Biodata
| Feature | Details |
|---|---|
| Name | Myriad Races |
| Original Name | 万族 |
| Classification | Collective designation for numerous races and their factions; also described as a loose alliance 467 896. |
| Organization | Separate clans, sects, territories, and regional coalitions rather than a consistently unified government 478 1643. |
| Role | Recurring opponents of the Human Race, responsible for historical campaigns of conquest, enslavement, and extermination 1480 1539. |
| Status | Varies by region. Their Outer Universe populations are described as exterminated, while other Myriad Races remain active in later settings, including the Invincible Plain 1122 1629 1644. |
Definition and Scope
- Not a single species: The Myriad Races possess distinct bloodlines, inheritances, racial talents, and forms 291 486.
- Humans are excluded from their disciple-training realm: The Myriad Races Secret Realm explicitly does not count the Human Race among its participating races 191.
- The terminology varies by context: One explanation distinguishes the Myriad Races from the Demon Race and non-transforming Immortal Beasts, while later Demon Race representatives explicitly identify themselves as members of the Myriad Races 291 1349.
- Membership does not guarantee solidarity: Races frequently prioritize their own survival, withhold reinforcements, or hope rival factions and humans will weaken one another 896 1643.
Organization
Alliances and Leadership
The Myriad Races generally act through their own patriarchs, elders, sect leaders, and military commanders. Large coalitions form when individual factions cannot withstand the Human Race alone, but disagreements over strategy and self-preservation repeatedly undermine cooperation 467 478 1643.
| Organization or leader | Function |
|---|---|
| Ten Thousand Races Alliance | An ancient organization founded to resist threats from chaos. Its members include the Feather, Beast, Spirit, and Shadow Races. It develops a shared culture through cooperation and is described as a powerful, secretive force whose headquarters are unknown 486. |
| Reincarnation Hall | Hosts the gathering that organizes a billion-strong army against the Human Race. Its hall master later intervenes through an avatar wielding the Reincarnation Disc 467 483 485. |
| Dadida | Commander of the billion-strong coalition army and a middle God Venerable. His defeat by Xiang Yu causes the army’s formation and morale to collapse 467. |
| Nine-headed lion commander | Golden-armored commander whose counterattack disrupts Su Ning’s army. Anzhu suppresses his cultivation with a wooden fish and kills him, prompting numerous troops to surrender 330. |
| Black-robed, golden-crowned leader | Unnamed strategist who unites the Dragon Pass world’s races and leads them to victory over a human army 592. |
| Fifth alliance leader | Orders the historical slaughter of humanity after blaming humans for the disaster associated with a forbidden great tomb 1537. |
| Bai Ran | Son of Destiny charged from birth with protecting the Myriad Races. Their self-serving calculations during his confrontation with Ye Changge leave him disillusioned 1507. |
The ancient alliance described in one account is not the only coalition bearing the name: the Dragon Pass world’s races also organize a Ten Thousand Races Alliance during their struggle against the advancing human army 486 592.
Notable Races and Factions
| Race or faction | Documented involvement |
|---|---|
| Moon Clan and Baihu Clan | Participate in the early wars around the Desolate Ancient Heavenly Domain. The Baihu Clan later becomes a major target of human conquest 130 139 231. |
| Heavenly Wolf Clan | Defends the Fourth City during Ye Changge’s campaign through the cities 182. |
| Dao Heaven Palace, Earth Alliance, Solar Clan | Declare campaigns against the Human Race after returning on fragmented continents 278. |
| Northern Dark Lineage and black flood dragons | Resist the human advance into the territory north of the Sea of Death 518. |
| Tree Clan | Fields powerful spear cultivators and elders; later coalition members cite the destruction of Tree Pass World as evidence of the threat facing all races 752 763 825. |
| Fire Phoenix Clan, Azure Luan Clan, Evil Crow Clan | Participate in the defense of Sky Pass, setting aside disputes to oppose the Human Race 825. |
| Five-Colored Divine Ox Clan | Its patriarch and grand elder clash over how to respond to the human extermination campaign 1109. |
| White Devil, Golden Giant Elephant, and Void Devil Races | Major races involved in the conflict surrounding the Black Hole Universe and the Divine Tower 1268 1287 1294. |
| Metal and Stone Race | Ancient secluded lineage whose representative possesses Dharma Realm Seventh Layer strength 1436 1439. |
| Finality Qilin Clan | Possesses the Finality Bloodline and produces a half-step Finality Realm combatant whom other races regard as a possible savior 1524 1526. |
| Desolate Rat Race and Flower Clan | Supply reinforcements and leading combatants in the battle for Desolate City 1629 1630. |
| Ice Bird Race and Destruction Tiger Race | Face the human campaign in the Northern Region; the Destruction Tiger patriarch condemns other races for ignoring the Ice Bird Race’s requests for aid 1643. |
Historical Background
The ancient Ten Thousand Races Alliance originates in an era when heaven and earth have not yet separated. Races join forces to survive threats from chaos, establish a covenant, and gradually blend aspects of their cultures. Its history also includes the extermination of the Human Race 486.
