Background / History
Childhood and Loss of the Supreme Sword Bone
Han Yuyao was born as the Cold Moon Holy Dynasty’s seventh princess with an innate Supreme Sword Bone. Before it could awaken, her third elder sister, Han Ziyan, dug it out and refined it. The theft severely damaged Yuyao’s life essence, leaving her unable to begin cultivation. She fled the dynasty as a child and wandered the world 2 23.
Despite her condition, she continued seeking the sword in everything around her: clouds, wind, rain, and the movements of heaven and earth. This persistence tempered a Flawless Sword Heart even while she remained without cultivation. When she publicly confronted Han Ziyan, she identified the theft as having occurred twelve years earlier 2 23.
Becoming Jiang Chen’s Disciple
Following the Purple Firmament Azure Heaven Bell trial, Jiang Chen chose Yuyao as his disciple despite the Dark Annihilation Dragon Emperor’s warning about her congenital deficiency. He brought her to Clear Void Peak, where they were initially the lineage’s only two members 2 3.
Jiang Chen taught her the Chaos Sword Scripture and assured her that losing the Supreme Sword Bone had not destroyed her prospects. Recognizing the scripture as an immortal inheritance far beyond her former bone, Yuyao devoted herself to cultivation. Its Sword Dao origin power replenished her depleted life source and enabled her first Chaos Sword Bone to form 3 5.
The bone’s emergence stirred ancient sword powers across the Immortal Realm and the Three Thousand Great Worlds. Jiang Chen’s concealment prevented them from identifying her. Through its shared origin with her stolen bone, the awakening also inflicted cracks in Han Ziyan’s Great Dao foundation, though Yuyao herself was unaware of this consequence 5 6 7.
Rise in the Sword Ruins of Creation
After testing her against his own No Dao in the Heavens, Jiang Chen identified a weakness in Yuyao’s otherwise exceptional talent: she had encountered too few sword techniques to build a sufficiently broad foundation. He directed her to the Sword Ruins of Creation, a consciousness-accessed world where Sword Intent could take material form 8.
There, she rapidly dismantled ancient Sword Intent creations and accepted Luo Qianqian as her follower under the alias “Yu.” Her destruction of the Void Sword River earned Immortal Sword Intent’s recognition and spread her reputation across the Three Thousand Great Worlds. Memory crystals of the feat showed ordinary Sword Intents applied with extraordinary precision, rather than an obscure secret technique 10 11 12 13.
Her fame attracted prospective followers, challengers, and cultivators seeking to seize her Immortal Sword Intent. She refused further followers and forcibly dispersed those who tried to pressure her. When Ming Yu, the Void Sword River’s creator, attacked her, she unraveled his enhanced river and neutralized his Soul-Annihilating Killing Sword, defeating his mental consciousness 17 18 19.
Yuyao eventually reached Han Ziyan’s Bright Moon Sword Palace. Rather than immediately destroying it, she studied its transformations to assess what her sister had achieved with the stolen bone. After erasing it, she revealed her identity, created the Chaos Sword Sea, and challenged Han Ziyan. Her sister answered by inviting her to the Emperor Realm Sword Ruins 22 23.
Journey Toward the Cold Moon Holy Dynasty
After reaching the True Spirit Realm, Yuyao completed her annual trial mission by killing an Ice Scorpion King threatening a town eighty thousand li southeast of the holy land. She later resolved to return to the Cold Moon Holy Dynasty, seeking her rightful fortune and the fate of her mother’s clan rather than merely the Holy Maiden’s position 24 40.
She declined Ye Hao’s offer to accompany her and his suggestion to wait for a Divine Spirit ruin near the Chaotic Cloud Sea. Instead, she intended to use the entire journey to Star Moon City as cultivation through adversity. Jiang Chen approved while promising protection against dangers beyond her ability 40.
Traveling without displaying her sect identity, she gathered unclaimed spirit herbs and discovered a hidden cave containing a thousand-year Vermilion Fruit Tree and Ten-Thousand-Year Earth Core Milk. When Xia Yuwei tried to seize the treasure, Yuyao defeated her, showed mercy, and gave her true name 44 45.
Xia Yuwei and Mu Qingyan subsequently traced her route and connected Fairy Yu with the disciple registered as “Yuyao” on Clear Void Peak. The Purple Empyrean Holy Lord confirmed their deduction and ordered them not to interfere with her tempering. Jiang Chen later personally confirmed that she was his eldest disciple 46 47 48.
Appearance
Han Yuyao is described as having a stunning face, delicate brows, and clear eyes in which faint sword light appears during cultivation 8 17.
- Sect clothing: A purple true-disciple dress bearing the Purple Firmament Azure Heaven Bell emblem 3 5.
- Travel clothing: Changes the dress into moon-white gauze patterned with subtly shimmering flowers to conceal her affiliation 44.
- Cultivation phenomena: Chaotic mist and fine rays of sword light surround her during Chaos Sword Bone formation 5 37.
Personality
Yuyao’s defining trait is persistence. Unable to cultivate after losing her bone, she continued comprehending the sword through ordinary sights and sounds. Once given a viable cultivation method, that same determination became confidence in forging her own path rather than following every prestigious opportunity 2 4 40.
She is deeply grateful to Jiang Chen and generous toward those she trusts. Her request to demonstrate No Dao in the Heavens was partly an attempt to share the ability with him. Likewise, she teaches Luo Qianqian how to unravel creations and gives her Immortal Sword Intent after sensing her willingness to risk her life in Yuyao’s defense 8 11 17.
Her restraint has firm boundaries. She dismisses minor discourtesy when it does not obstruct her cultivation, but responds decisively to coercion and threats. She also distinguishes competition from robbery: although nearby demon kings cannot withstand her sword, she refuses to kill them merely to take the herbs they guard 17 18 44 45.

- Detects emotions carried by observing divine senses, including admiration, jealousy, and hostility 17.
- Clearly reflects Qi fluctuations within a hundred li and helps her locate concealed treasures 44.

Chaos Sword Scripture and Chaos Sword Physique
- Draws Sword Dao origin power from the deepest reaches of creation, replenishing her damaged life source 5.
- Produces Chaos Sword Bones, each nurturing its own great Sword Dao divine ability 5 7 37.

- Depends on cultivation and comprehension: Jiang Chen overwhelms her version while matching her Wheel Sea cultivation because his Sword Intent is much deeper 8.
- Its suppression of the Soul-Annihilating Killing Sword is not permanent; Yuyao states that the weapon’s power will eventually return 19.
Sword Cry Through the Ages
- Innate divine ability of her second Chaos Sword Bone, emphasizing killing through sound rather than unraveling 37.
- A single sword chime shatters Xia Yuwei’s attacks and cracks her Dao heart; Yuyao deliberately holds back rather than killing her 45 46.
