It was another Dream Divination, but this time Klein saw more scenes.
The first scene still features that small, dark, and dirty room with Ian Wright fast asleep in the bunk bed.
The second scene takes place in the sewer where the two had visited together. Ian crouches in front of Zerrell's mutilated body, reaching out to stroke the two rows of white teeth and removing one of them.
The third act takes place on a bustling, noisy street where passersby are dressed simply, even in worn or tattered clothes.
In the center of the street, there were gardens and lawns, surrounded by low chimneys spewing steam. Ian, wearing an old coat and Round Tower hat, looked around warily as he entered the telegraph office not far from the center of the street. Diagonally opposite was the entrance to the Steam subway, which resembled a shopping mall.
The image faded rapidly until it became transparent. Klein opened his eyes, tapped the edge of the bronze table with his index finger, and made a preliminary judgment:
"Judging from that tooth and the telegram, Zerrell and Ian aren't just a Detective duo who accidentally got caught up in a dangerous incident; there's an organization behind them!"
"We should be able to determine where the scene in Act III corresponds to..."
Klein didn't rush into a deeper analysis because he didn't want to stay above the Gray Fog for too long.
Leaving the high-backed chair belonging to " The Fool," he went to a side corner and rummaged through the paper bag that had been brought in earlier to find Meursault's Beyonder Characteristic.
Holding the jelly-like, deep red object, Klein sat down again and wrote a new Divination statement:
"The corresponding Potion name."
While silently reciting the mantra, he grasped the Beyonder Characteristic in one hand and the paper with the Divination in the other, and through Cogitation, he entered a deep sleep.
In the hazy, dreamlike state, the ambassador, dressed in extravagantly luxurious clothes and with a thin, stubble-covered face, appeared once again in Klein's eyes.
He held up a bottle of deep red liquid and said to Meursault:
"Drink it, drink this ' Hunter's ' Potion, and you'll be in control of the Zmanger Gang. Of course, money is indispensable. As Emperor Roselle once said, 'A stick in one hand, a carrot in the other.'"
" Hunter? Backlund is a metropolis..." Meursault frowned slightly, asking in confusion.
In his illiterate mind, Hunter belonged to the wild and to animals.
The middle-aged ambassador chuckled and said:
"The largest city, and also the largest dark jungle."
"Here, everyone has two identities: prey and Hunter."
Even the weakest Hunter is still Hunter, and can potentially harm powerful prey.
"Go forth and join this grand hunt!"
The image shattered, transforming into countless lights and shadows. Klein looked down at the deep red Beyonder Characteristic in his hand and muttered to himself:
"So it was the ' Hunter's ' Potion. No wonder Meursault was so good at fighting, and even used a poisoned blowgun."
"No wonder he was able to track me down here..."
"However, he doesn't seem to have truly grasped the essence of Hunter. He didn't set up traps, didn't use weapons, and didn't utilize his special skills... This is partly because he didn't know I was also Beyonder, and Sequence 8 Beyonder at that, so he underestimated me. It also shows that he hasn't been taking the Potion for very long..."
"The ' Hunter ' path is controlled by both the Intis royal family Sauron Family, and the Einhorn Family, the rulers of the Fussac Feynapotter Empire, as well as the ' Iron and Blood Cross Order,' Concealment organization that has only emerged in the last two or three hundred years. Combined with the style of clothing, the ambassador's identity is almost certain... a high-ranking diplomat of the Republic of Intis, ambassador to the Kingdom of Loen..."
"I wonder what that important item he wants is..."
As his thoughts churned, Klein enveloped himself in Spirituality and plummeted downwards.
Upon returning to his room, he immediately and cautiously surveyed his surroundings, but found nothing unusual.
Klein let out a silent sigh, feeling even more confident that he could convene the Tarot Club members on time tomorrow afternoon.
He pulled out the Backlund map he'd bought on the Steam train and looked for the telegraph office along the subway line, the one not far from the center of town.
Backlund currently only has a few subway lines, Klein quickly identified three targets: one in the West Borough, one in the St. George Borough, and one in the East Borough where it intersects with the Backlund Bridge Area.
He recalled the clothing, appearance, and social class of most of the pedestrians in his dream and arrived at the final answer:
The third place!
The area where the East Borough meets the Backlund Bridge Area!
Sometimes, interpreting revelations also requires a wealth of real-world knowledge and corresponding reasoning skills... Klein chuckled to himself, then went to his desk and added another sentence to the statement he had written earlier, enriching the content on the paper:
"I don't know where Ian Wright. I haven't seen him since the discovery of Zerrell's body. However, I know through my own channels that Ian Wright was once at the telegraph office on White Rum Street."
