" Finch..."

Jeff saw that only two people came out of the RV, and immediately stepped onto the stairs, tilting his body and head to peek at the bed at the back of the vehicle.

But as it expected, there was no one left in either the aisle or on the bed inside the RV.

" Finch has been taken to the hospital for treatment. You'll see it again later." Robert had just been chatting happily with Jeff, came over and immediately knew what had happened.

The robot turned around, looking confused, and said, "Where did Finch go? I didn't see him at the car door; that's the only exit..."

This matter defies its data logic; it offers absolutely no possible explanation.

"Magic? Tricks..."

Jeff muttered a series of possibilities.

Zhang Tianyuan chuckled from behind it, "Just think of it as a kind of magic. Your master is currently receiving treatment, so you might have to wait a bit."

Jeff turned around abruptly, still habitually hunching over to try and meet everyone else's gaze.

"Where?"

"Parallel universes..."

Parallel universe?

Jeff quickly searched for relevant concepts in the Book of Worlds he had previously recorded and swiftly understood. "Parallel universes don't exist; they're just a hypothesis."

Robert, standing beside him, smiled and said, "It exists because we come from a parallel universe."

Along with that, Robert also introduced Jeff to matters related to the Mutual Aid Society, from its principles and goals to its specifics.

"Help each other, unite as one, and we will overcome this together?" Jeff said the two words in Chinese in a strange, mechanical voice.

Contrary to Robert's expectations, as a robot, it calmly accepted the concept of the Mutual Aid Society.

However, it quickly connected this idea to what Finch had once told it, " Finch... and her daughter... murder..."

It didn't understand why these people were different from the others in Finch's story.

The people in the story were so cruel, but the people in front of me were so friendly.

After listening to the story with the others, Robert sighed and said, "We were formed to stop these things. With us, this kind of thing will never happen again."

After hearing the sad story, everyone's spirits were dampened.

As night fell, the motorcade's cooks set up various tools to prepare a meal for everyone.

Tianyuan, Robert, and others also held a meal and sat outdoors to enjoy it.

Jeff was still with them, tilting his head and bombarding them with all his questions:

"What do I do to see Finch? Or rather, how can I travel to a parallel universe to see him? Is there someone there who looks exactly like him?"

Zhang Tianyuan looked at it carefully and said, "I don't recommend that you go to a parallel universe to see your master. There isn't a robot like you in that universe yet, and your going there will cause quite a stir."

Jeff nodded blankly, then took out a can of dog food and pointed to Goodyear in his arms. "But it won't eat. I think it must want to see Finch."

Zhang Tianyuan picked up a piece of meat and placed it in front of Goodyear, making a purring sound. Sure enough, it whimpered and turned its head away without even looking at it.

Shaking his head, Zhang Tianyuan swallowed the meat that Goodyear wouldn't eat before saying, "Then wait until we get back to San Francisco, and you can go with the other survivors who need to be taken to the hospital. San Francisco has been searching for survivors these past few days, and there's a backlog of people waiting to be taken to the hospital."

"Thank you." Jeff couldn't fully understand, but he knew he could see Finch; his logical reasoning was not much different from that of a real person.

Then it tilted its head and asked:

"Are you eating? So humans really do need to eat."

It was very curious; this was the first time it had ever seen humans eat.

During the previous few days of his journey, Finch only drank water and never ate, or rather, he had already finished his last can of food before the journey even began.

Upon hearing this question, the group smiled faintly, and Robert even gave them a brief explanation of many things related to human society.

These are all things it will need to master once it arrives in the Pacific Rim Spacetime.

Despite possessing a vast amount of data, Jeff is different from a typical machine or computer; not all the data in his mind will be used.

Only those elements deemed relevant to the current situation will participate in event decision-making and become influencing factors. Furthermore, the weight of various data points varies depending on their usual usage.

It is this design, similar to experiential learning, that gives it human-like characteristics and even forms its unique "personality."

After the meal, a meteorologist came over to ask Jeff some questions.

When they learned their current position

When the boundary of the sheltered area was set, everyone was greatly disappointed.

"This location is about 700 kilometers from San Francisco, and only about 400 kilometers as the crow flies. It is estimated that the area affected by this shielding zone will only extend to California and a part of neighboring Nevada."

"This scope isn't too large, but it's not too small either."

Some meteorologists decided to split up; some continued on to locate the specific boundaries of the sheltered area, while the rest returned to San Francisco overnight to retrieve the various disposable data collection instruments they had left behind along the way.

Zhang Tianyuan also followed their car back to San Francisco, taking the opportunity to learn about the latest meteorological research findings along the way.

Jeff, on the other hand, immediately offered to go with them as soon as he heard they were going to San Francisco.

It took out the postcards Finch had left it, one of which was of the Golden Gate Bridge. Finch's decision to travel west from St. Louis in the Midwest was largely due to this postcard from his father.

"I want to see this place. Finch will be so happy to know." Jeff held up a photo in one hand and drew circles on it with the other.

Seeing its behavior, Zhang Tianyuan had no reason to object. "Then you can follow us in the RV, but watch out for traffic rules."

If he remembered correctly, in the movie, this guy never followed traffic rules while driving, always looking down at the road and weaving in and out of traffic.

"Traffic rules..." Jeff pulled up the section on traffic rules in the database and immediately realized, "I will follow them."

The group officially set off.

On the way, Zhang Tianyuan learned in detail about the current meteorological research findings, but just as he had predicted, the situation was not ideal, or rather, it was worse.

After the meeting ended, many meteorological experts looked worried, and the atmosphere in the car was oppressive.

Zhang Tianyuan also informed Tan Mingda of the latest situation through system communication, telling him to be prepared.

For the rest of the night, the convoy moved along, stopping frequently to retrieve previously deployed instruments and review the data collected during that period.

The convoy didn't return to its San Francisco neighborhood until morning.

Many children ran out happily to greet the returning convoy.

After finishing the meeting in the car, Zhang Tianyuan, who had taken a nap, jumped out and looked towards the back of the convoy. Sure enough, he saw Jeff's RV still following behind.
