Ch. 202The holy sword: Quel'Delar (3/4)

As the undead overwhelmed Silvermoon City, Salorian Dawnseeker fought to protect more than a thousand helpless High Elves until Jiang Jie reached him. Salorian entrusted Quel'Delar and his final vial of holy water to Jiang Jie before dying, leaving Jiang Jie to protect the survivors and find the sword a true wielder.

  • Lor'themar, Halduron, Sylvanas, and other High Elf fighters suffered heavy wounds as the undead attacked across Silvermoon City.
  • Salorian Dawnseeker and his companions defended a refuge of more than a thousand High Elves until Salorian was left alone and mortally wounded.
  • Jiang Jie rushed through the undead to reach Salorian, who recognized him as the deputy commander of the Ashen Army and asked him to protect the refugees.
  • Salorian gave Quel'Delar and his last vial of holy water to Jiang Jie, asking him to prevent his corpse from being raised as undead and to find the sword a true wielder.
  • Salorian died beneath the newly visible stars as the High Elves sang, while the enemy threatened to break through their lines.

Ch. 203The Sunwell's avatar (4/4)

Jiang Jie defended Salorian’s body and more than a thousand vulnerable High Elves until Fenna, Sylvanas, and the Ashen Army arrived, then helped arrange a portal for the Silver Hand. As the Scourge advanced on Quel'Danas and the Sunwell’s corruption seemed inevitable, a red dragon mage preserved some of its essence by creating a human girl and two parents, sending them to Tarren Mill.

  • Jiang Jie fought off Undead at the trade hall and protected Salorian’s body and the people sheltering there until Fenna, Sylvanas, and the Ashen Army arrived.
  • Jiang Jie told Archmage Angela that Naxxramas had left, and Angela opened a portal through which armed Paladins of the Silver Hand arrived.
  • The Sun King and his forces defended Quel'Danas’s southern coast while Kael'thas and Grand Magister Belo'vir tried to break the confinement spell on the Sunwell Plateau.
  • A red dragon mage gathered the Sunwell’s finest dispersed energy and shaped it into a human girl, then sealed her power.
  • The red dragon mage created two human parents with ordinary memories and sent all three to Tarren Mill to keep the girl away from the war and curious mages.

Ch. 204The Yang Linking Vessel opened, Houtian Eighth Layer Perfection

Uther and the Order of the Silver Hand reinforced the battle for Silvermoon City, while Jiang Jie recovered and opened his yang linking vessel, reaching Houtian Eighth Layer Perfection. He then left the battlefield and swam toward the Isle of Quel'Danas, where Arthas was fighting, and struck the ice from below with Strom'kar.

  • Uther emerged through the portal with five hundred Paladins and three thousand Silver Hand elites, turning the battle in favor of the living.
  • Rhonin and Vereesa Windrunner arrived, and Vereesa joined Sylvanas in fighting the Undead.
  • Jiang Jie meditated for two hours to recover his strength, then opened his yang linking vessel and reached Houtian Eighth Layer Perfection.
  • Seeing that his presence would not affect the large-scale battle, Jiang Jie climbed out of the city and swam toward the Isle of Quel'Danas.
  • Jiang Jie sensed Arthas's clash with another legendary fighter and thrust Strom'kar into the ice from beneath the frozen surface.

Ch. 205The setting sun (1/4)

Kael'thas and the surviving High Elf mages struggled to break the confinement spell while the Sun King fought Arthas at sea. The Sun King fell through the ice with Frostmourne, and Jiang Jie confronted Arthas underwater.

  • Kael'thas, Belo'vir, Solarian, and the surviving mages studied the confinement spell but could not find a way to break it.
  • The Sun King melted Arthas's ice road with Flamestrike, but Arthas froze the sea again and advanced with the Scourge.
  • The Sun King charged Arthas, severed Invincible's forelegs, and fought him until Frostmourne shattered Flamestrike and pierced his chest.
  • Jiang Jie struck Frostmourne with a greatsword and used currents to send Arthas and the Sun King through the broken ice toward the seabed.
  • Arthas unleashed Frostmourne's power against Jiang Jie underwater, but Jiang Jie declared that the ocean was his domain.

