Ch. 262The art of spirit cultivation (1/4)

Jiang Jie proposed ways for Shen-zin Su to leave his enormous body without sinking the Wandering Isle, ultimately suggesting that he cultivate his soul. The chapter ended with Jiang Jie asking to study Shen-zin Su so he could adapt the method to him.

  • Jiang Jie proposed having a mage transfer Shen-zin Su's soul into a smaller body, or using dark magic to split his soul, but Shen-zin Su rejected the latter and Master Shang Xi pointed out the danger of removing his soul.
  • Jiang Jie suggested that Shen-zin Su learn spirit cultivation, which could let him travel in soul form while leaving the Wandering Isle intact.
  • Jiang Jie explained that Shen-zin Su's eight centuries of life had likely made his soul powerful enough to reach the level of a legendary being or Wild God.
  • Master Shang Xi welcomed the possibility of Shen-zin Su becoming another guardian for the Pandaren, but Jiang Jie said he first needed to understand Shen-zin Su's body and adapt the method.
  • Jiang Jie asked Shen-zin Su to let him study him so he could develop a suitable cultivation method.

Ch. 263Pearl of Pandaria (2/4)

Jiang Jie discovered a magical pearl inside Shen-zin Su and learned that it could show distant places, including Pandaria. After failing to use it to scan Shen-zin Su, he returned to Zhaoren the Onyx Cloud Serpent's back.

  • Jiang Jie explored Shen-zin Su's enormous interior and found that his Chi could barely affect the giant turtle.
  • Jiang Jie found a luminous pearl among the junk in Shen-zin Su's belly and suspected it was the Pearl of Pandaria.
  • Jiang Jie activated the pearl and saw a mist-covered land that he identified as Pandaria.
  • Jiang Jie used the pearl to view an uninhabited island near Theramore but could not locate Northwatch Hold, Stormwind City, or Moonglade.
  • Jiang Jie failed to use the pearl to scan Shen-zin Su and returned to Zhaoren the Onyx Cloud Serpent's back.

Ch. 264Opening a martial arts school and taking disciples (3/4)

Jiang Jie opened Shang Xi's Training Grounds on the Wandering Isle and taught martial cultivation for seven days before preparing to leave for Azshara. He departed with several companions and spotted a tiny female Pandaren near Morning Breeze Village.

  • Jiang Jie asked Shen-zin Su to take the group to Dustwallow Marsh or the Barrens, but Shen-zin Su said Azshara was closer and admitted he did not want to return to Pandaria yet.
  • Master Shang Xi offered Jiang Jie Shang Xi's Training Grounds so he could establish a martial arts school, and Jiang Jie agreed to teach there.
  • Jiang Jie taught Pandaren basic martial cultivation for seven days and formally accepted the Fenris People's Army members as disciples, with Lilian ranked first, Sven second, Darion third, and Ivan fourth.
  • Jiang Jie said farewell to Elder Shaopai and Master Li Fei, then left the Wandering Isle with Zhaoren, the four Elemental Spirits, Ji, and Aysa.
  • As Jiang Jie's group traveled through the forest toward the coast, he spotted a tiny female Pandaren near Morning Breeze Village.

Ch. 265One Little Girl (4/4)

Eight-year-old Li Li Stormstout escaped her father’s watch to search for a human martial artist, but got lost and was attacked by monkeys. She encountered Zhaoren the Onyx Cloud Serpent and climbed onto his back, eager to begin her adventure.

  • Li Li slipped away after secretly giving Master Gao something that left him stuck in the toilet, then wandered toward the Temple of the Five Dawns and Shang Xi's Training Grounds.
  • Li Li confronted a troop of monkeys that tried to steal the scroll in her backpack, but they pelted her with stones and overwhelmed her.
  • The monkeys suddenly fled, and Li Li found Zhaoren, whom she recognized as the Onyx Cloud Serpent.
  • Li Li leaped onto Zhaoren's back and announced that she was taking him wandering.

Ch. 266Flowers bloom eternal (1/4)

Jiang Jie agreed to take Li Li on a journey after she insisted on becoming his disciple, and Elder Pao Stormstout gave his permission. At the Forest of Staves, Master Shang Xi revealed that he planned to let his body die and become the forest’s eternal guardian to weaken the lingering evil of Y'Shaarj.

