the " Dream Divination," as well as the majestic palace and invisible gaze he had seen on the main peak of the Hornacis Mountain Range last time, so he took the opportunity to make a comment.
Dunn glanced around, then looked at Klein with his deep gray eyes and said:
"Have you tried Spirit Channeling?"
The scents of " Holy Night Powder " and hydrosol essential oils still lingered at the scene.
"Yes," Klein answered frankly, "I was worried that you arrived too late, and the remaining Spirituality was showing signs of dissipating."
"You don't look too good," the short Kenley said with concern.
As Klein handed the captain the letter that Sirius had not yet mailed, he the Original by saying:
"When I went to the underground market to buy ritual materials, it suddenly occurred to me that Selena had been to the Evil Dragon Bar, and it was Hynas Vincent. This indicates that Hynas was a regular there. Therefore, I suspect that the gentleman in the portrait, the gentleman who has some connection with Hynas, may have also been to the underground market."
"I showed the portrait to the owner, Swain, who confirmed that the gentleman was trying to buy artifacts and ancient books related to Main Peak of Hornacis. This immediately reminded me of this place, and how someone had just returned the corresponding periodicals I had borrowed..."
Leonard listened with a smile, then suddenly interjected:
"So you came here with your trainee inspector's badge and the Special Operations Department's insignia to investigate the borrowing Record of those periodicals? Actually, I'm curious, why did you clash with this gentleman? Even if you encountered him directly, given your style, you should have pretended not to know him, left the library as soon as possible, and gone to Zouteland Street to ask us for help."
"Yes, you don't need to take any risks. As long as the target is identified and he hasn't left Tingen, there will always be a way to find him," Dunn added as he browsed the letters.
Klein was immediately a little embarrassed:
The librarian recognized him and shouted for the police to help.
"I can't pretend I didn't hear it..."
Leonard and Kenley immediately exchanged a glance, one making no attempt to hide his smile, while the other turned his head away.
Dunn nodded slightly, shifting his gaze from the letter, and said:
What did you gain from Spirit Channeling?
"I saw a pendant carved with Hanged Giant, and I saw the Giant's One-Eyed flash blood red before it withdrew from the ritual," Klein described truthfully.
He hasn't mentioned the " Clown " Potion yet, based on two considerations:
On the one hand, if Dunn and his team were to find the corresponding record at Sirius's hiding place during their subsequent investigation, then his statement would be meaningless and would not add any extra merit.
On the other hand, if Dunn and the others fail to find it, he can find an opportunity to report it in the future, accumulating more merit for applying for materials and preparing Potion. This is a way to receive one merit in two installments, which comes from Old Neil's teachings during this period.
" Aurora Order?" Dunn murmured thoughtfully, then asked some related questions.
After Klein answered each question, he glanced at the other man's tired expression, raised his cane, and said:
"Good, you've foiled a plot against Tingen City. You can go back and rest now. Kenley, go find Old Neil."
After giving the instructions, Dunn shook his head and smiled wryly:
"Before Sequence 6, Beyonder on the ' Sleepless ' pathway lack many auxiliary abilities, and can only master the simplest and most basic Ritualistic Magic."
"Captain, do you mean that starting from Sequence 6, Beyonder using the ' Sleepless ' pathway will receive corresponding enhancements?" Klein asked curiously.
"Hmm," Dunn replied affirmatively.
After leaving the Deville Library, Klein nearly fell asleep several times on the way back to Daffodil Street by public carriage.
He forced himself to go inside, took off his hat and coat, and fell asleep on the sofa.
He didn't know how much time had passed when he suddenly woke up, took out his pocket watch, and snapped it open.
" Melissa will be back in half an hour, and Benson in forty or fifty minutes... We'll have to make them wait an hour and a half before they can have dinner..." Klein rubbed his forehead and walked into the kitchen.
He first washed his face with cold water, then took out the oxtail, tomatoes, carrots, onions, and other ingredients he had bought at noon.
After finishing his preparations, he suddenly paused, feeling that this didn't quite match what had happened that afternoon.
"I'm the man who just saved Tingen City..." Klein muttered with amusement, putting on a white apron, picking up a kitchen knife, and getting to work.