Other accounts describe humanity as a former dominant power rather than an inherently weak species. Following the catastrophe connected to a forbidden great tomb, the Myriad Races blame humanity for endangering the heavens. Their fifth alliance leader orders a massacre; subsequent campaigns destroy human settlements, books, inheritances, and civilian populations 1537 1539.
On the Invincible Plain, the loss of humanity’s three great pillars leaves its tribes divided. The Myriad Races exploit this weakness, capturing ancient cities and killing hundreds of millions. Surviving human experts open a passage to Samsara for younger bloodlines while remaining behind to cover their escape 1610.
By the time humans return, some younger Myriad Races cultivators no longer recognize them. Older traditions nevertheless preserve warnings against provoking humanity, rooted in an earlier age when powerful races themselves served as human food 1644 1645.
Major Conflicts
| Period / setting | Events |
|---|---|
| Desolate Ancient Heavenly Domain | After the Moon Clan’s destruction, nearby races assemble a ten-million-strong invasion army. Guang Chengzi kills prominent Ancient Kings, and later the races’ Half-Step Ancient Ancestors gather with Ancient Ancestor Artifacts to surround Black Slave 130 139. |
| City campaigns and the Myriad Races Secret Realm | Ye Changge’s forces defeat Heavenly Wolf defenders and rescue humans being massacred in the Seventh City. Humanity also penetrates the jointly established disciple-training secret realm 182 189. |
| Baihu Clan conquest | Human forces kill the clan’s leading combatants and reduce captives to livestock by erasing their intelligence. Ye Changge prohibits the subdued races from cultivating or taking human form 231. |
| Revelation of earlier human defeats | Through the Seven-Colored Battle Armor’s inner world, Ye Changge witnesses its artifact spirit helping the Myriad Races defeat humanity in two wars. Their leaders subsequently relocate prodigies and prepare to eliminate humanity in the Immortal Runes World 252. |
| Su Ning’s campaign | A Myriad Races counterattack briefly disrupts the human army, but Anzhu kills its nine-headed lion commander. Many surviving soldiers surrender 330. |
| Innate Secret Realm | Myriad Races experts repeatedly besiege Ye Changge’s party. At the Tear of God plaza, formations kill most assembled disciples, and three eternal prodigies fail to overpower him together. Near the realm’s closure, he nearly exterminates their remaining prodigies; outside, their elders prepare a confrontation 380 386 463. |
| Divine Realm war | A billion-strong army forms at Reincarnation Hall, but Dadida’s defeat triggers its collapse. Further coalitions attack from three directions, employ the Reincarnation Disc, and suffer another morale crisis when the hall master’s avatar is destroyed 467 479 482 485. |
| Advance north of the Sea of Death | Humanity destroys the Northern Dark Lineage and encounters fierce resistance from black flood dragons, including mass self-detonations 518. |
| Dragon Pass world | Threatened races prepare to flee, then unite under a mysterious crowned leader and defeat a human army. Ye Changge subsequently enters an ancient battlefield containing the specters of slaughtered humans and later leads departed souls against Myriad Races forces 591 592 595. |
| Taiyin City and Sky Pass | Taiyin City’s defenders burn lifespans and bloodlines while resisting cannons and puppets. At Sky Pass, allied reinforcements face poisoned shells; the battle ends in a temporary human victory after Black Impermanence intimidates the coalition 667 825 826. |
| Outer Universe unification | Human armies largely wipe out the regional Myriad Races and hunt survivors concealed in formations and inheritance grounds. Resistance continues under the Five-Colored Divine Ox grand elder; afterward, the disappearance of their populations leaves only residual Power of Myriad Evils 1100 1109 1122. |
| Black Hole Universe and Divine Tower | Ye Changge defeats successive alliances and destroys the White Devil Clan. Myriad Races participants later dismantle the Divine Tower to escape, forcing an emergence into the Qin Emperor Universe. Fear of Ye Changge eventually silences their challenge to humanity before the Inspection Hall 1267 1294 1341 1356. |
| Core Universe campaign | Powerful races mobilize against Ye Changge, including the Time Wandering Dragon. After further destruction by gray mist, the remaining factions face eight human armies and organize another coalition to preserve their territories and inheritances 1390 1415. |
| Realm Sea and Dimensional Space | Resistance escalates through Dharma Realm and Zero Realm experts. Bai Ran fails to stop Ye Changge, who subsequently devastates the higher heavens and hunts hidden survivors throughout Dimensional Space 1485 1503 1507 1511. |
| Heaven Beyond Heaven and Deep Space | The races pin their hopes on a Finality Qilin, but it and hundreds of millions of its clansmen are killed. Ye Changge later attacks Myriad Races strongholds and the occupied former Great Qin capital, where a survivor reports over a hundred million deaths 1524 1526 1535 1546. |
| Invincible Plain | Human artillery and a lightning talisman suppress enemy forces and prevent self-detonations. Reinforcements fail to save Desolate City, whose allied army is annihilated. Elsewhere, competing interests obstruct aid to the Ice Bird Race 1574 1629 1630 1643. |
Military Strength and Resources
Racial Talents and Cultivation
The Myriad Races draw strength from different bloodlines and inheritances rather than one shared cultivation technique 291.