  • Li Li climbed onto Zhaoren, then declared Jiang Jie her master and begged him to take her wandering.
  • Jiang Jie and the others persuaded Elder Pao Stormstout to let Li Li travel with them, and he agreed on the condition that she find her uncle.
  • Li Li charmed the group into giving her gifts, asked Jiang Jie to give her Zhaoren, and received a ruby necklace instead.
  • Jiang Jie defeated the stone lions and drove away Thornbranch Scamps before the group met Master Shang Xi at the Forest of Staves.
  • Master Shang Xi explained that he would let his body fail and his soul become the forest’s guardian, using his newfound power to dispel the Wandering Isle’s lingering evil from Y'Shaarj.

Ch. 267Prelude to Godslaying (2/4)

Jiang Jie witnessed Master Shang Xi begin his transformation and received a vision that sent him west toward Ashenvale. There, Mannoroth corrupted the Lake of Life to lure the Warsong Orcs into serving the Burning Legion against Cenarius.

  • Mannoroth killed the Furbolg guards and poured his blood into the Lake of Life to corrupt it and draw the Orcs to its power.
  • Tichondrius departed for Felwood, and Mannoroth went to wait near the Warsong Orcs.

Ch. 268The war begins (3/4)

Jiang Jie led the Fenris People's Army through demon-infested Azshara and reached Ashenvale, where the Pearl of Pandaria showed Grom Hellscream's Orcs drinking Mannoroth's blood. Worried that Cenarius might already be in danger, Jiang Jie confronted a Keeper of the Grove and demanded to know whether the demigod was still alive.

  • Jiang Jie and the Fenris People's Army fought their way through groups of demons in Azshara, with Sven, Aysa, Ji, the Elemental Spirits, and Zhaoren helping lead the battles.
  • Li Li directed the fighters from her crane as the group crossed into Ashenvale by way of the mountains and the Southfury River.
  • Jiang Jie used the Pearl of Pandaria and saw Grom Hellscream lead Warsong Orcs to drink the blood-tainted lake water, gaining demonic power before heading into the forest.
  • Jiang Jie steered his group west through Ashenvale, avoiding a canyon where Mannoroth might be hiding and sensing that local guardians were watching them.
  • Jiang Jie rushed a great tree, pinned a Keeper of the Grove with Strom'kar, and demanded to know whether Cenarius was still alive.

Ch. 269Besieging a Demigod (4/4)

Jiang Jie reached Cenarius’s battlefield after learning that demon-blooded Orcs had him surrounded and wounded. Grom’s arrival made the battle even more dangerous, as he had become strong enough to challenge a demigod.

  • Jiang Jie persuaded a Keeper of the Grove to confirm Cenarius was under siege and lead him to the battle.
  • Jiang Jie flew ahead on the Onyx Cloud Serpent, while the Keeper of the Grove and his companions followed with the others.
  • Jiang Jie arrived near the Ashenvale-Barrens border and saw Orcs overwhelming Cenarius, the Keepers of the Grove, Dryads, Night Elf sentinels, and Treants.
  • Cenarius fought back with nature magic and thorn-covered vines, but Grom wounded him with Gorehowl.
  • Grom’s second dose of Mannoroth’s blood had made him the strongest Warrior in the Orcish Horde, powerful enough to challenge a demigod.

Ch. 270Mak'gora (1/4)

Jiang Jie intervened as Grom’s demonic power overwhelmed Cenarius, but his attacks could not harm the legendary orc. Unable to reason with Grom, Jiang Jie invoked the orcs’ sacred tradition and challenged him to Mak’gora.

  • Jiang Jie attacked Grom with a fireball, Twin Dragons Fetch Water, and arrows from Thori'dal, but Grom blocked or endured every strike.
  • Jiang Jie realized that ordinary magic and his martial techniques were ineffective against Grom’s legendary strength and demonic protection.
  • Jiang Jie tried to persuade Grom to stop fighting Cenarius and resist Mannoroth’s control, but Grom answered with a roar and his forces attacked.
  • Jiang Jie instructed Anveena to carry out a quiet scheme, leaped from Zhaoren the Onyx Cloud Serpent, and challenged Grom to Mak’gora.

Ch. 271You lost! (2/4)

Jiang Jie challenged Grom to Mak'gora to save Cenarius and secured a duel under rules that stripped away their armor, weapons, and powers. After Grom agreed to fight hand to hand inside a marked circle, Jiang Jie redirected his charge and forced him outside, winning the duel.

