Previous Life

Lin Yu originally transmigrated into the cultivation world as a Qi Refinement Second Stage youth. Li Household deathsworn nearly killed him immediately, but his system awakened at the critical moment. He subsequently cultivated into a supreme Immortal Emperor 1.

His early weakness left lasting regrets. The Li Household’s attack gravely injured his father and killed or wounded many members of his lineage. Although Xue Qing’er intervened, Lin Tian and Su Zhiyuan permanently lost their cultivation. The Qianyuan Sect later became the true starting point of Lin Yu’s rise, with Sect Master Yun Tianci providing considerable assistance 1 5 21 23.

Lin Yu eventually destroyed Heavenly Demon Manor and the Dark Nether Divine Hall, but not before their contamination of the Qianyuan Sacred Stone caused irreversible damage to the sect. He also rescued the Six-Winged Holy Tiger Xiaobai from the Southern Region Holy Land; she became his foremost immortal beast and accompanied him through repeated life-and-death struggles 19 23.

Return to Flame City

The system returned Lin Yu to the location of his original transmigration. His cultivation immediately rose to Tribulation Transcendence Peak Stage, while his self-created immortal abode and its stored possessions returned with him. The living creatures he had previously subdued were not among its preserved contents 1 3.

Rather than ascend immediately, he decided to revisit old friends, enemies, teachers, and confidantes while correcting his regrets. He killed the deathsworn pursuing him, then intervened at the besieged Lin Household estate. His changed appearance prevented even Lin Tian from recognizing him 1 3.

Lin Yu mutilated Li Yuan after pretending to accept his offer to change sides, then killed both him and Yin Mystic Sect elder Lu Tao. He subsequently annihilated every remaining Li Household cultivator involved in the attack and promised protection to the Lin and Su Households 3 4 5.

Sea Heart Auction House and Xue Qing’er

After identifying the Clear Frost Art’s emotion-eroding side effects, Lin Yu asked Xue Qing’er to protect the two households while he obtained a suitable remedy. His own collection lacked the low-tier medicine she could safely use 7 8.

In Sea Heart City, he exchanged an eighth-tier Holy Infant Pill for the Sea Heart Auction House, leaving the Ling Household responsible for its operation. He also arranged regular supplies of pills, cultivation methods, and spiritual treasures for the Lin and Su Households 9 14.

When outside experts attempted to seize the auction house’s seventh-tier Fire Spirit Earthly Baleful Intent Pill, Lin Yu empowered Ling Shanhai against the Blazing Flame Sect’s three Nascent Soul cultivators. He later defeated Bing Chen, destroyed his cultivation, and killed the Nascent Soul experts who tried to flee 11 13.

Returning to Flame City, Lin Yu killed Mo Xuantian and Elder Liu, then gave Xue Qing’er the pill. After he resolved her accumulated cold Qi, her cultivation rose from Nascent Soul Second Tier to Fifth Tier. He advised her to continue nourishing herself weekly with fire-attribute treasures 15 17.

Reunion with Xiaobai

Lin Yu traveled to the Great Yan Empire’s northern ice fields to find Xiaobai before their original meeting. Discovering the Evil Spirit Holy Fruit’s influence within her, he used the Purification Spirit Stone to remove its evil energy 18 19.

Two years passed outside while Lin Yu brewed tea in his time-adjusted immortal abode. Xiaobai awakened, felt an immediate closeness to him, and accepted his invitation to use the abode and its treasures. He later introduced her to Ling Yiran as his friend 19 27.

Return to the Qianyuan Sect

Before entering the recruitment assembly, Lin Yu exposed the contamination within the Qianyuan Sacred Stone and explained Heavenly Demon Manor’s connection to the Dark Nether Divine Hall. Xiaobai purified the stone at his request, causing it to evolve. Yun Tianci pledged the sect’s support in gratitude 22 23.

Lin Yu then instructed Yun Tianci to pretend not to recognize him during recruitment. His aptitude test and Sacred Stairway performances nevertheless made him one of the assembly’s central figures 23 32 42.

Lin Yu and Xiaobai became the sect’s first red-grade disciples. Their accommodation created a problem because only one red-grade residence existed, on Stabilizing Mystery Peak. Xiaobai proposed sharing it; Yun Li opposed the arrangement and challenged Lin Yu to a match, offering to stop interfering if Lin Yu won 47 49 50.

Appearance

Personality

Lin Yu treats his second journey as an opportunity to enjoy what relentless cultivation previously made him overlook. Nostalgic about old acquaintances and familiar places, he prefers revisiting the lower realm to immediately returning to the Immortal Realm. His choice of Sacred Stairway is influenced by the view rather than any concern about difficulty 1 24 38.

He is relaxed and playful even in dangerous situations. He yawns before enemies, mocks threats from powerful sects, and attributes his extraordinary stairway performance to “luck.” His confidence comes from the gulf between his actual strength and that of the cultivators confronting him 1 4 15 44.

His mercy is selective. Lin Yu states that he dislikes killing innocents, but regards the Li Household attackers as willing accomplices and refuses to let them escape. He can deliberately prolong an enemy’s suffering, as shown when he twists apart Li Yuan’s limbs before killing him 3 4 5.

Despite the emotional distance created by his long previous life, his father’s willingness to sacrifice himself moves him. He also repays past kindness, protecting Xue Qing’er and preventing the disaster that once damaged Yun Tianci’s sect. With Xiaobai, he is openly affectionate and teasing, but discourages her casual willingness to kill 5 23 49.
