You won
I fought back my fear and forced myself to stare calmly at the bald man.
"Let my brother go. Only he can get the money."
Yu Hui struggled like a madman. "She's lying to you! Let her go!"
The bald man lost his patience too and slapped him twice.
"Didn't you hear me tell you to go get the money? Keep running your mouth and I'll cut out your tongue and steep it in liquor!"
I did everything I could to steady my voice. "Yu Hui, if you don't want me to die, hurry up and get the money. Stop wasting time here!"
"Sis!"
He was hysterical, his voice breaking.
Before he could finish, he took another kick and was half shoved, half dragged out the door.
The rolling shutter slammed down with another clang. The warehouse suddenly fell quiet, and all their eyes settled on me.
The bald man grinned, his greasy face inching toward mine.
"I let him go. Come on, let's have a nice little talk..."
He backed me against the wall, trailing the backs of his fingers from my chin to my collarbone.
Another man with dyed yellow hair slid the bolt into place with a grin.
"We'll just collect a little 'interest' first. Won't stop you from paying us back!"
I turned sideways to dodge him, but someone seized my wrist with brutal force.
I merely lowered my voice, trying my best to hide my fear. "You'd better not touch me, or you'll regret it!"
"You fucking bitch, owing us money makes you right? What's wrong with me having a little fun with you?"
Angered by my words, the blond reached out to yank at my collar.
I kicked him hard behind the knee. He doubled over in pain, and I seized the chance to dart to the side.
If there really wasn't even a shred of hope coming, I would rather die here than let this trash violate me.
But before I could take two steps, someone suddenly grabbed me around the back of my neck. My vision went black, and my back slammed into the wall so hard I couldn't breathe through the pain.
The bald man gripped my chin and narrowed his eyes, looking utterly lecherous.
"Quite a fiery temper. The fiery ones are more fun to fuck! Someone strip her for me!"
Inside, I was already terrified beyond measure, but I forced myself not to cry.
Before stepping into the warehouse, I had actually taken a gamble.
I had sent Gu Hansheng my location and the address.
I had sent just four words: Come save me now.
I wasn't sure whether he would come, much less whether he would make it in time.
But I had no other way out.
I was already at the point of eternal damnation. If he didn't come, I absolutely would not cling to life!
Just as they tore my top apart and I was about to end my life with the dagger I had brought with me.
A tremendous crash suddenly came from the warehouse doors, and waves of blinding white light streamed inside.
A tall, slender figure walked in against the light.
At that moment, tears instantly slid down my face.
He had come after all.
The bald man cursed and snatched up a steel pipe beside him.
"Who the fuck are you? What kind of spooky shit are you pulling here?"
Before he finished speaking, the figure at the entrance had already walked inside.
Gu Hansheng's face was cold and stern, his presence oppressive.
Three men followed him. Once inside, they wasted no words, their movements crisp and efficient as they rained blows on the thugs.
The blond and the others were all brought down with almost no chance to fight back.
Only then did the bald man's expression change as he got a clear look at the newcomer's face.
"P-President Gu?"
Gu Hansheng acted as though he hadn't heard. He walked straight up to me, his gaze sweeping over my face before lingering for a second on my chafed, reddened chin.
His eyes were dark, revealing neither joy nor anger. He took off his jacket and wrapped it around me. Almost all my strength had drained away, and I collapsed straight into his arms.
Holding me with one arm, he turned toward the bald man and asked, seemingly casually, "Which hand touched her just now?"
"President Gu, it's all a misunderstanding. It really is. I didn't know she was yours," the bald man explained frantically.
"The left?" Gu Hansheng's voice was mild, but his tone was exceptionally sinister, as though it came from hell.
"The right?"
"President Gu, please let me off this once. From now on, I'll definitely..."
"If you won't say, then it was both."
Gu Hansheng made a slight motion with his fingers. Two bodyguards stepped forward and, without another word, forcibly snapped both of the bald man's hands.
My head grew increasingly foggy. Between the persistent high fever and the fright, I had no strength left anywhere in my body.
The bald man's hands dangled limply, but he didn't dare resist in the slightest. He didn't even dare scream.
"President Gu, it's a misunderstanding, all a misunderstanding! We were just fooling around!"
Gu Hansheng didn't even look at him. He glanced at me. "Now you're scared? When you came here alone, did you consider the consequences?"
There was reproach in Gu Hansheng's voice, but no lack of concern. My nose stung, and I could no longer suppress the hurt inside me.
But remembering the humiliation he had inflicted on me, I still couldn't act as though nothing had happened.
I wanted to shove him away hard, but I had no strength.
Gu Hansheng's expression darkened further. "If you want to throw a tantrum, do it at home."
Home?
That word was truly laughable.
What home did I have left now?
Although the bald man kept kowtowing and begging for mercy, Gu Hansheng didn't spare him another glance.
He merely instructed his men to clean things up and leave no trouble behind.
The bald man's face turned utterly ashen.
Gu Hansheng was a notorious devil in the business world, ruthless to the extreme. Offending him meant cutting off every path to staying alive in Haicheng!