After finishing writing, Klein neither folded and put away the paper nor used his Spirituality to burn it. Instead, he left it spread out on the desk, freely displaying its contents.
After gazing at him intently for a moment, Klein returned to the bedside, undressed, and went to sleep.
Outside the tightly closed curtains, the red moon peeked out from behind the clouds, its light bright, clear, and perfectly round.
Inside a house in Hillston Borough.
Fors, who was sleeping separately from Hugh, suddenly sat up, stretched out her hands, and covered her head.
Her once-decent face was now Distortion to the extreme, making her look like a Devil.
Fors pressed her ears to both sides and rolled around on the bed, seemingly fighting against her delirious murmurs.
Sweat beaded on her forehead, and veins bulged on the back of her hands.
Her body tensed and rolled at times, and her pale blue eyes, which had originally held a playful and languid air, were now filled with pain.
Deep within those pupils, countless lights and shadows seemed to shift and overlap.
"No!" Fors finally couldn't bear it any longer and let out a low scream.
She stopped covering her ears with her hands and instead started pulling at her hair, as if trying to fight the pain with pain.
Fors Distortion and twisted for several minutes before finally stopping.
She loosened her grip, saw the clumps of slightly curly brown hair, and gave a weak, self-deprecating laugh:
"I lied to Hugh. I told her that the babbling during each Full Moon didn't have any negative effects on me... at least hair loss is a serious problem..."
Fors struggled to sit up, looked at the curtain that half-covered the window, and through the gap, saw the dreamlike crimson Full Moon outside.
"It's getting worse each time. Will it get out of control next time...?" Fors murmured, unable to suppress the weakness she usually kept hidden deep inside.
She tried separating the bracelet, which allowed people to Teleportation through the Spirit World, from herself, but this could no longer stop the Full Moon Ravings from disappearing.
She tried taking tranquilizers, chanting the name of the God of Steam and Machinery, and certain Ritualistic Magic, but none of them could change her gradual slide into the Abyss.
"If only I could understand what that babbling was saying... I wish to die knowing, rather than be buried in confusion... Perhaps, perhaps, after advancing to Sequence 8, I'll be able to hear it more clearly? But I've never met anyone selling the ' Trickmaster ' recipe." Fors stared blankly out the window, her eyes tinged with red by the moonlight.
On Monday morning, Klein, who hadn't slept well, woke up early and got out of bed.
He walked to the desk, preparing to pull back the curtains and open the window to let in both light and fresh air.
Just then, he caught a glimpse of the paper spread out on the desk out of the corner of his eye.
It faces the window and remains lying there as it was.
However, Klein clearly remembered that last night before he went to sleep, the paper was facing the chair and the bed!
After just one sleep, it turned upside down and changed direction!
Klein's pupils constricted, and he abruptly reached out and pulled back the curtain, only to find the convex window still tightly shut, not letting in a single breeze!
Even without wind, the paper spun half a circle on its own!
No, someone came in without my noticing! Klein felt a chill run down his spine to his head.
He was completely unresponsive in his sleep!
This means that he was almost at the mercy of others at that time, and his life or death depended solely on the mood and thoughts of the other party!
Was he a member of a special military unit, or a powerful Beyonder sent by the ambassador? Judging from the fact that the paper hadn't been restored to its original state and remained upside down, it was more likely the latter, serving as a warning... To be able to infiltrate so silently, that's impressive... Should I thank him for his kindness? No, why wouldn't he do something so easy? There must be a reason... Did he not want to alert the special military unit members monitoring the area? Klein's thoughts raced, and he couldn't help but think about many things.
He wrote those words last night, leaving the paper spread out on his desk so that people could see them, so that the ambassador would know what he wanted to know, so that possible retaliation would be postponed until the matter was over, giving himself more time to prepare.
However, Klein had originally expected that the other party would sneak in while he was out, taking advantage of the reduced surveillance of the house by the military's special forces. Who knew that he would be able to bypass the Beyonder around him and enter the bedroom silently while he was still fast asleep.
The feeling of having your life and death controlled by others is extremely unpleasant!
"A very powerful, or perhaps a very strangely powerful Beyonder..." Klein turned around, his back to the convex window, and took out a one-penny copper coin.
Someone broke into this room last night.
He silently recited the words, and using his body as cover, flicked the coin upwards.
The coin tumbled and bounced, falling sharply before reaching Klein's shoulder, landing in his outstretched palm.
This time the numbers are facing up.
This indicates a negative!
This indicates that no one broke into Klein's bedroom last night!
The paper wouldn't just turn for no reason... Am I sleepwalking? No, I can stay awake even when the captain invades my dreams... Klein frowned, considering two possibilities:
First, the Divination results were interfered with or misled.
Second, the infiltrator wasn't human!
