Background / History

Jiang Youtian and Jiang Fan were switched as babies at the hospital. Although he was Tang Fugui and Wang Shuqin’s biological son, Youtian grew up as the Jiang Family’s young master, receiving an affluent upbringing and the family’s preferred education. Jiang Fan, the Jiang Family’s biological son, grew up with the Tang family in the slums 1 6 14.

After Jiang Fan returned to the Jiang household, Youtian remained the favored son. Jiang Qifeng and the four Jiang sisters treated him as their true family member, while Xue Ping diverted money away from Jiang Fan’s living expenses to support Youtian’s costly martial training. The family regarded him as a leading martial-exam prospect who could enter Donglang Martial Arts School 1 2 3.

Jiang Fan’s Previous Life

During the beast tide that struck Fortress No. 31, Youtian broke both of Jiang Fan’s legs to prevent him from escaping. He left Jiang Fan as prey for the pursuing demonic beasts, buying himself time to flee. This betrayal led to Jiang Fan’s death and became a central reason for his determination to grow stronger after rebirth 1 36.

Personality

Youtian conceals hostility behind an appearance of kindness and self-sacrifice. He cries, kneels, and ostensibly pleads for Jiang Fan’s forgiveness while reinforcing accusations against him. The Jiang Family interprets these performances as proof of exceptional kindness, allowing him to redirect their anger toward Jiang Fan 1 2.

His attachment to the Jiang household is possessive and status-conscious. He resents Jiang Fan for threatening his position as the family’s only young master and fears having to share the family’s assets. He also despises his biological family’s poverty, calling them lowly and threatening Tang Fugui for acknowledging him publicly as his son 14 24 29.

He is careful about appearances even when violent. He refrains from hitting Tang Fugui because the Jiang Family might witness him abusing his biological father, and abandons another confrontation when Lan Shengxue appears so that he will not damage his image before her 14 22.

Abilities & Skills

Martial Cultivation

Youtian reaches middle-stage martial apprentice while still seventeen, placing him among Ancheng’s stronger senior-year martial-exam candidates 25 41.

  • Physical resilience: At 99 N, his body is tough enough that Jiang Fan, then at 30 N, hurts his own hand when slapping him 14.
  • Strength over ordinary people: Restrains Tang Fugui so firmly that the latter cannot break free 22.
  • Unarmed combat: Attacks with punches and kicks, but is decisively overpowered by Jiang Fan despite holding the higher publicly known cultivation stage 42.

Deception and Emotional Manipulation

Youtian uses the Jiang Family’s affection to turn apparent vulnerability into protection 1 2.

  • False accusations: Jumps from an overpass to frame Jiang Fan, then changes his account to alleged coercion when surveillance disproves a physical push 2 24.
  • Feigned advocacy: Tries to prevent scrutiny by claiming that he wants to protect Jiang Fan’s reputation 1 23.
  • Damage control: After confessing, emphasizes his fear of abandonment, reveals his cultivation breakthrough, and offers to leave; Jiang Qifeng instead insists that he stay 24.

Equipment / Items

  • Bone-Mending Pill — Keeps one at home and requests to be taken there after his knees are shattered. The pill can reconnect broken bones and permit complete recovery in less than three days, but his taking it is not shown 42.

Relationships

  • Jiang Fan — Rival and the child with whom he was switched at birth. Youtian repeatedly frames him and seeks to monopolize his place in the Jiang Family. Jiang Fan’s affection for Youtian’s biological parents restrains him from killing Youtian after rebirth 6 24 29 42.
  • Jiang Qifeng — Father who raised him and his principal protector. Retains him after his confession, refuses to enforce his promised apology, and later attempts to retaliate for his arena injuries 24 25 44.
  • Xue Ping — Mother who raised him. Prioritizes his martial training and comforts him even after learning that he framed Jiang Fan 3 24 25.
  • Jiang Hongyuan, Jiang Chengyuan, Jiang Huangyuan, and Jiang Lüyuan — Older sisters in the Jiang household. Consistently favor him over Jiang Fan and resume defending him shortly after his deception is exposed 1 24 25.
  • Tang Fugui — Biological father, whom Youtian rejects and threatens. After witnessing his conduct, Tang declares Jiang Fan his only son 14 22 26.
  • Wang Shuqin — Biological mother. Agrees with Tang Fugui’s decision to regard Jiang Fan as their only son 6 26.
  • Lan Shengxue — The object of his romantic pursuit. Rejects his offer of protection by pointing out that she is substantially stronger than him 14.
  • Wei Cangyue — Special training instructor. Gives him one warning rather than immediately expelling him after Jiang Qifeng attempts to settle his arena defeat through violence 44.

Story Role / Major Arcs

Overpass Frame-Up and Exposure

  • Youtian jumps from an overpass intending to have Jiang Fan blamed, beaten, and expelled from the household. When footage shows that Jiang Fan never pushed him, he claims Jiang Fan threatened him into jumping 2 24.
  • Jiang Fan later proposes using lip-reading experts to recover their conversation. Jiang Qifeng agrees that Youtian must publicly kneel and apologize if the accusation proves false 23.
  • Three experts independently confirm Youtian’s scheme. He confesses but retains the family’s support after revealing his middle-stage breakthrough 24.
  • Jiang Qifeng refuses to make him apologize and instead livestreams Jiang Fan’s expulsion. Jiang Fan warns Youtian that the unpaid apology remains a debt 25.

Special Training Admission

  • Youtian fears that Jiang Fan’s successful registration will prompt the family to bring him back and eventually divide its assets between them. He is relieved when Wei Qi asserts, without evidence, that Lan Shengxue lied about Jiang Fan qualifying 28 29.
  • He joins the martial track himself and asks Jiang Qifeng to attend the paperwork signing. When Jiang Fan’s advancement is publicly confirmed, Youtian privately wishes that his rival will never improve further 29 35.

Arena Defeat and Disciplinary Warning

  • Youtian offers 30,000 yuan for Jiang Fan’s Qi and Blood Raw Stone, far below Wei Qi’s stated 500,000-yuan offer. He accepts Jiang Fan’s challenge to win the stone in an arena match 40.
  • He proposes a life-and-death waiver intending to avoid responsibility for crippling Jiang Fan. Instead, Jiang Fan catches his punch, slaps him, and shatters both knees, forcing him into the kneeling position he had refused to take voluntarily 42.
  • After Jiang Qifeng attempts retaliation, Wei Cangyue intervenes. Youtian receives a final warning: another attempt to have a parent settle his defeat will result in immediate expulsion from the special training class 44.