- Elemental attacks: Black flood dragons wield fire, lightning, and storms 518.
- Specialized physiques: The Golden Giant Elephant Race is renowned for its ancient physical strength and bloodline reserves; the Metal and Stone Race possesses powerful bodies and abundant magical power 1287 1439.
- Innate living beings: Elders of several Black Hole Universe races are described as primordial beings accompanied by Heavenly Dao power from birth 1268.
- High-level reserves: Later coalitions include Zero Realm rulers, Finality Realm ancestors, and true Invincible Realm experts 1503 1541 1629.
Coalition Warfare
- Mass mobilization: The Divine Realm coalition requires participating races and factions to provide ten million troops, ten God Kings, and two God Venerables each 467.
- Large allied armies: A northeastern coalition fields 1.5 billion troops outside the Sea of Death 482.
- Combined racial advantages: Allied forces coordinate distinct divine abilities and secret arts rather than relying exclusively on numbers 484.
- Scouting and traps: Dragon Pass defenders divide responsibilities among reconnaissance, traps, and direct confrontation 592.
- Command vulnerability: Dadida’s defeat produces immediate disorder; the death of the nine-headed lion commander instead leads many troops to surrender 330 467.
Training Grounds and Artifacts
- Myriad Races Secret Realm: Jointly established small world containing eighteen cities and numerous opportunities. Once closed, it resists interference even from Great Luo Golden Immortals; reopening it requires an Immortal Venerable’s intervention 189.
- Ancient Ancestor Artifacts: Carried by the Half-Step Ancient Ancestors gathering against Ye Changge and Black Slave 139.
- Reincarnation Disc: Blocks human cannon fire and channels the Reincarnation Hall master’s reincarnation power 482 483.
- Invincible Emperor Weapons: Deployed by the reinforcements defending Desolate City. Ye Changge ultimately shatters the Flower Clan patriarch’s weapon 1629 1630.
- Hidden refuges: Survivors use underground shelters, complex formations, and ancient inheritance grounds to evade human pursuit 1100.
Desperate Resistance
- Defenders burn bloodlines, lifespans, Dao foundations, or Origin to increase their fighting strength 667 1503 1630.
- Some employ self-detonation to inflict losses even when unable to halt humanity’s advance 518 1503.
- These measures are not always available: Ye Changge’s lightning talisman suppresses bloodlines and prevents attempted self-destruction 1574.
Relations with the Human Race
- Historical domination and persecution — Myriad Races campaigns seize human lands, enslave populations, consume humans as food, and destroy cultural inheritances 1480 1500 1539.
- Ye Changge’s retaliation — He pursues not merely military victory but the destruction of hostile races’ bloodlines, writing, books, and cultures. Captives may be transformed into mindless livestock rather than accepted as subjects 790 1109 1506.
- Uneven responses to coexistence — Some races attempt diplomacy or withdrawal, while others secretly gather strength for another attack. The Peace Envoy’s appeal divides Myriad Races soldiers rather than producing a common position 478 572.
- Fear and inherited contempt — Repeated defeats coexist with beliefs that humans are naturally inferior. Isolated lineages and younger generations sometimes remain unaware of humanity’s resurgence or former power 1372 1436 1644.
- Internal disagreement over surrender — The Five-Colored Divine Ox grand elder kills his own patriarch, condemns his compromises, and calls for a fight to the death 1109.
- Human collaborators — At least one human expert takes refuge with the Myriad Races; Ye Changge condemns him as having willingly become their subordinate 1517.
