Old Wu frowned, his gaze sweeping between the Jiang Family members and Jiang Fan before he spoke again. "I don't see a single injury on any of you, while this boy's injuries are too horrible to look at. You say he attacked you? That's not convincing at all."
The Jiang Family members choked on their words, momentarily at a loss for what to say.
Old Wu asked again, "What exactly did you fight over? And what's your relationship?"
"We have no relationship with him whatsoever. I, Jiang Qifeng, have no son as unfilial and treacherous as this!" Jiang Qifeng said angrily.
Hearing this, Old Wu and Xiao Qian exchanged a glance, both seeing shock in the other's eyes.
This boy covered in injuries was actually this family's son?!
Was this some kind of joke?
And those ferocious bodyguards-when they arrived earlier, they had seen Jiang Qifeng ordering those bodyguards to attack Jiang Fan with their own eyes. He had even told them to break his legs. Just how much hatred was there?
His expression cold, Jiang Fan looked at Jiang Qifeng and said icily, "I don't have a father like you either. You have eyes, but you might as well be blind, treating a green tea who does nothing but act and pretend to be good all day as your own flesh-and-blood son."
The more Old Wu and Xiao Qian watched, the more confused they became. How were these two anything like father and son? They were enemies as incompatible as fire and water.
"Ahem." Old Wu cleared his throat, his gaze returning to Jiang Fan. "Since you're the one who reported this, can you tell us everything that happened?"
"Yes, but wait a moment." With that, Jiang Fan walked back the way he had come.
His actions left Old Wu and the others baffled.
Soon, they saw Jiang Fan retrieve a phone from a clump of bushes nearby.
Jiang Fan handed Old Wu the video he had just recorded.
Old Wu's mouth fell slightly open, a trace of surprise in his gaze as he looked at Jiang Fan. Then, without further delay, he played the video.
After watching it, he had a general understanding of the whole incident.
First, Jiang Qifeng and the others had attacked Tang Fugui. After arriving, Jiang Fan had stepped in to protect Tang Fugui. What surprised him was that Jiang Fan, a boy who looked so thin and frail, had actually snapped two bodyguards' hands in an instant.
Then Jiang Qifeng had tried to slap Jiang Fan, and Jiang Fan had knocked his hand aside in self-defense.
After that, Jiang Hongyuan and the other three had charged at him, claws bared, gnawing, biting, and tearing at Jiang Fan. They had looked like rabid dogs, sinking their teeth into whoever they caught and tearing them apart.
Old Wu's expression turned grave, his lips pressed tightly together.
He could hardly imagine how a teenage child had managed to endure all of this.
The people hurting him were all his closest family!
The more he thought about it, the more anguished Old Wu felt.
After taking a moment, he turned a cold gaze on Jiang Qifeng and the others.
Yet none of them showed the slightest guilt.
"In any case, Jiang Fan was in the wrong here. Our actions were understandable," Jiang Qifeng said with righteous confidence.
Xue Ping chimed in as well. "Yes, you don't know this, but this son of mine has always been rebellious. He often bullies his younger brother, and last time, he even pushed him off an overpass."
"That happened too?" Old Wu looked surprised.
Jiang Fan said calmly, "Jiang Youtian jumped himself. And the Jiang Family has already obtained the surveillance footage. The video does indeed show Jiang Youtian jumping off the overpass himself."
Seeing that Jiang Fan's account was reasoned and backed by evidence, Old Wu did not doubt him at all.
"Wasn't that because you forced him?! You told Youtian that if he didn't jump off the overpass, you'd drive him away. He wanted to stay in this family, so he had no choice but to jump himself!" Jiang Qifeng grew angrier as he spoke.
Jiang Fan continued, "The audio on the surveillance footage was very quiet, so you couldn't hear it clearly. But if you want to know the truth, it's simple. Just find an expert who can read lips."
Hearing this, Jiang Youtian's expression abruptly changed.
"Dad, this-"
He had barely spoken before Jiang Qifeng's voice drowned him out.
"Fine! You keep saying we've wronged you and that Youtian framed you. Today, I'll make you give up all hope. But-"
At this point, Jiang Qifeng changed tack. "Once the lip-reading expert arrives and the truth comes to light, if it turns out you really did use vicious words to force Youtian to jump off the overpass, what will you do?"
Jiang Fan raised his chin slightly, neither servile nor overbearing. "Then I'll kneel and apologize to Jiang Youtian in public. You can also livestream it and let everyone who joins spit on me, turning me into a rat crossing the street that everyone wants to beat."
"Good!" Jiang Qifeng barked.
Jiang Youtian was frantic. "Dad, listen to me. There's no need to make this so serious. Whatever else he is, Jiang Fan is still my older brother. As his younger brother, how could I watch his reputation be dragged through the mud?"
"Enough, Youtian. Don't say another word. My mind is made up. No matter what, we're settling this once and for all today!" Jiang Qifeng said sternly.
"That's exactly what I want," Jiang Fan said. "But I have conditions too."
"Go ahead."
"If Jiang Youtian really did falsely accuse me, then the same applies. Start a livestream and have him kneel and apologize to me."
"Fine. I agree on his behalf."
"Also, after this, I'll have absolutely nothing more to do with your Jiang Family."
Jiang Qifeng's eyes narrowed into icy slits, his lips pressed so tightly together that they turned white. "Fine! I'll announce on the livestream that you, Jiang Fan, are no longer my son and will never again be a member of my Jiang Family!"
And so it was settled.
Xiao Qian whispered to Old Wu, "Old Wu, what should we do now?"
"What else can we do? Keep watching, of course." With that, Old Wu lit a cigarette, leaned to one side, and began puffing away.
Before long, the lip-reading experts had been invited to the Jiang Family home.
Jiang Qifeng said, "Sorry for the trouble. Please read their lips carefully and see exactly what they said."
"Mr. Jiang, rest assured. We're professionals in this line of work," the lip-reading experts said confidently.
Jiang Qifeng nodded in satisfaction and looked at Jiang Fan. "I hired three lip-reading experts at once to stop you from making excuses afterward and claiming the expert translated it wrong. You could say one person got it wrong, but with three, let's see what you have to say then."
Jiang Fan said nothing, simply waiting quietly for the results.
Meanwhile, Jiang Youtian kept swallowing, his mind racing as he tried to think of a way to deal with what came next.
A few minutes later, the three lip-reading experts paused the surveillance footage.
"Mr. Jiang, we've finished translating it."
"Then sorry for the trouble, but please tell us what they said."
"Certainly."
"I'll go first." A lip-reading expert wearing glasses spoke first.
He looked at Jiang Fan first. "To begin with, he was the first to speak."