  • Jiang Jie and Grom discarded their armor and fought with their weapons, but Jiang Jie repeatedly dodged Grom's attacks using his speed.
  • Jiang Jie proposed an unarmed duel inside a circle, and Grom accepted.
  • Jiang Jie used Taijiquan and precise footwork to redirect Grom's charge and send him outside the circle.
  • Jiang Jie declared Grom the loser of Mak'gora.

Ch. 272A pact to slay a demon (3/4)-extra update today

Jiang Jie defeated Grom by making him break the rules of Mak'gora, then took Gorehowl and trapped him behind an elemental barrier. He left Ashenvale Forest with Cenarius and told the orcs to bring Thrall to the eastern canyon in three days if they wanted the axe back.

  • Jiang Jie used Silk-Reeling Jin to throw Grom out of the circle, but Grom lost control of the demonic power and struck Jiang Jie down.
  • Jiang Jie declared Grom defeated for using demonic power, while Mannoroth's voice urged Grom to kill him and reclaim Gorehowl.
  • Jiang Jie seized Gorehowl and summoned the four little Elemental Spirits to trap Grom inside a barrier.

  • The next morning, a Keeper of the Grove told Jiang Jie that Cenarius had summoned him.

Ch. 274Cenarius's mark of nature

Jiang Jie persuaded Cenarius to pause the Night Elves' conflict with the Orcs so they could focus on fighting the Burning Legion. Cenarius agreed to watch the Orcs for a month and gave Jiang Jie a mark of nature before he left to prepare for Mannoroth's death.

  • Jiang Jie told Cenarius that the Burning Legion had invaded Kalimdor and that the Orcs had followed the same prophet's guidance as the humans.
  • Cenarius described his hatred of the Orcs for cutting down trees, while Jiang Jie warned that Archimonde and Mannoroth posed a greater threat to Ashenvale.
  • Jiang Jie explained that Thrall and the Orcs would try to free Grom from demonic control and kill Mannoroth, then urged Cenarius to let them fight the Legion first.
  • Cenarius agreed to pull back the Night Elves' defenses and give the Orcs a month to prove their sincerity while the Druids awakened.
  • Cenarius placed a mark of nature on Jiang Jie, allowing him to draw closer to nature and hear Cenarius from afar, and Jiang Jie departed.

Ch. 275Retaking Dire Maul (1/4)

Kael'thas and Estulan agreed that the Shen'dralar would join the Silvermoon Council and that High Elves would settle and rebuild Dire Maul, but they learned Archimonde had invaded Ashenvale. Jiang Jie found the Burning Legion advancing in force and called for help while preparing to confront Mannoroth.

  • Kael'thas learned that the Shen'dralar had used Immol'thar's energy to resist magic addiction, and Estulan explained how the demon's prison worked.
  • Kael'thas welcomed Estulan and the Shen'dralar into Quel'Thalas and the Silvermoon Council, agreeing to bring High Elves to rebuild Dire Maul.
  • Telestra told Kael'thas that Archimonde and the Burning Legion had entered Ashenvale, and Kael'thas considered hunting demons there to obtain energy.
  • Jiang Jie killed demons near Ashenvale and discovered that the Legion had occupied the area and opened several abyssal gates, especially at Demon Fall Canyon.
  • Jiang Jie contacted Cenarius for help; Cenarius said he was too badly wounded to fight and promised that Tyrande would assist.
  • Jiang Jie continued preparing to challenge Mannoroth and wondered whether Shandris would join the battle.

Ch. 276A Legend Falls (2/4)

Jiang Jie joined Jaina, Thrall, and Cairne in the battle against the demon-controlled Warsong Clan and its pit commander. After Cairne and Jaina helped hold the demon at bay, Jiang Jie struck its head with Strom'kar and left it dying as the battle continued.

  • Jiang Jie used the Pearl of Pandaria to witness demons fighting beside Grom and learned that the Warsong Clan had drunk demon blood again.
  • Jiang Jie flew to the battlefield, rescued Jaina, and brought Thrall and Cairne to the Warsong camp on Zhaoren.

  • Thrall fought and defeated the badly injured Grom, and Jaina sealed Grom’s soul while the group cleared the camp of demons.
  • Jaina, Thrall, the Shamans, the Troll witch doctors, and Anveena restored Grom’s reason and helped Thrall heal him.
  • Jiang Jie returned Gorehowl to Grom and urged him to focus on Mannoroth, who was summoning demons to the east.
  • Thrall rebuked Grom, who picked up Gorehowl and agreed to join the fight against Mannoroth.