Ch. 206Rejoining the Alliance (2/4)

Jiang Jie escaped underwater with the dying Sun King, who entrusted him with Flamestrike and a message for Kael'thas. Before dying, the Sun King declared that Quel'Thalas would rejoin the Alliance, leaving Jiang Jie to carry his requests onward.

  • Jiang Jie evaded Arthas underwater while keeping the mortally wounded Sun King alive, and returned Flamestrike to him.
  • The Sun King used Flamestrike to dispel some of Frostmourne's frost, then confessed his regret for dismissing Jiang Jie's warning and causing Silvermoon City's fall.
  • The Sun King asked Jiang Jie to give Flamestrike to Kael'thas and promised that Kael'thas would give Jiang Jie a legendary bow from the Sunwell.
  • The Sun King gave Jiang Jie a phoenix pendant containing an image of himself, to show Kael'thas and then keep as compensation.
  • After Arthas's mental lock weakened, the Sun King admitted that leaving the Alliance had been his greatest mistake and declared Quel'Thalas would pay any price to rejoin it.

Ch. 207The sun fell

Jiang Jie negotiated with the Sun King over Quel'Thalas's return to the Alliance and received Strom'kar and the Sun King's remaining power as payment. After reaching the Sunwell, he discovered signs that mages had been secretly killed and raised as undead, and realized danger was waiting deeper inside.

  • Jiang Jie demanded a personal price from the Sun King after the king offered half of Quel'Thalas's wealth to secure Alliance support.
  • The Sun King agreed to have Kael'thas reforge Strom'kar and asked Jiang Jie to kill him before Frostmourne could enslave his soul.
  • Jiang Jie killed the Sun King with Strom'kar, shattered his soul, and absorbed his remaining fire energy into the sword.
  • Jiang Jie entered the Sunwell with Flamestrike's recognition and searched for its deepest reaches, but lost his way.
  • Jiang Jie found bloodstains, bloody footprints, and traces of death energy, then suspected that Arthas or Kel'Thuzad had raised slain mages as undead.
  • Jiang Jie activated Flamestrike near an arcane eye, which immediately locked onto him.

Ch. 208Kael'thas's Decision (3/4)

Kael'thas prepared to destroy the Sunwell in a last-ditch strike against Arthas's advancing Scourge, while arranging for most High Elves to escape and regroup. Jiang Jie arrived at the Sunwell carrying Flamestrike, and Kael'thas suspected he had news of the fallen Sun King.

  • Kael'thas learned that Arthas had crossed the frozen sea and decided the High Elves had no time to rebuild the Runestone Barrier.
  • Kael'thas sent most High Elves toward Sunsail Anchorage while he and the remaining mages prepared to fight beside the Sunwell.
  • Belo'vir explained that the mages would destroy spell nodes to trigger the Sunwell's explosion once Arthas and the Scourge reached the platform.
  • Kael'thas planned to use the explosion to destroy most of the Scourge, then lead surviving High Elves to help retake Silvermoon City.
  • Belo'vir sensed an intruder bearing phoenix power, and Kael'thas recognized Jiang Jie carrying Flamestrike.
  • Belo'vir teleported Jiang Jie to Kael'thas and the other Legendary mages, believing Flamestrike had brought him in and that he carried news of the Sun King.

Ch. 209A Participant in and Witness to an Epic (4/4)

Jiang Jie brought Flamestrike and the Sun King's message to Kael'thas, then uncovered a conspiracy at the Sunwell. As Kel'Thuzad was resurrected and the Sunwell's corruption began, Jiang Jie realized that confronting the Lich King and the Burning Legion was not the same as changing the course of events.

  • Jiang Jie showed Kael'thas the Sun King's image and gave him Flamestrike, then warned that High Elf mages had been assassinated and the Sunwell invaded.
  • Belo'vir, Solarian, and the other mages found that many Eyes of Arcane had been restrained and discovered that mages near the Sunwell Shrine were missing.
  • Kael'thas led Jiang Jie and the three legendary mages to the Sunwell Shrine, where undead High Elf mages held a powerful barrier around Dar'Khan.
  • Dar'Khan threw Kel'Thuzad's corpse and the Sword of Agony into the Sunwell, and Kel'Thuzad's soul emerged from the sword.
  • Medivh warned Jiang Jie not to underestimate his enemies, and Jiang Jie accepted that the Sunwell's corruption and Kel'Thuzad's resurrection could not be prevented.

