Listening to the roars and howls of the disciples of Myriad Races races rising and falling, the Dragon Race's Grand Elder stood on the broken altar, his eyes dim, his heart filled with helplessness and sorrow.
He was once a being who swept across the stars and awed all the heavens; with a single Dragon's Roar, all realms submitted.
But now, faced with the ever-present gray fog and the rampaging, out-of-control corpse dragon, the glory of the past slips through our fingers like sand.
They— the Dragon Race —were once among the oldest overlords in the Core Universe, wielding the Power of Time and igniting the Origin the universe with their dragon blood.
However, when the gray fog quietly descended, everything collapsed, and the formation was easily torn apart like paper.
One after another, the restrictions passed down for millions of years vanished in an instant, and even the most ancient Dragon God Grand Formation could not withstand three breaths.
That feeling of powerlessness was as if the world had turned upside down, and fate was completely controlled by an invisible hand.
In just a few days, a third of the Dragon Race has perished.
The once Dragon Court, which spanned the star field, now has only a few hundred thousand surviving descendants, huddled in the last sanctuary of the Dragon Universe, barely clinging to life.
The remaining powerful beings were merely a few long-dormant ancestors who had not yet awakened, their souls already corrupted by the gray mist, plunging them into eternal Chaos.
Just as despair was spreading, Ye Changge's cold voice rang out.
"I can save you." His voice wasn't loud, but it pierced through all the wails and roars, "But the price is—you will forever lose your dragon form, your supernatural powers, and become mortals, only able to reproduce and continue your lineage."
The entire hall fell silent.
This signifies the end of the Dragon Race as a transcendent species.
Without dragon scales, without dragon breath, without the power to soar through the Nine Heavens, only an ordinary shell and a history about to be forgotten remain.
But in the midst of this silence, the Dragon Race's Grand Elder suddenly looked up, his eyes showing no hesitation, only determination. "Fine, I agree."
That final sound seemed to crush the last pillar of faith.
Everyone was shocked, yet unable to refute it—otherwise, the entire clan would become walking corpses, with no chance of Samsara.
"Let's go," Ye Changge calmly. "Only I can purify this gray fog."
Before he finished speaking, he waved his sleeve, and space folded. In an instant, the two of them had traversed billions of light-years and arrived in the Dragon Universe.
But the sight before him caused the Grand Elder to kneel on the spot, Vertical and Horizontal.
The once glorious holy city of the Dragon Race is now filled with the aura of death, and dark clouds loom overhead.
The remains of the giant dragons that once roamed the galaxy are piled up everywhere, resembling mountains.
Those once proud descendants have all transformed into mindless corpse dragons, wandering and roaring in the gray mist, killing each other without any dignity.
"My people... are they really gone?" The Grand Elder cried out in anguish, his voice rife with heart-wrenching grief, "Damn it! Damn it all!"
But all he received in response was deathly silence.
Until Ye Changge stepped forward, his gaze turning slightly cold. "You parasites living in the gray mist, do you even deserve to be called dragons?"
In an instant, the world changed color.
An invisible, immense power erupted from his body, like the dawn breaking through the night, illuminating the universe.
The gray fog retreated frantically as if it had encountered its natural enemy, eventually Annihilation completely without leaving a trace.
Under the light, the corpse dragons let out mournful screams, their bodies twisting and shrinking until they all transformed into human form and fell to the ground—no longer monsters, no longer Dragon Race, but just ordinary humans.
"I... I'm still alive?" A person trembled as they touched their face.
"Why... can't I feel the dragon's power anymore? Have I become a mortal?" another person shouted in terror.
"It's all the gray fog's fault! It ruined us!" Someone pounded their chest and roared angrily.
The entire Dragon Universe descended into chaos and confusion.
The Grand Elder stared blankly at all of this, finally realizing that what Ye Changge had said was true.
"No need to be alarmed." Ye Changge's voice resounded like a bell throughout the entire space, "This is the path to survival chosen by your Grand Elder himself. If you are unwilling to be a mortal, then await utter annihilation."
After the words were spoken, all was silent.
From then on, the Dragon Universe was free of gray fog and zombies.
All evil spirits vanished into nothingness, and all the dead regained their freedom.
Although they can no longer fly through the clouds or command the wind and rain, at least they are still alive.