Ch. 278The decisive battle in Ashenvale (4/4)

Jaina and Cairne left the Orcs’ camp, while Jiang Jie stayed to pursue Mannoroth and Tichondrius. Tyrande and Kael'thas gathered a large force and reached the burning eastern Ashenvale, where they found Jiang Jie fighting demons.

  • Jaina privately questioned Jiang Jie about Medivh and urged him to leave with her, but he said he had unfinished business and planned to target Tichondrius in Felwood.
  • Jaina and Cairne departed without bringing soldiers to help the Orcs challenge Mannoroth.
  • Tyrande granted Kael'thas Dire Maul and warned him not to threaten Nicholas, whom she understood to be a friend of the Night Elves.
  • Kael'thas explained how Nicholas had helped the High Elves, and Tyrande decided they should meet him before marching to fight the demons in eastern Ashenvale.
  • Tyrande, Kael'thas, Shandris Feathermoon, and their forces joined Jiang Jie's Fenris People's Army and the guardians of nature, then advanced east.
  • At the burning forest, Kael'thas recognized Nicholas fighting more than a dozen demons and shouted his name.

Ch. 279Kael'thas arrives (1/4)

Jiang Jie fought off demons and joined Kael'thas, Tyrande, and Shandris as the Night Elves prepared to attack the Burning Legion in Ashenvale. He persuaded Kael'thas to help him reach the Orcs and kill Mannoroth, and they set out while the demons were occupied.

  • Jiang Jie killed twelve demons, refused to pursue the survivors into the forest, and met Kael'thas, Tyrande, and Shandris.
  • Jiang Jie warned Darion and the Fenris People's Army that at least five thousand demons had entered Ashenvale and told them to prioritize survival.
  • Tyrande ordered the Night Elves to attack and drive the demons from Ashenvale.
  • Jiang Jie asked Kael'thas to accompany him to the Orcs, help kill Mannoroth, and stop Grom from attacking him.
  • Kael'thas agreed to help Jiang Jie claim Mannoroth's corpse, and they departed while the Night Elves engaged the demons.

Ch. 280The confidence to speak with legends (2/4)

Jiang Jie brought Kael'thas to meet Anveena and the Elemental Spirits, then recruited him to join Thrall and Grom for a strike against the demons at Demon Fall Canyon. The unlikely allies set out to kill Mannoroth, with Thrall agreeing to end the Orcs’ destructive clear-cutting of Ashenvale.

  • Jiang Jie reunited with Anveena and the four Elemental Spirits near Demon Fall Canyon, and Kael'thas decided not to take Anveena from him.
  • Jiang Jie explained that Anveena had been formed from the Sunwell’s remaining energy and had learned powerful spells, giving their group confidence against Kael'thas.
  • Jiang Jie and Kael'thas found Thrall and Grom in a secluded cave, where the High Elf and Orcs calmed their hostility without fighting.
  • Jiang Jie said the Night Elves had pinned down the main demon force and that their group would launch a decapitation strike against Mannoroth.
  • Thrall agreed that the Orcs would stop indiscriminately cutting down Ashenvale’s forests, and the group headed toward the canyon.

Ch. 281The Destroyer, Mannoroth! (3/4)

Grom led the group through the demon-ravaged canyon, cutting down lesser demons as Jiang Jie assessed the overwhelming threat posed by Mannoroth. Before Jiang Jie could propose a plan to contain Mannoroth, Grom charged straight at him.

  • Grom used Gorehowl to tear through Felguards, Felhounds, Imps, and other demons as he led the group deeper into the canyon.
  • Jiang Jie saw the canyon’s vegetation and waterways destroyed by fel energy and spotted more than a hundred demons, including two Abyssal Demons guarding the far entrance.
  • Jiang Jie saw Mannoroth and sensed that the Pit Lord’s power and mental pressure surpassed the legendary level and rivaled Cenarius’s.
  • Jiang Jie doubted Grom could defeat Mannoroth, even with Gorehowl, and began to suggest that Kael'thas and Anveena hold the Pit Lord back.
  • Grom roared and charged toward Mannoroth before Jiang Jie could finish explaining his plan.
