Background and History
Adoption and Earth
Ye Changge’s earliest recovered memories show him descending from the sky as a baby wrapped in a red quilt. Ye Ba caught him, adopted him as his son, and experienced a breakthrough upon meeting him. A jade pendant already bore the name “Ye Changge,” leaving his biological origins unresolved 1549 1550.
He grew up in the Ye Lineage but could not cultivate despite its resources. An elder later explained that the founding ancestor sent him to Earth with the Invincible Mirror so that he could live peacefully without cultivation. His restored memories instead emphasize Ye Ba’s determination to send him away and his forcible subjugation of the lineage to accomplish it 1549 1550.
Using the mirror consumed enough of the Invincible Plain’s power to upset its yin–yang balance. According to the system, this allowed the yin-side Evil Thought Clan to invade human territory. After recovering these memories, Ye Changge remained uncertain about both his own identity and Ye Ba’s fate; his inability to resurrect Ye Ba led him to consider that his adoptive father might still be alive or beyond his reach 1550.
Reincarnations
One of Ye Changge’s previous lives was Chen Feng, a Dao Heaven Sect disciple in the One-Rune Realm. Chen Feng disappeared into a spatial storm during a mission. His senior sister, who had grown up with him under the same master, pursued him and became stranded on the Immortal Road 183.
Later encounters reveal further reincarnation connections. A statue displays a man resembling Ye Changge teaching cultivation and culture to beings born from flowers. Its creator claims to have guarded Ye Changge’s previous life and tells him that three women accompanying him are the key to his mission. Another identical figure identifies himself as the two-thousandth reincarnation, rescues him from petrification, and leaves a ball of memories in his mind before vanishing 368 369.
The Ye Clan Feud
For much of his journey, Ye Changge does not know his family. Memories taken from Ye Beilu’s side suggest a connection to the powerful Ye Clan, but he refuses to let possible kinship excuse attacks against him. He recalls spending more than a decade alone in a foreign land without knowing who his relatives were 293 544.
During his later attack on the clan, he states that his parents remain missing and that his grandparents died in an earlier battle. He blames the clan’s tacit approval of past events for his suffering and rejects obligations toward relatives he does not know. The subsequent recovery of his childhood memories reveals his adoption by Ye Ba and his earlier upbringing within the Ye Lineage 970 1549 1550.
Appearance
- Face: Handsome, with sharply defined features, sword-like brows, a straight nose, and thin lips 3 666.
- Hair: Long and black; at times casually tied behind his head 666 969.
- Clothing: Appears in white during Wang Yuyan’s rescue and wears black robes in later encounters 3 1458 1496.
- Divine eyes: His Three-Pupiled Divine Eyes manifest three mysterious black pupils; later forms include Four-Pupiled and Five-Pupil Divine Eyes 769 1248 1252.
- Disguise: Can alter his handsome features into an unremarkable appearance and suppress his apparent cultivation to Foundation Establishment 1458.
Personality
Ye Changge is teasing, flirtatious, and deliberately irreverent. He prefers “Young Master” to formal titles such as sect master, jokes with his disciples, and humiliates enemies rather than merely defeating them. His first lesson to Wang Yuyan is to seize an arrogant opponent’s cultivation resources; his second is to strip and beat the opponent 3 4.
He invests heavily in the people under his protection. He equips disciples with exceptional scriptures and weapons, relocates threatened followers, and supplies cultivation resources when his faction faces stronger enemies. He also recognizes expertise outside combat: after gaining recognition in alchemy, he continues studying rather than treating his reputation as proof of mastery 53 97 185 316.
His stated ideals and actions are sharply contradictory. He praises respect for life, condemns racial discrimination, and establishes an academy promoting exchange between races. Elsewhere, he uses a false peace offer to assassinate the Dragon Race’s lord, attacks surrendered soldiers, and adopts the goal of making humanity the world’s sole race. His later campaigns explicitly target nonhuman populations, including blood relatives and children of his enemies 435 527 585 604 970 1490 1522.