Ch. 210The Grand Lich! (1/4)

Kel'Thuzad emerged from the corrupted Sunwell as a high-tier Legendary grand lich, forcing Kael'thas and Jiang Jie to evacuate the surviving High Elves before the corruption spread. As the teleportation began, Grand Archmage Belo'vir stayed behind alone to hold off the undead and protect his people.

  • Kel'Thuzad was resurrected by the Sunwell's power as a high-tier Legendary and proclaimed his eternal loyalty to the Lich King.
  • Kael'thas accepted that the Sunwell's corruption threatened all of Quel'Thalas, and Jiang Jie urged him to choose the High Elves' survival.
  • Kael'thas retrieved a powerful bow, then teleported the group to an ancient evacuation array and set a ten-minute deadline for the mages to gather.
  • Kel'Thuzad and the undead mages attacked the barrier held by Kael'thas, Solarian, Telestra, and Belo'vir while High Elf mages arrived through smaller portals.
  • With many mages still missing, Kael'thas activated the evacuation array, and Belo'vir remained behind to sustain the barrier as the others prepared to escape.

Ch. 211Destruction and rebuilding

The Sunwell’s explosion devastated Arthas’s army and forced him to retreat, while Kael’thas and his allies reclaimed Silvermoon City. The city began rebuilding as the Silver Hand returned to Lordaeron and Fenna took charge of the Eastern Plaguelands.

  • Kael’thas and the others teleported away as the Sunwell exploded, destroying most of the Scourge forces and leaving Arthas with fewer than three thousand undead.
  • Arthas and Kel’Thuzad withdrew with their surviving elite undead, frost wyrms, gargoyles, ships, and Naxxramas, leaving their destination unknown.
  • Kael’thas led the high elf mages in reactivating Silvermoon City’s Runestone Barrier and beginning the city’s reconstruction.
  • Uther returned to Lordaeron with half the Sunstrider vault’s wealth, Quel’Thalas’s request to rejoin the Alliance, and Jiang Jie’s letter to Queen Calia.
  • Fenna led the Ashen Army back to the Eastern Plaguelands and was appointed Highlord of Stratholme, while Liadrin joined the army and began training as a paladin under Fenna.

Ch. 212Mana addiction (2/4)

After the Sun King's funeral, Kael'thas asked Jiang Jie about the return of mana addiction among the High Elves. Jiang Jie explained that other elven groups also practiced arcane magic and named Suramar and Eldre'Thalas, leaving Kael'thas with new answers to consider.

  • Fenna held Quel'Delar and set Liadrin the task of proving herself worthy of the sacred sword.
  • Oryx Rivendare trained more than two thousand recruits across the Eastern Plaguelands as the Ashen Army rebuilt.
  • Sylvanas appointed Vereesa a ranger lord, while the High Elves faced the return of a disease threatening their mages.
  • At the Sun King's funeral, Kael'thas refused the throne and his proposal to rename the High Elves the Blood Elves was rejected.
  • After the funeral, Kael'thas asked Jiang Jie about mana addiction, and Jiang Jie identified Suramar and Eldre'Thalas as other elven centers of arcane magic.

Ch. 213Shen'dralar, Nightborne (3/4)

Jiang Jie told Kael'thas about the Shen'dralar in Dire Maul and the Nightborne in Suramar as possible sources of solutions to the High Elves' magical addiction. Kael'thas decided to seek their help, and Jiang Jie urged him to find a book and an elf connected to the sword Quel'Serrar.

  • Jiang Jie explained that the Shen'dralar of Eldre'Thalas had solved their magical addiction by draining energy from the demon Immol'thar.
  • Kael'thas eagerly agreed to travel to Dire Maul, and Jiang Jie suggested seeking the Night Elf Sentinels and General Shandris Feathermoon in Feralas.
  • Kael'thas asked about Suramar, and Jiang Jie revealed that its inhabitants were the Shal'dorei, also called the Nightborne, who relied on the Nightwell.
  • Jiang Jie told Kael'thas that Valewalker Farodin possessed an Arcan'dor seed but warned that the tree's energy needs and risks made it an inadvisable solution.
  • Kael'thas thanked Jiang Jie for helping the High Elves and offered him a reward, but Jiang Jie asked for nothing immediately.
  • Jiang Jie told Kael'thas to look for Foror's Compendium of Dragon Slaying and Lorekeeper Lydros in the Dire Maul library, where Quel'Serrar might emerge.

Ch. 214Leader of the Assassins' Order (3/4)

Jiang Jie accepted Queen Calia’s order to lead the Royal Assassins while leaving its daily operations to Miles and Caroline. He ordered the organization to search Tarren Mill for a girl named Anveena, then went to Lake Lordamere on Lao Qian’s back.

  • Queen Calia appointed Jiang Jie leader of the Royal Assassins and gave him authority over its internal affairs.
  • Calia discussed Lordaeron’s finances and her wish to become a priest, and Jiang Jie promised to find a way to locate Archbishop Faol.
  • Jiang Jie heard Miles and Caroline report on the Royal Assassins’ intelligence network.
  • Jiang Jie ordered Caroline to give the highest priority to watching newcomers in Tarren Mill, especially Anveena.
  • Jiang Jie left two damaged epic rogue armor sets with Miles and Caroline to repair, then went alone to Lake Lordamere on Lao Qian.

Ch. 215Eighteen Bronze Men Formation (1/4)

After a month in Silvermoon City, Jiang Jie had greatly improved his internal and external martial arts and defeated Xuanmai, earning access to the entire Shaolin Temple. Xiao Feng identified the Eighteen Bronze Men Formation as Jiang Jie’s next suitable challenge.

  • Xuanmai granted Jiang Jie access to the entire temple, and Xiao Feng showed him the strengths of its monks before pointing out the Eighteen Bronze Men Formation.

Ch. 216Crossing Skynet (2/4)

Jiang Jie tested Shaolin’s Eighteen Bronze Men Formation, then trained in archery in the Crossing Skynet simulation for a month. He left with his skills improving but still behind the High Elf ranger-lords, as the situation across Lordaeron continued to change.

  • Xuanmai warned Jiang Jie that he was not ready for the Eighteen Bronze Men Formation, but Jiang Jie entered the courtyard and was thrown out within seconds.
  • Jiang Jie challenged Earthly Dog Peak again, killed more than three hundred bandits and a Houtian Ninth Layer leader, then died after being mobbed.
  • Jiang Jie began using Crossing Skynet to practice archery with Thori'dal, the Stars' Fury, and studied techniques modeled on High Elf ranger skills.
  • After a month of training, Jiang Jie judged that his archery was approaching the ranger-lords' level, though his muscle memory and control of internal energy still lagged behind theirs.
  • Jiang Jie continued cultivating and training as the situation across Lordaeron slowly changed.

Ch. 217Shaolin Child Art (3/4)

Sylvanas became queen regent as the Sunstrider Dynasty rejoined the Alliance, while Jaina prepared a fleet to take refugees to Kalimdor despite hoping the Scourge could still be defeated. At Wolf Island, Jiang Jie trained the Fenris recruits and gave Darion Shaolin Child Art and several introductory combat manuals.

  • Old Mograine proposed an expedition to Northrend to kill the Lich King, and Jiang Jie judged the plan suicidal because of the Scourge's strength and the Burning Legion's potential support.
  • On Wolf Island, Jiang Jie trained the Fenris recruits in cultivation; Darion and others advanced quickly, and Jiang Jie rewarded Lilian and Ivan with weapons and armor.

  • Lilian left for Tirisfal Monastery to continue her training under Invar.
  • Jiang Jie learned that Anveena had been found and prepared to go to Tarren Mill.
  • Dar'Khan received a human Cult of the Damned member, then traveled with cloaked followers toward Tarren Mill.
